After a long first academic day, Rohan has at last completed all his classes for the day, and is now able to rest and take leisure with how he'd spend his time. He was accustomed to his new classes, and already met people in ones where he didn't know anyone prior, which he didn't need but he appreciated he was able to do.
He met someone new who was a potential friend, who he was now slightly unsure about due to her constant collapsing and seeming loss of mind in class, but even it was the idea that he could easily find someone and spark a conversation with them.
Even though he is identified more as an introvert, if he needed people, he could more than easily find someone, even better than many extroverts could.
After regrouping with the Shuraj and the others, the group headed to the main hall, where they dined their last meal for the day. Ara and Ari ate pasta, Sriya had chicken and rice, Vrey got a sandwich, Shuraj was eating a burger, and Rohan gave himself a salad. They ate and conversed in the same bench closest to the exit, still the dominant group of the bench, larger than most groups even after the week for other students to find their own.
Once more, Rohan notices the absence of his brother, which allows concern to graze him before he reinforces himself with the hope and belief that Dexter was able to find other friends, and his absence was simply a sign that he had somewhere else to be.
Rohan smiles to himself after the judgement, but he's snapped out of his thoughts by Shuraj, who asks him "So, how was class alone? Sorry you didn't have us to get the answers off of, I promise I'll help you after class!"
Rohan chuckles, as both of them knew it was a joke, and a subtle reminder that Shuraj was no doubt going to be asking Rohan for more than a little aid in the form of giving answers.
Sriya shakes his head with a smile, and he turns to Rohan, who sat beside him, and he gives a soft nudge before asking "Do you remember when the tryouts are?"
Rohan turns to him, and he shakes his head, responding "No, but I can check later. It hasn't happened yet though, that's for sure. I'd say probably in a few weeks or so."
Sriya nods his head, and he returns back to eating his food, his mind clearly still on sports even after the long academic day.
While Rohan saw it as concerning how little Sriya seemed to prioritize his classes, it was also true that an exceptional athlete could find a path alternative to that of the typical, as while they may not work in an office, they'll work somewhere, and potentially secure an even better future.
Of course, that future was a risky one, and especially with all the dangers of being an athlete such as injuries, Rohan couldn't see himself logically going down such a path, but if he also had no right to try swaying Sriya from what was clearly his calling.
After about an hour, the group finishes their food, and they head out of the hall. They walk and talk up to their dorm building, and enter the lobby which was lowly populated, expected due to the dark skies and the fact that most students were either eating or asleep.
They all take one elevator pad up to the top floor, able to snatch one unoccupied to save themselves the tortuous ride up and down until they would be let to decide. Some of the other pads also seemed to be in use, so it was clear there were others moving up and down, but luckily one was spared.
The elevator doors open, and the group walks onto the top floor. Rohan turns to Shuraj and waves his hand before saying "Goodnight, I'll see you all tomorrow."
Shuraj nods his head, and he asks, "Should we go to the cafe in the building for breakfast? It would be faster than the hall."
Rohan thinks for a moment, and he puts his hand on his chin, contemplating. He knew that the mornings were the one time when he could be with Dexter, but if Dexter already had friends, then he should be fine.
Rohan lifts his head and nods, replying "Maybe, I'll let you know over text. But probably, I'll tell you in the morning, probably before you wake up."
Shuraj smirks, and he nods back, remarking "It'll be a nice good morning text then, well see ya!"
Rohan responds with his own goodbye, and the two depart from the elevator, taking opposite routes. The other four follow Shuraj, and Rohan walks himself down his side, no longer needing the map as he now memorized the way back to his dorm.
After making some turns and going down the proper corridor, Rohan reaches the end of the shorter hall, and turns to his right where he finds his door. He then lets the door scan his Connect, and the door opens to allow entry. He steps inside, and the door shuts promptly.
Rohan lets out a deep sigh of relief, tired from the long day, as he takes off his jacket and approaches the closet to put it in. His eyes dart around the room, checking to see if Dexter is there, as he hopes to talk to him.
He finds Dexter laying in bed, unclear to be awake or asleep, but clearly exhausted.
Rohan sighs, and he stops in front of his closet before letting it absorb his jacket. He opens the closet's inventory screen, and swipes through his choices before picking out pajamas. Once he does, a light is projected from the closet and onto his body.
He allows the machine to begin changing him, as the clothing he initially wears begins to vanish. Assuming that Dexter was asleep, he continues to change. The light replaces his pants with his shorts, and it replaces his shirt with his nightshirt. He changes silently, making sure not to make unnecessary sounds, not wanting to disturb.
However, as his shirt is placed on him, Dexter speaks anyways, as his eyes seem to be open, staring at the ceiling of the dorm, for he wasn't asleep but instead merely resting. He says in an exhausted voice, "Hey, you know there's a way to hide yourself, right? I don't need to see you naked."
Rohan turns to Dexter, surprised by the sudden voice, as he wasn't expecting it. He then lets out a soft sigh and smile, partially relieved his brother was awake, and he responds, "I didn't think you were awake, but I'll make sure to remember for next time. Sorry."
Dexter lets out a sigh, and he asks, "How was your day?"
Rohan walks to his bed before throwing himself on it, and then moving for the bedside table. As he does, he answers, "Fine, for the first class there was some note taking, but besides that it was nothing. How about you?"
Dexter answers back, "Oh, I also had some note taking, but it was all introductory, nothing too hard. It'll probably get harder soon though, especially some of the classes I was dumb enough to choose to take for the first year."
Rohan takes his Connect off, and he places it on the table beside his bed to rest. He then pats the soft mattress, and turns to Dexter. His soft smile turns to a more concerned frown, and he asks, "So uh, did you meet anyone today? Any friends? I didn't see you at lunch or dinner so I assumed you were with others."
Dexter sighs, and he shakes his head, instead revealing "No, I didn't really. I sat alone to eat actually, sorry, I should've told you. And you did nothing wrong, so don't say sorry."
Rohan keeps his frown, if anything it worsens, and he turns to face the desk, staring at it as he reminds "You can still sit with us you know. And for the first day everyone was stressed, give it a few days or a week until you start having group work, then you'll find people."
Dexter gives a soft laugh, and he replies "Maybe, I wasn't expecting too much today anyways, it was only the first day."
Rohan turns his frown to a smile, and he says with a hopeful tone, "And we still have many more days to come."
He then lays down on his bed, and stares up along with Dexter, staring at the plain white ceiling.
Dexter responds in a soft and more tired voice, "Only the first day of the first year, yay. Can't wait for when the weekly assessments begin happening, I'd give it a week to start."
Rohan turns to his side, and stares at the window to the night world. He lets out a soft sigh to Dexter's pessimism, and he then proceeds to yawn, clearly tired as well. He finally responds, "And you'll ace them all, Dex."
He closes his eyes as he stares at the moon, drifting off to sleep, and following him Dexter does the same. The two sleep soundly, their first day of class complete, and it was a long day.
