Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The sound of a door opening was the first stimulus taken, which prompts an immediate awakening, as he instantly sits up from his bed, his eyes opening wide to look at what had intruded into his bedroom.

He seems to be a young skinny man with an appearance similar to that of a Latino, wearing a plain white shirt as pajamas, with short messy hair and alerted eyes. Behind him is the back of his room, which has white walls that seem to be made of some shiny metallic material, with what seemed to be plaques stuck to the wall, plaques which seem to be regarding some event called "Inventicon," each with his name engraved on it.

The teen's eyes stare eagerly at the direction of the door for a moment, his body tense in anxiety, as he feels immediately drawn to a flight or fight state, especially after experiencing the rather odd nightmare.

On the other side of the room was a continuation of the white shiny walls, this time however with rows of shelves with a similar material albeit less glossy, with the shelves filled mostly with trophies along with a few more plaques. On the white walls were a few pictures on frames, mostly being group photographs of what seemed to be large teams, standing with one another.

One of the photographs features a group of people all standing behind or next to some humanoid robot holding up a large trophy cup that seemed to have been won, which would call for the celebration.

Another photograph features a group of about fifteen boys wearing some sort of blue and white body armor with large gauntlets and heavy shoulder gear. The armor lacked a helmet in the photograph, revealing the faces of the boys, who all stood side by side, their arms wrapped over one another's shoulders with a smile. Standing in the center of the photograph was a boy with noticeably heavier armor that made him almost bulky, who held up a large golden trophy cup with both hands, holding it up for show.

Past the shelves was an arched doorway, however with no door visible, as it seemed the door that was there had become absent. In the doorway is another young adult male, who walks into the room, wearing a dark gray shirt and black pants, which appear more publicly presentable than the other's pajamas. He has long and messy black hair, along with similar blue eyes to that of his brother.

The boy smiles as he enters the bedroom, calling out with a satirically motherly voice, "Heyyyy Rohan, it's morning time, get out of bed, breakfast is already made on a plate with your name written on it!"

The boy who was sitting on the bed, who seems to have the name 'Rohan,' loosens his tense expression to that of a mixture of relief and annoyance, and he lets out a heavy sigh.

Rohan blinks twice, trying to see more clearly through the dark room, and as his eyes peer he complains, "How do you manage to make waking up even worse than it already is, Dexter?"

The intruder lets out a chuckle, and he shakes his head, seeing that he was rather tired. In an effort to quicken the wake-up process, Dexter claps twice, causing the whole room to illuminate with bright yellow light, causing Rohan to close his eyes from the intense glare, and on top of that, cover his eyes with his arm.

Dexter then asks with a mischievous grin, "Is this better?"

Rohan lets out a dramaticized groan, and he asks with a higher pitch to declare his annoyance better, "Why are you even waking me up today anyways? My Connect alarm can do the job, and it plays more soothing music which is way better than your screeching."

Dexter approaches Rohan to his bed, and then sits down on the side of the bed, causing it to lower down from the added weight.

The bed doesn't appear to be standing on the ground, as instead it has a slim silver frame that holds up a soft mattress, and that frame seems to hover several feet in the air with nearly perfect stability, as it manages to account for the sudden addition of weight coming from Dexter's presence. There also doesn't appear to be any pillows or blankets, with the most of a pillow being a headrest that protrudes from the otherwise flat mattress.

The bed isn't too spacious however, as it's only about thirty eight inches wide and seventy five inches long, just about the size of a twin bed, although it appears to be only barely enough to hold Rohan when lying down, as even when sitting it's clear that he's outgrown the childhood bed.

Dexter leans back as he looks around the room, clearly better accustomed to the light that seemed to burn Rohan's eyes.

Dexter lets out a sigh, however rather than it being of annoyance, it was a lighter sigh that almost came off like a sigh of amusement from Rohan's innocence.

Dexter answers, "Because, today is a very special day that calls for you to be awake earlier. I'm not sure if that pillow of yours is a rock you've put over your head or something, but I mean, you know, today we may be like, hmm I dunno, moving to our dorms for...hmm I really don't remember this so well...oh yes...S-A-T, you know, because you're not in pre-class."

Rohan slowly lowers his arm, and his eyes widen. He stares at Dexter with a stopped heart, as it seemed something Dexter had said just injected him with fear.

His tone dies as his voice becomes fully serious, asking "Wait...you're joking...today…?"

Dexter lays down on the bed, and he turns his head to Rohan with a smile. He then nods his head, and replies "We leave in a few hours, you know I was worried you'd be the one doing this to me but God works in mysterious ways."

