Chapter 49 - Rivalry

Tristan stared at Os with a vague, uncomfortable feeling of familiarity.

"Um…have we met?" Tristan asked as Os tilted his head in confusion, not knowing what Tristan meant.

"I'm sorry, but I believe this is the first time we've met, Tristan," Os said as his polite tone remained; he had put on one of the most innocent facades that could easily fool anyone.

[Warning]

[From his high-pitched tone I sense that Os Araiel is lying!]

"Yeah, L.I.F.E's right. The guy that stands before you is Jester, one of the members of Dark World." Raven added with a serious look on his face, but Tristan remained confused as he casually smiled at Tristan.

"I want to say you're lying, but for some strange reason I'm so on edge just by being close to him. And he sounds like the person who attacked us during the first day of the exam festival." Tristan said as a bead of sweat ran down his skin.

"You're right. The reason you feel like that is because of his murderous intention; it's likely both Jester and Os are the same person." Raven said as he stared at Os with a wave of wariness. Tristan, on the other hand, flinched at what Raven had said; disbelief and fear had consumed him as his face went pale.

"Um, how.w..w did you know my name when I don't even know yours ?" Tristan asked with a nervous tone, his voice cracking from insane pressure. On the other hand, Os didn't know what to say regarding that question; he had subconsciously blurted out Tristan's name when only Jester knew what his name was.

"Um, you see well—

"Oh my gosh, aren't you Tristan !" A girl with short black hair yelled as she grabbed Tristan's hand in a wave of excitement; her eyes were also black, and she was considerably beautiful for her young age. It was clear it was Savier, Os's assistant. "I saw you on the news last week as you fought that griffin and saved all those people, and truly I am a huge fan." She said, her eyes gleamed in joy, but this was all but an act; if she hadn't stepped in and distracted Tristan, surely Os would've been caught.

"That's right, I nearly forgot to get an autograph from you. Please could you sign my T-shirt !"

"That's right your famous now. Could you take a selfie with me for my viewers!"

"Hey, ghoul boy, look over here and say cheese!" Clamours and footstep's could be heard as all the student in the hall way fought for Tristan's attention, pulling out their phones to take pictures and asking for autographs from him, some didn't even know him aside from the fact that he was on TV and a he's a ghoul so the just called him ghoul boy, a name that was strangely direct his supposed blood race. But as the crowd hovered around Tristan, Savier and Os had fled the halls, Tristan quietly watched both of them leave as the crowd grew around him.

"INTRODUCING THE DAUGHTER OF SOL FAMILY… BIANCA SOL." A loud voice yelled from the end of the hall way; everyone quickly fixed their attention towards the end of the hall way those who could see who was coming quickly moved aside as they lowered their heads in fear as a girl with long blonde hair and red eyes walked through the hall emanatting the presence fit for that of high ranking status, she paid no mind to the rest of the students as they all moved away in fear creating a straight path towards Tristan, Eira and Galaxy's group that were in the center of all this comotion. The girl named Bianca had two girls behind her back and three muscular boys who followed her like they were some kind of cartel. Besides that, they also emanated the same high-ranking vibe that Bianca did but on a much smaller scale than hers.

"Are you Tristan?" She asked, her tone filled with disdain and her face cringing like she had seen shit.

"Uh, yes?!… and who are you?" Tristan shot back, feeling a bit confused by what was going on.

"Please, if you're talking to Lady Bianca or any of us for that matter, you should be lowering your head." A tall, muscular guy with short green hair and orange eyes said as he walked up to Tristan while giving his strange order; his name was Felix Cabier; he was the son of a noble from the Cabier house.

The air was tense; the other students remained silent, no one uttered a word. Galaxy's group watched silently, waiting for their captain's orders, but Galaxy was still quiet… watching as everything began to unfold like a play.

I'm confused. What's going on here?

Tristan wondered to himself as he questioned how everything had escalated to this point.

"I see now, so it's basically the rich kid group who are also bullies- kind of thing!" Raven said in a wave of realisation, although Tristan didn't know what he meant by that.

"What are you spouting now, Raven?" Tristan asked, not wanting to get more confused than he already is.

"Don't you know I'm talking about those kinds of cliché tropes you'd see in a classic romance k-drama, or any film that shows student life, like the {Miraculous tales of beetle bug and dog noir}!" Raven said as he ranted on and on about shows that don't exist.

[Permission from Master to block interference from The spirit raven for 20 minutes?] The L.I.F.E system asked.

"Permission granted!" Tristan quickly replied before Raven could say anything, and in an instance ravens spiritual form disappeared and could only be seen and heard after 20 minutes had passed.

"Hey, are you deaf, ghoul boy—" As Cabier uttered those words, the hall grew colder as black ice formed around the hall.

"Before I took the practical exam during the exam festival, I thought I gave a strict warning to everyone in this school… I said anyone who touches the boy will die." A cold, firm voice echoed as the crowd went silent. Malachi, Alex, and Mimi walked into the scene as the students muttered at their entrance.

