Chapter 48 - Eira's suspicions

Galaxy and Tristan stared at each other; the air between them felt so awkward and suffocating. Neither of them said anything to the other and just stared in silence.

"… I'm sorry," Galaxy said as she broke the thick ice in the air. She apologised, but it seemed to catch everyone off guard, even Tristan.

"Oh, I see what's going on here!" Raven chimmed in as he appeared beside Tristan; he had realised something about Galaxy that felt quite similar to the way Tristan's mood had been this morning.

"What's wrong, Raven?" Tristan asked Raven as he stared at Galaxy in surprise.

"Just continue the conversation, Tristan, and be honest with her; it will help a lot," Raven said as Tristan silently agreed, not knowing what Raven meant but still decided to put his true feelings out in the open.

"I'm the one who should be sorry, Galaxy… even though you invited me to the gala party for the mission, I was completely a failure," Tristan said as he stared at his hands that began to tremble out of self-doubt; his expression seemed sad as he recalled the events that transpired in Night City.

"I'm the incompetent one. Even though I invited you, I put you in harm's way and nearly got you killed. I was the failure." Galaxy said as guilt set in; memories of Tristan's dead body flashed in her mind.

"For once we agree on something !" Eira said as she walked into the scene; behind her were Natty, Aries, Ruby, and, surprisingly, Storm, the same guy who had been defeated by Eira during the Exam festival.

Eira's grin was evident as she stared at Galaxy, but Galaxy, on the other hand, remained silent; her guilt made her agree to Eira's words.

"You sure have some guts for a first year." Finn and Evan didn't even waste time as they drew their blades and both appeared behind Eira, the blades pressed on her neck as they glared at her.

"You disgust me, scum like you doesn't deserve to be in Obsidian academy," Evan said as he glared at her, but Eira was as calm as ever.

"Sending your dogs to fight your battle? Student Council president !" Eira said, her tone filled with mockery as she snapped her fingers and immediately Natty had created a wall in between Finn and Evan to protect Eira, and in response to the sudden attack, they both distance themselve from Eira. It was clear her magic proficiency had increased since the Exam festival, which was last week.

"I heared what happened at the gala I must say you did out do yourselve Tristan…but what I want to know is how your still breathing, even at the exam festival during your fight with aries, your head was completely blown off but no one seemed to care maybe because they thought it was some special effect's, but after playing the videos of the match and also asking aries they both confirmed.…you were dead," Eira asked as she shift her gaze and attention to Tristan, everyone remained quiet not knowing what she meant, but Tristan and galaxy squad knew.

"What are you saying—"

"Shut up, you animal; no one asked you!" Eira quickly shut Mark down as he tried to change the subject.

"Stop playing games during the live broadcast. Your heart was clearly ripped out; you were dead. I knew what I saw!" Eira said as other students gathered around them. They pulled out their phones and began to stream the conversation live, even though Finn said his organisation had covered up the report; if people who had watched the live broadcast heard such rumors, all eyes would be on Tristan.

Tristan remained silent; he didn't even react; he just stood there as the crowd awaited an answer. "Checkmate, kid, so what are you gonna do now?" Raven asked as he stared at Tristan. He had never had an opportunity to notice Eira before, but now that he did, he had concluded that she was dangerous.

[Suggestion, Master should play along; considering your encounter with her in the past, she's egotistical and loves being right.] The system, as Tristan seemed rather confused at the suggestion. "I see what L.I.F.E is trying to say, taunt her let her try and prove her point by trying to kill you!" Raven said as he sounded like a maniac to Tristan. Tristan was against the idea for many various reasons.

"You guys are insane. What about my regeneration? We'll prove she's right and then I'll be all over the internet!" Tristan said as he pointed out the plan's obvious flaw.

"Don't worry about that; just do it, or you'll look suspicious in front of everyone," Raven said as he pressurised Tristan, who had no say in the matter. "Oh, and be convincing so she won't catch on to the plan!" Tristan gulped hard as Raven said those words.

Tristan stepped in front of Eira as he braced himself for what was to come. "You could chop my head if you want!" Tristan's words left everyone stunned; even the oh-so-confident Eira was shaken a little, as she did not expect Tristan to say what he just said. He pulled down his collar, showing his neck as if he was edging her to strike his neck.

"What's the matter, scared!" Tristan said with a grin as he hoped that Eira wouldn't bite the bait, as he knew her sick and twisted mentality.

Eira stopped for a second, then gave Tristan a wide grin that was devoid of sanity. Even though she didn't know what aura was, she emitted a strong killing intent instead, and Raven, Finn, and Evan had already caught on to what she was about to do.

"Tristan you were right this plan was trash that girl isn't right in the head, by the way she's standing she's planning to rip out both your brain and heart at the same time, not even giving you romom to regenerate, she isn't planning on proving that you can regenerate, she's planning to kill you and she's subconciously using aura without even realising it!" Raven warned, but it was too late; Eira had already begun to approach, but before she could deliver the killing blows, a boy tripped right in front of Eira. He had blonde hair with silver highlights; he also had elven-like ears, which implied that he was an elf (golden Blood class), and he had green eyes and wore eyeglasses.

"I'm so sorry, miss. I didn't mean to interrupt." The elf boy said as Eira came to her senses, but Finn and Evan quickly pinned her to the ground as they tightened their grip around their arms.

Tristan stepped back and fell to the ground as the elf boy stood up. He picked up his glass that fell towards Tristan and then stretched his hands towards Tristan.

"Sorry, are you alright?" The elf boy asked as Tristan nodded and accepted his help, as the boy pulled Tristan up.

"Thank you so much ...um, sorry, what's your name?" Tristan asked with a warm smile, not knowing what to call the boy.

"Call me Os… Os Araiel, alright," he said with a sly, devious grin that said more than it showed.