Rohan turns to stare into the abyss with nothing but a lost shockness in his eyes, as it had completely gone over his head what was to happen today.

Dexter analyzes Rohan's deadness, guessing that he needed some time to get everything together, and so he lets out a sigh. He sits back up and gets off of bed, standing to his feet and turning back to Rohan.

Dexter nods to Rohan, and he adds a "Chop chop," before walking out of the bedroom.

After Dexter leaves the bedroom, the doorway that was just open suddenly becomes covered as a cloud of white particles materializes over the doorway. The countless particles cover up the doorway and solidify to create what seems to be a door, which now secludes Rohan to his room, alone to stare into the abyss for he now knew how much he had to do all in only a few hours. As he now comes to understand, in those few hours, he would have to leave for a new home for the next several years.

Rohan gets out of bed, his hair still a mess, but that was the last of his priorities. He looks around his bedroom, as the first thought that crosses his mind is the question of what he has ready. He takes a look around his bedroom, with his eyes naturally settling on his closet door.

He walks towards the door with quick strides, rushing through his morning in an effort to meet the deadline. He breathes heavily out of his nose as he tries to keep himself calm enough to work efficiently, however he knew that his anxiety would become problematic, but his hope was to power through that.

The closet door seems to dissolve with an effect similar yet opposite to that of the main bedroom door that Dexter seems to have just closed, as the closet door instead combusts into a cloud of white particles which then seemingly vanish into thin air, as though evaporating. The opening reveals a large dresser-esc piece of furniture inside, however it doesn't seem to have any doors and openings, but rather just a large box with curved edges. As Rohan approaches the box, lights activate on the top, as if the box was a machine.

Rohan stops in front of the box as a hologram projects from the box and out in front of him, showing a menu of sorts akin to an inventory system, with a search bar at the top and different boxes in a matrix, with some of the boxes having images of pants or shirts.

Rohan puts his finger on the holographic scroller on the far right side of the image, and he begins scrolling down, causing the holographic matrix to move down and show lower rows. As he scrolls, he notices that there was hardly anything in the boxes, indicating that most of his clothing was not in the closet.

He sighs with relief to see that it seemed he had remembered to pack his clothing either the day before or earlier, as his mind was still a haze after that odd dream, and he was unsure of what he did or didn't do.

Rohan keeps scrolling until he suddenly freezes the scroll bar, and turns to one of the boxes, which had what seems like a green jacket stylized as a blazer with sleek white trims and what almost seems to be lights on it to show an indication for built-in technology.

He presses his finger on the holographic box, and then steps back, watching as the hologram closes out.

A beam of light suddenly projects from the closet box, which strikes Rohan's body. The beam is large enough that it nearly covers his body, however it leaves his head exposed.

The light intensifies as it gradually begins projecting material over his body, as the particles of light coming from the closet begin transferring the necessary material to complete the requested build. Fabrics appear over his body, with more forming beside each other as the clothing is built onto him. Green and white polyester-like material appear over his torso and arm. With more of the material appearing, what appears to be a jacket similar to the one in the holographic menu is formed, as the collar is built around his neck and the flaps are built by his waist.

The light stops projecting, revealing Rohan in the green jacket with white trims, as the build has been completed.

His eyes widen as he realizes that he was completely tripping over his schedule, for he was putting his jacket over his pajamas without having had cleaned himself to be presentable.

Rohan hastily slips out of the jacket, cursing himself out internally as it seemed he had lost all ability to think, and he throws the jacket onto the bed rather than putting it back inside the closet.

He then turns back to the closet box, and waves to it in a circular motion before putting up one finger.

A green light flashes, and a hologram projects straight forwards, showing a number '1' right in front of the box as though to indicate what the closet had guessed to be what was asked for.

Rohan nods his head once he sees the one, and watches the hologram close off, indicating that the process had begun.

Rohan sighs to himself before looking around to make sure the windows weren't open, and they weren't, as it seemed there were no windows at all in the house. He then pulls his shirt off his body, readying to head to the shower and get prepared for the day.

A few moments later, the bedroom was dark, and the door was shut without any presence of habitation. The air was cool as a light blinked from the closet machine, indicating that it is fully prepared to begin the build whenever the user would be ready.

It didn't take too long for the closet to prepare the clothing, especially since it already usually does it automatically, however it seems Rohan is especially hasty today.

The door dissolves open as Rohan steps out into the once dark bedroom, which now lights up from the yellow glow emanating from the room's lights.

