Chapter 5 - Two Weeks of Information

Ha, the more I think of the more complicated the matter becomes. Really, this body sure left me with lots of problems.

Throwing out his wandering thought, he turned his attention back to his sister.

"I will keep that in the back of my head. Now, do you have any information about me for the past two weeks? I genuinely don't remember what I've been doing and my mind is scattered all over the place."

Shao Yunlu's head wandered for a bit, and walked to his bed and sat down on it.

She rubbed the top of her head for a bit before she finally responded.

"Hmm, there wasn't much. You were a little weird and chaotic, but I thought that it was just you being a workaholic due to you having your first job and really wanted to impress your leader to hope for permanent employment in your organization. Now that you're saying that you can't remember anything is a little weird."

Shao Mingzhu nodded. He also came to the conclusion that his past actions were a little weird. His memories might be blurry, but the fact that some places in the room are unorganized such as his desk, bedding, and garbage, when he is usually clean and tidy, is strange. Especially when his wardrobe is clean and unused like he didn't even touch it.

"Did I say anything to you or perhaps have you seen me have something that I don't normally have? Even something I over protected the past couple of days."

Shao Yunlu leaned her head against the wall and dangled her legs for a while.

"Hmm, there was one thing. You kept muttering about something about the heavens and punishment? Well I think you did. You weren't very coherent when you spoke it nor was I paying attention. Oh yeah, you seemed to have a piece of paper on your hand when you spoke." Shao Yunlu said.

Punishment of the heavens? Could it be talking about my severed heart? Did I find something I shouldn't have on the paper that made me go crazy? But why don't I remember any of it?

Shao Mingzhu's face fell and scratched his head trying to find any scattered memory that could help him solve this current mystery, but to his disappointment, nothing came to mind.

I should've absorbed all of my current memories, so trying to remember something would be extremely difficult as it's no longer something that will come passively to me.

By the sounds of my sister's words, she didn't have much interaction with me.

This is a given since she has her own work and life to live and can't be bothered with me, an adult.

Shao Mingzhu let a slight sigh from his lips, and rubbed his temples on his forehead lightly and thanked his sister.

"Thanks, if you remember anything, tell me. Also, did you have any reason for barging into my room today?" Shao Mingzhu said, turning to face his sister's eyes.

"Not much really. Today is the day I got paid, and I got a decent bit of pay this month and want to go out shopping. If you want to join you can. Oh yeah, I'm also going out with that beauty co-worker of mine, and I can match the two of you up. How about it, tempted?" Shao Yunlu said, her face turning sly as she spoke.

Her sadness has mainly faded now knowing her brother's situation and isn't in any big troubles or what not. Now she just wants to hook her brother up on a date and become the match maker for it.

Hehe, if I can get the two of them to agree, I'll watch their date on the sidelines and take notes so I can stage the perfect dates and make the two of them marry early, have children, then grandchildren…

Shao Yunlu's mind wandered as she let out a little giggle from her lips, with a little bit of saliva dripping from her mouth.

"Yunlu!" Shao Mingzhu shouted at her, seeing that she wasn't responding to his words.

As her mind wandered away from the present world, Shao Mingzhu already agreed on heading out. He wanted to see this world for his own "eyes" and experience the life of cultivators.

If he had a heart right now, it would surely be pumping with lots of blood due to his excitement.

"Huh? What is it?" Shao Yunlu said, her voice slurring a bit when she responded.

"I said I agree on going out. Let me get washed up first and then we can leave." Shao Mingzhu said helplessly.

"Oh, oh. Alright, I'll wait for you."

Saying that, she got up from his bed and hurried out of his room in embarrassment.

Shao Yunlu, oh Shao Yunlu! How could you lose yourself in your own brother's future wedding?

Shao Yunlu gave a weak complaint in her heart and rushed to her own room to get washed up.

Back in Shao Mingzhu's room, he let out a sigh of relief when his sister left. The burden on his mind has been halved, and only when he figures out to get a new heart or at least recover from his current situation, his mind will be at ease.

Heading to his personal bathroom, Shao Mingzhu entered it and took off his jacket and shirt. Hanging the clothing on a rack to the right of the entrance, he stared at the medium sized hole where his heart should be.

This will never be shocking. How do I even take a shower like this? I cannot fathom the pain of water dripping on the hole. Just thinking about it is making my body ache.

Shao Mingzhu's hands trembled slightly as he stared himself down in the mirror.

The missing heart is really tearing his mind apart.

I guess I'll just wipe myself down with a hot wet cloth and ignore the left side of my body for now.

Shao Mingzhu grabbed a cloth that was hanging off of a tall glass wall that was a part of the shower and opened the glass door. Opening the door, Shao Mingzhu grabbed a bottle of soap from within and stepped out and closed the door behind him.

With the two items obtained, he walked to his sink and turned the tap on with hot water and began to wipe down his body.

I got to say, this guy kept his body in shape! Man, I wish I had a body like this on earth. Shao Mingzhu's voice was laced with envy.

No matter, this body is now mine.

With a chuckle, Shao Mingzhu put the cloth back up on the shower door and put back on his shirt and jacket. He even changed into a pair of white pants.

When my heart is completely restored, I'll do a full body wash. Right now, I don't want to take that risk of getting water on my "heart."

Walking out of his bathroom, he made his way to his door and opened it and stepped into the living room.

The living room carried the elegance of a Victorian parlor; armchairs with carved designs, a wide hearth, and shelves lined with aged books, but all of it was born from the trunk of a massive black tree that pierced the sky.

Their apartment was carved from a tree, and most places do this as well. The rich life Qi helps with cultivation for younger cultivators, so housing made from actual materials were rare due to the nature of Qi.

If you don't preserve the material correctly or mix them with others it will cause the Qi from within to disappear.

This made buying man made building impossible for the common class.

As Shao Mingzhu walked around, his eyes took in the walls curved in smooth, dark grain, and the furniture seemed to grow seamlessly out of the floor itself, shaped from roots and knots rather than built by human hands.

Even the mantle and lamps appeared to be drawn out of the wood, twisted into their forms by the tree's own life.

Sitting down on one of the furniture in the room, Shao Mingzhu lifted his head up to see a green sapling that shone with light. He stared at it for a while, taking in the smell of aged wood and sap before his sister finally came out of her room.

"Ready?" She asked, brushing her long black flowing to the side.

"Yeah, been for a while." Shao Mingzhu said, getting up and stretching his body.

Shao Yunlu snorted and shook her head, "You've been waiting for three minutes, do you think I can't smell you?"

Shao Mingzhu's face turned strange, and gave her a weird look.

"Hey, it's an ability of an alchemist, ok! It's not like I want to smell you." She said, dissatisfied with his weird look.

"Whatever, shall we go?"

Shao Yunlu nodded her head and took his right arm as they walked to the front door.