"Well, if it isn't the famous Ice Prince, it is a pleasure to meet someone of your caliber—" Before Cabier could complete what he was saying, Alex kicked him hard in the gut, making him crouch on one knee. Malachi then sat on his back like a seat and faced Bianca.

"Well, well, well, we meet again, Bianca…. What are you doing here?" Malachi asked as he stared at her with a look of nonchalance; clearly her title didn't mean anything to Malachi, as he himself comes from a much higher status than hers.

"Oh my darling husband, I was just trying to acquire a new toy that seemed interesting, and I just wondered if he could be useful to me," Bianca said in a pure, innocent manner. Her eyes were filled with lust and infatuation over Malachi that anyone could notice.

"If you ever call me your husband, I'll encase you in a coffin of black ice and use you as a decoration piece in my ice gallery," Malachi said, his tone cold and commanding. It was clear they had both met before coming to the academy, and he clearly didn't seem comfortable around Bianca. "Another piece of advice: Tristan is my property. Anyone who dares lay a finger on him will become nothing but ice statues when I'm done with them." Malachi said as Bianca just grinned at him, which seemed to clearly annoy him.

"Now I'm more interested in you, Tristan, if you have my dear Mal guarding you like this," Bianca said as she narrowed her gaze at Tristan. This seemed to make Tristan feel more uncomfortable, but soon enough she turned to leave. "Very well, Sugar bear, I'll stay away from your property… for now at least. Well, Cabier, when you're done being a stool for my darling, come meet us in the class." Bianca said as both she and her group left the scene. Cabier, on the other hand, was sweating nervously. He wanted to say something, but he didn't dare.

"Come on, Mal, his friends are gonna leave him behind," Alex said with a grin he was clearly mocking Cabier.

"You're the one who kicked him, but you're right; I wouldn't want to embarrass him any further," Malachi said as he hopped off Cabier's back.

"Thank you…for you…hospitality," Cabier said almost as if he was bottling up his rage; his face had veins popping up as he got up and left the scene as well.

After the incident had cleared up, Finn and the rest of the student council chased all the students to their class, till it was remaining Eira's group, Tristan's, and the Student council.

"You're as prideful as ever!" Eira said as she stared at Malachi.

"Says you, Eira!" Malachi replied with a grin on his face; he seemed to be having fun.

"Anyways, why are you here? I thought you normally had better things to do than waste your time." Mimi curiously asked Eira as she stared at her group, noticing Storm and his Lackey Neji behind Eira's usual group.

"Well, wouldn't the little girly like to know?" Storm said in a mocking tone as he finally spoke up.

"We just came to ask your friend over there a few questions, but now we'll be taking our leave!" Eira said, but before she could leave, she bumped into someone on her way. It was a beautiful lady; she wore glasses and had long, beautiful blonde hair. Her eyes had a beautiful shade of sparkling ruby; her name was Valareia Blackwood, a teacher at the academy.

"And where do you think you're going?" Valeria glared as Eira's confidence shrank; she was now like a child in front of her mother as she scrambled her brain looking for a good excuse to give Valeria.

"Miss Val?! What are you doing here? I thought all the teachers were at the meeting?" Eira asked as she slowly and nervously averted her gaze from Valeria's.

"I told you and your team to stay in the classroom 30 minutes before the meeting, and I find you here trying to kill an innocent child!" Valeria's voice intensified as she scolded Eira and her team.

"Oh, you saw that little scene," Eira muttered as she began to sweat nervously.

"I'm so sorry for the trouble she caused. Could you find it in your heart to forgive her?" Valeria pleaded as she bowed to Tristan.

She's so kind and polite

Tristan thought as he quickly bowed, "Please, no, you don't need to bow. I don't mind, Eira!" Tristan said as he begged her not to bow.

"Are you sure? She must have caused you a lot of trouble, and I'll make sure it doesn't happen 'again'" Valeria promised as she emphasised the word again while glaring at Eira by the side, who was pouting like a brat.

"It's alright. Miss Eira's kind of intense, but I'm sure she's a really nice person." Tristan answered as he gave Eira a warm smile. Eira, who was caught off guard, was stunned by what Tristan had said. Soon after, Eira's memories were filled with a blurry image of a young boy with silver hair saying the same thing. Eira quickly regained her cold nature towards Tristan and gave him a death stare.

"Eira, let's go; you don't want to be late for class!" Valeria announced as both Eira and her team left the scene as they walked towards their class.

"Guys, we don't want to be late as well, so I suggest we start going as well," Mimi added as Tristan and his group ran towards their class as well, leaving only the student council members and Valeria in the hallway.

"Good morning, Miss Valeria Blackwood. It's so nice to see you this morning." Galaxy said as she bowed her head.

"Oh, please just call me Miss Val, alright, Galaxy. I trust I can leave the rest of the morning patrol to the student council." Valeria replied as she smiled. Galaxy nodded in response to her question as she walked away from the hall.

So that was Tristan; what an interesting fellow

Valeria thought as she looked at the morning sun through the window.

"All of you get detention for coming late to class !" A man with curly hair and brown eyes scolded Tristan and his friends as they stood in front of the doors of their class.