After the nice and cold shower, albeit a quick one, Rohan seems to have calmed down from the chaotic start of the day. He stands nude, for he has just left the shower, and is now on his way to properly clothe himself.

Rohan first turns his head towards the closet machine, knowing that it is ready to deliver him his clothing, and now that he's properly washed, he can do so properly.

Although, as he approaches the machine, his mind begins to wander, and he turns his head to the left wall. He stops a few feet from the closet, staring at the wall, which initially seems bland, as there isn't anything particularly interesting on it.

However, Rohan pivots towards the wall, and as he looks to the window, he begins approaching it, with the floor beneath him dry as he seems to have properly dried his body in the bathroom before returning to his bedroom.

As Rohan approaches the wall, the part of the wall that he's facing suddenly dematerializes, similar to his door, as the wall bursts into a nanite cloud, however the opening is more appropriately the size of a window than a door, for that is exactly what it is. The nanite cloud begins vanishing to clear the window, which is a couple feet in width, and nearly five feet in height.

As the nanite cloud disappears, a square opening a couple feet in length is revealed. From that opening, a bright cyan light suddenly projects into the room, glowing up his face. The window fully opens, as the powerful light enters the room, striking against his body, although he still walks forward against the light, peering forward as he hikes against the flood.

Rohan's blue eyes illuminate for a moment as the cyan light envelops him, and his eyes contract to help him peer more clearly, staring up the window and out into the world he'd soon be exploring deeper.

His expression is calm as his eyes are wide, as in that moment, he relieves himself of the turbulent stresses, allowing himself to be at peace for just one moment before having to return to the chaos.

On the other side of the window, out of the house, Rohan stares at the dark blue sky overhead, as it seems that only dawn has begun, for it is still well early in the morning. The night is only now passing, for the night sky is still in transition, being affected by the source of light beaming down on the Earth.

Off in the horizon of the dark blue sky, a bright circle composed of glistening cyan light seems to rise, with great streaks of the same cyan light coming off it and expanding over the skies. In fact, the intense glow makes it nearly impossible to identify the shape, as its light is what sets the night into day, for the light is what brings life to the Earth just as it does to any other.

It is that light that is of the system's home star, however it is no regular sun, for it is a sun carrying the strength of a hundred yellow dwarf stars, fueled with such immense greatness that it is instead known as the 'supersun.' Its light is cyan rather than yellow, and yet even then it brings a great warm energy to the lands below, providing flourishing life to the worlds that orbit around it.

As Rohan stares up at the great cyan supersun, its energy charges him too, as its great lumination imbues his mind with the strength needed for the day. While Rohan has never been too invested in nature, for he prefers the eye candy that is advanced technological marvels made by man, the one natural construct that could never be overpowered was the supersun, and for that, it was the one exception that fascinated him.

The supersun is a great cosmic mystery and has been for centuries, for its power has never been even closely matched by the most brilliantly engineered generators, as its power hasn't even been truly understood. It is not simply a ball of heat, but rather it contains the alien energy that has led to the birth of impossibility, allowing it to wield such intricate and powerful energy thought impossible before its own birth. But past that, the supersun is a benevolent yet mysterious entity, one that may not be understood entirely, but one that many are grateful for.

Rohan takes a deep breath, for after a few moments of deep contemplation, he finds himself ready to begin the day. He turns away from the window, and steps away, resuming his approach to the closet machine.

Behind him, the window closes once again, allowing privacy in the room. The nanite cloud reappears along the edges of the window frame, thickening as it covers up the opening. The cloud then solidifies, recreating the wall that once hid the window, as in only a second, the window is completely shut, leaving the wall covering it once again with subtlety.

Finally after a much needed shower and a nice few moments of rest in front of the sun, Rohan stands in front of the closet machine, and allows it to begin building the prepared clothing onto him.

The machine beams a light onto him, which covers his nude body except for his head, and then begins materializing the clothing onto him. Blue denim-like fabrics wrap around his legs to give him pants as white cotton-like fabrics spread around his torso and arms to give him a shirt. White socks appear, covering his feet, as his whole attire is already completely on him.

Now fully clothed, Rohan lets out a soft sigh, and walks towards his bed. He then sits down by the edge, feeling refreshed from the shower yet drained from the early awakening.

Rohan says out loud in an exhausted voice, "Open the windows," and leans back, resting after the exhaustive morning.

As he does, parts of the wall around his bedroom begin to seem to vanish, revealing hidden windows around the room, which immediately bring a warm morning light inside, with more of a lively vibrancy than the typical bedroom lights.

