Max went downstairs and ordered his food as he sat on his table he started looking at people to use his new skill.
He looked towards a table with 3 men sitting and drinking, while he thought in his mind and used his skill [mind's eye] on all 3 guys and it used 2mp for each of them. It opened 3 panels infront of him with name, age, race and HP and MP but nothing more than that not like his own detailed stats.
He looked at their HP and MP and then checked out a few other people present there and for most MP was 0 and HP was around average of 150. Which meant they were normal civilians not hunters or adventurers.
While he was checking people out his food came to his table it was Venison herb stew with cabbage and a side of crusty bread which didn't look very good to a man from a modern world but he had been living here for 16 years so this was pretty standard actually above average.
He started eating and it was quite delicious he was halfway done when the waitress brought him a mug of ale and gave a smile seeing him gulping down the food.
Waitress-"the food here is good but not that good, you must have been hungry"
she said as she left his table to attend others.
As Max was almost finished eating a man walked in he had big built muscles all over a big axe hanging on his back as he was ordering his food Max got curious and used his skill on the big man and his status popped up.
Name-Hugo Narev
Age-45
Race-Human
HP-650/650
MP-180/180
Max was bit surprised to see his HP which was more than 3 times his own but his MP was even less than Max. So it was certain that this guy is an adventure and a physical fighter by the looks of it so that's why his MP is on the low side. Max finished his meal but all the while kept staring glances at the man which the other man noticed and got up with his mug and came to Max's table and sat opposite him.
Hugo-"So what's the matter boy? Why do you keep staring?"
Max was not startled by the man as he hadn't done anything wrong.
Max-"Sorry mister, I was just looking at you axe. Are you an adventurer by chance?"
Hugo-"oh, hahaha this thing, yeah it's a big one I guess you are new everyone else is used to seeing it and yes I'm an adventurer why do you ask?"
Max-"nothing particular, I was just curious and wanted to become one myself maybe but I don't think I can carry something like that anytime soon"
He said with a nervous chuckle as the axe was quite big even if Max was 6ft the other guy was above 7 and big built the axe he had looked to around more than half of Max's weight.
Hugo-"oh you want to be an adventurer, that's good and don't worry you will grow stronger in time, it hasn't been long since I became one, I used to do simple work before I became an adventure just 2 years ago and I don't even do too much but I still got a lot stronger than I was before, you will get hurt in early stage but don't give up kid and you will see the results."
Saying that he got up paid his money to the barkeep and left the place.
Max sat there for a while observing other people and then walked upto his room to get some sleep before he starts his life as an adventurer tomorrow.
Next morning, Max washed up and got dressed in greyish tunic and some lose trousers with sturdy leather boots and put on his dark blue cloak with a hood that he usually used when going hunting. He didn't have any other armor so this was his best choice. He took his 4 sliver and 45 copper coins with him and left the remaining stuff in his room. He walked downstairs and asked the waitress he was familiar with about the adventurer guild. It took him about 5 mint walk to reach the building.
The building was mainly made of stone with some wood here and there not like the small huts he had seen in the village. There was noise of people talking and laughing which he could hear even outside the building. The building wasn't that big since it was just a branch in a small town. Max walked in saw people drinking, talking and laughing all over, some were sharing stories about their adventures as he overheard while walking to the reception. Max kept using his skill to check these people out and was surprised to see most of the people here had HP over 500.
Max approached the reception desk and was greeted by girl around his own age.
Girl-"Good morning to you mister. I'm Cindy the receptionist here. What can I do for you?"
Max-"Good morning miss. I'm new in town and wanted to register to become and adventurer."
Cindy-"oh a newbie huh, well first you need to learn about the rules and whatnot before you can get you adventurer id."
She said and pointed to a room saying "Go to that room and wait a bit."
Max followed the instructions and went to room. It was like a classroom with desk chairs a podium infront. There were 2 more guys about the same age inside the room. Max greeted them and took a spot. Just then an older man walked in and said "I'm Branch manager Otto, you can call me master Otto or just Otto is fine too."
Otto-"so you 3 want to be adventurers, before that it's my job to tell you the basics. So first comes adventurer rankings its starts from Rank F being the weakest n goes up-to S maybe even above that but that's not common, most adventurers can't pass Rank B in their lives."
All three boys were listening as branch master Otto was explaining some basic rules like no fighting among themselves, if it seem dangerous run away don't needlessly risk your life and stuff like that. After he was done he told them they can now get their ids from the reception after filling the form and they can either take quests or go on random hunts and bring back the stuff they get and the guild will buy what they want to sell.
Max left the room and went to reception filled out a form with basic info his name, age and race and showed his id as proof he got from the guard at the gate and got his adventurer id card.
Cindy-"Since you are going out and if you hunt something you will need to bring it back would you like and item bag, it has 10 slots. It will cost you 10 copper coins to rent the item bag for a day"
Max had his own inventory but he couldn't show it to people without giving an explanation so he decided to rent the item bag from the guild and left the building and went across the street to buy a weapon from the store.
It was blacksmiths shops he had various dagger, short n long swords hanging on the racks, they were axes, bows and other weapons as well. Max was looking around when the shopkeeper spoke up "what can I do for you boy?"
Max-"oh hello sir, I want to buy a sword but nothing too big or expensive"
shopkeeper-"well this a small town shop so I don't have anything expensive here anyways, since it looks like this will be your first sword how about this one it one handed and not too heavy."
He picked up a sword and set it on his table. The sword was about 2.5ft long, Max picked it up and it didn't feel heavy like the guy said.
Shopkeeper-"Come with me"
he gestured max to follow him as he went to the back of the shop.
Max followed behind him and saw it was like a small workshop and then noticed a dummy which the shopkeeper was pointing to and saying "this is an older version of the dummies they use in big cities to check attack strength and whatnot. I got in an auction come on over n attack it with the sword and see the result"
Max had read n seen these kinds of things in manga and novels back on earth so he wasn't that surprised that something like it exists. Max walked up to the dummy held the sword tight and gave it a swing. The dummy glowed a bit and then then number 30 appeared floating above its head.
Shopkeeper-"see the numbers that's more or less your attack power, I tested the dummy with an adventurer the other day and that number was 110, and you are just starting out it seems, so your number isn't bad."
Max nodded after hearing the shopkeeper and then bought the sword for 1 silver coin. The shopkeeper gave a sheath and a belt for free this time and Max left the shop happy and thinking about his status. The question he had in his mind was how he gained [Mind's eye skill].
Just then the system spoke and said [The skill was obtained after analyzing the stone tablet he held in the security office. The system adapted and created a skill from it.]
Max was surprised at that as he still had no idea how his system worked but he was learning as time passed. Then he opened his status tab and saw he had 10 available points form the level up. He wanted to test it out and as he thought about it he invested 1 point in Vitality and intelligence and saw his HP and MP increase by 20.
"So it's like I figured earlier 1 point is worth 20 but it's different for other stats if it was the same my attack on the dummy would have shown 200 instead of 30."
He was thinking to himself as he left the town n walking toward the forest.
