The wail of ambulance sirens tore through the night as Enes's eyes clung to his father's lifeless body. Paramedics rushed, the crowd held its breath.
— "Father! Fatherrr!" Enes screamed, shoving through the people.
A paramedic pushed him back.
— "Kid, stay back! You're in the way!"
Enes tried to reach for his father's hand but couldn't. The doors slammed shut, and the sirens faded into the distance. Silence, heavy and suffocating, remained.
Remzi approached, his trembling hands clutching a bloodstained crumpled paper.
— "Enes… I found this on the ground. Look."
Through the smears of blood, a sentence was still visible:
> "This is the fate of those who resist us."
Enes's face tightened, tears mixed with rage in his eyes.
— "It was them… that cursed mafia!"
The neighbors lowered their heads.
— "Hush, son… you'll bring trouble on yourself."
— "No one dares stand against Halit Yıldırım."
Enes shouted, voice cracking:
— "They killed my father! How can I stay silent?"
---
A few blocks away, in a black car, Necip lit a cigarette as he dialed his phone.
— "Officer… you're heading to the scene, right?"
A muffled voice came through.
— "Don't worry. The team is on their way. The case will be closed."
Necip exhaled smoke with a smirk.
— "Good. Don't forget the cameras. The recordings on that corner must disappear."
— "It'll be done. Your boss's name won't appear anywhere."
Necip chuckled darkly.
— "Perfect. The name Halit Yıldırım won't even stain a scrap of paper."
---
Hours passed at the hospital. Enes sat slumped against the wall, hands clenched together, eyes blank.
At last, the doctor emerged, face pale, eyes heavy.
— "I'm sorry… we did everything we could. But your father couldn't be saved."
Enes's breath caught. The world crumbled beneath him.
— "No… no, this can't be true!"
He staggered back against the wall, knees trembling, clutching his head.
— "Father… don't leave me… please don't leave me!"
The doctor bowed his head and walked away.
Then, a policeman in a dark uniform approached. He carried a file under his arm, his gaze fixed on Enes.
— "Son… my condolences."
Enes's anger flared.
— "Where were you, huh? Why didn't you protect him? Everyone knows who did this!"
The policeman lowered his voice, glancing around.
— "Listen, boy… don't talk too much. For your own good, stay out of this."
Enes gritted his teeth.
— "So you do know… yet you do nothing!"
The policeman's tone sharpened, a cold smile on his lips.
— "Some battles can't be won. Accept it—or you'll share your father's fate."
Enes's eyes blazed red with fury.
— "Get out! You betrayed him too! But I'll never stay silent!"
The policeman walked away, leaving Enes broken but burning with rage.
---
The day of the funeral arrived. People gathered, but their eyes carried more fear than grief. Most came and left quietly, unwilling to speak aloud.
Remzi stood beside Enes.
— "Son… you must be strong. It's what your father would want."
Enes closed his eyes, lips trembling.
— "Strong? They took him from me, Remzi… Nothing will ever make me feel strong again."
---
That night, Enes sat alone in his room. On the table lay his father's walking cane and the bloodstained note. He picked up the cane, fingers gripping it tight.
— "Father… you always taught me to stand tall. Now I swear to you…"
Tears rolled down his cheeks, but his voice hardened like steel.
— "This blood will not remain unavenged. No matter the cost, I will make them pay!"
---
Elsewhere, in Halit Yıldırım's mansion, Necip delivered his report. Halit, dressed in a black suit, reclined in his chair, smoke curling from his cigarette.
— "Is it done?" he asked in a low voice.
Necip bowed his head.
— "Yes, boss. Zeyni is gone. The neighborhood got the message. The police handled their part."
Halit smirked, nodding with satisfaction.
— "Good. Everyone saw what happens to those who resist."
After a pause, he looked at Necip.
— "Did that man have family?"
Necip shifted.
— "A son… around twenty. His name's Enes."
Halit laughed dismissively.
— "Ha… not even worth the effort of looking into. What could a boy do? Nothing."
Silence settled in the room, heavy and fateful. And within that silence, Enes's destiny was already being written.