There were two windows on opposite sides of the bedroom, causing streaks of cyan light to hit different shelves and parts of the floor from outside, with one streak hitting Rohan's body.

Rohan's hair was fixed into a more professional sleek style, and his body gave off a more appealing smell rather than that of having just woken up.

Rohan puts his arm up to block the light, giving off an annoyed groan from the intense heat hitting him. He stands up from his bed and grabs his jacket, once more throwing it on himself, but now with the proper clothing underneath.

Rohan pushes both of his arms through the sleeves before tightening his jacket. He then presses his hand on his chest, which causes the two ends of the jacket to attract to one another, and zip both ends together.

Satisfied, Rohan looks around his bedroom, making one last check to make sure he had everything he needed. His breath slows down as he calms himself, as it slowly settles in that this was the last time he was looking at his bedroom before leaving for years.

Rohan frowns, and his eyes settle on the pictures on his wall. He walks over to the pictures, and stares at the one with his team all standing around the goalie who held up the cup.

Rohan smiles softly as he remembers the fond memories of his younger years playing in a team, and remembers the specific year where they had won the state championship. The thrill of victory as he had shot the puck into the goal at the very last few seconds, breaking the 19-19 tie.

Back when everything felt so normal and easy, as after the game he would be taken by his father to get dinner, and then taken back home.

Those days were good, but those days are past.

Rohan turns away from the picture, and he looks around his room again. He then walks towards his bed, and more specifically the table beside it, where his Connect was.

The Connect is a small earpiece that looks like an earbud, made with a white shell with intricate blue streaks. It sits on a small stand to make sure it stands above the rest of the table, making it easier to pick it up.

Rohan grabs the earpiece and puts it in his ear before giving it a tap to make sure it was secure. He feels the earpiece lock into place, and the weight of the bud vanish as if he didn't have them at all.

He then looks ahead of himself, deciding to make a quick scan of the tech news he usually entertains himself with, as it wouldn't take too long and it was just his standard morning routine.

A beam of light shines out of the front of the earpiece, projecting a holographic screen in front of Rohan, which displays an interface containing a list of news articles with images displaying silver rings with what even appears to be artificial arms made of metal. The holograms are all colorized with perfectly crisp resolution, as it seems the lack of a solid surface doesn't hinder the quality of the screens at all.

As he reads through the different posts, he hears Dexter's voice scream from downstairs, "ROHAN, GET YOUR CRUSTY ASS DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!"

Rohan's eyes shoot wide open, realizing that he is still in a time crunch. His mouth hangs open as the Connect's projector stops, causing the holographic screen in front of him to vanish.

He turns to face the door, and begins running towards it while yelling back, "COMING!!!"

The door dematerializes open again to allow Rohan to leave the bedroom, with the bathrobe still on the floor, left behind from the rushing to the next moment.

The door materializes shut after Rohan leaves, and the windows shut once more, evident by the same sound as when the covers dematerialized, and from the sudden vanishing of the blue sunlight.

The lights then turn off, evident by the removal of the remaining light, leaving the room in the dark.

The downstairs kitchen seems to be bustling as a middle aged woman runs back and forth, wearing an apron over a dress, panting tiredly as she seems to be working hard.

The kitchen room itself is predominately white in terms of its walls, ceiling, and floor, with the room seeming to have a curved interior that opens up from the doorway. Along the walls and in the center are several tables and counters, which are also curved, and on top of the counters is litter, with boxes and containers housing food, along with circular silver plates and cups. A silver tall box with curved edges which seems to resemble a fridge stands alongside the wall as well, however there doesn't seem to be a noticeable door, as instead it appears as a single unit.

Next to the fridge is what seems to be a shorter yet longer box resembling an oven, although rather than having a door, it uses some sort of holographic wall that still makes it easy to see the interior while also seeming to have some sort of soft orange energy field to separate the oven from the rest of the kitchen, thus protecting people from accidental and potentially fatal burns.

On top of the oven are also a few silver pots and pans with some bits of food sizzling on top, as it seems the middle aged woman has been cooking.

The woman grabs a plate from the counter and runs back to the stove, and as she does, Rohan enters the kitchen from the entrance from the hallway, now being dressed up with his morning routine done well, even in a rushed manner.

As the woman gets to the stove, she begins placing scrambled eggs on one of the plates, and she does, Rohan approaches her, confused with her hasty movements.

Rohan's eyebrow raises as he questions, "Mom?"

The woman stops, and she turns to Rohan, her eyes wide. She then scolds hastily, "Rohan, where have you been all morning?! Come on, were you playing last night or something? My boy is going to be late on his first day...oh my god."

She then finishes placing the scrambled eggs on the plate and hands it to Rohan, forcefully pushing it into his hands.

Rohan takes the plate while trying to process the chaos, and he looks back at his mother, his eyes still wide as he was practically lost.

He opens his mouth to rebuke, able to get the words: "Wait, but I'm not hun-," only to be quickly interrupted by his mother, who scolds "Eat!"

Rohan hastily nods his head, realizing there was no escape, and his mother then pushes him forwards to head to the dining room. The mother shakes her head, and she says to herself: "These kids never grow up-! You're going to starve yourself to death out there, I swear, I swear!"

Rohan slows himself down from the push, and he then begins walking on his own to the end of the kitchen, which connects seamlessly to a dining room. He steps inside the room, which has a grayer and larger body than the kitchen, with more of a rectangular interior versus the kitchen being more square. In the center of the room is a large oval white table top floating several feet above the ground, and surrounding it are six floating chairs, which seem to lack any sort of physical legs yet still seem to stand with stability, only requiring a slim frame and a soft white cushion over it. On one of those chairs sits Dexter, who is munching on what looks much like a croissant.

Rohan looks around the dining room, and then back down at the eggs on his plate with disappointment, as he would much rather check on his luggage rather than sit and eat when he could easily just consume the food on the ride, thus not wasting his precious and limited time.

As Rohan mourns the death of his time with a sigh, he hears Dexter's voice call to him, "Hey, I thought I called you to come down like half an hour ago. Did you fall asleep again?"

Rohan picks his head back up to see Dexter. He groans, and walks towards the chair opposite from him, taking the invite that doubled as an insult.

As he sits down, he answers "I showered, can't be going on my first day smelling like you."

He smirks from the little burn he dealt, and begins playing with the eggs with his utensil, which had three rods to act as a fork.

He finally decides to plunge the fork into the eggs, and lifts it up to his touch, taking a bite and beginning to eat his breakfast.

Dexter shakes his head, and he keeps eating his food.

The two eat their own food silently, both knowing that they had to be ready in time, as both of them had a big day and couldn't mess it up.

After a few moments of silent eating, Dexter lowers the near-finished croissant, and he says, "Anyways, you left your bag with all your stuff in the garage. I threw it in the pod since I was doing the same with my own anyway. I don't know when you threw it there, but then again you probably did at three in the morning or something."

As the two speak, the mother suddenly yells from the kitchen, "WHO WAS UP AT THREE?!?!?"

Rohan immediately yells back, "NOBODY!"

He then groans, and turns back to Dexter, his eyes showing nothing but monotone deadness.

Dexter gives an awkward smile, realizing he was speaking a bit loudly, and he continues eating his croissant in silence, deciding it was best to keep it that way.

After a few minutes of silent eating, Rohan finally takes the last bite of his eggs, and stands up from his chair. He looks at Dexter, who was just finishing up his last bites, and he nods his head.

Rohan says, "I'm going to put these away and look for dad, I think he's the one taking us."

Dexter takes the final bite, and he lifts his head up to meet Rohan, and replies, "He's probably working, but sure. I'm going to wait by the garage."

Rohan nods his head, and he walks out of the dining room, and straight back into the kitchen. He looks around to see nobody inside, as his mom was probably rushing somewhere else making sure he had enough clothes.

He walks towards one of the counters along the wall, which seems to have a large black plate on the counter, yet it doesn't seem anything like the one he was using to eat, as this is far larger and is completely flat whereas his has a curve along the edges. Nonetheless, he stands in front of it before placing his dish down on it.

After letting it go, he leaves the kitchen, and the platter suddenly seems to phase through the black plate, descending through the plate as though it wasn't solid, and vanishing into the counter below in order to be cleaned by the hidden dishwasher.

Rohan walks down the white hallway of the house, walking past tables along the walls, with some of the floating table tops having holograms of 3D portraits, which show four figures, an older woman and man, with the woman looking similar to that of the mother, and the two other figures being young boys with blue eyes and black hair. The 3D portrait acts similar to a snow globe without the dome, as he's able to stare at each individual from different angles as though they were sculptures, as the portrait manages to capture more than just a single flat image.

Rohan turns to look at the portraits, and he frowns, feeling the weight of this intimidating move, as he realizes how far from home he would truly be. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, knowing that it would only be a few years before he would finally be able to live wherever he wanted.

He turns back to face ahead of himself, and he opens his eyes as he makes his way towards the end of the hallway. As he approaches the end, he faces a door on the left side of the hall. He nods to himself, guessing that if his father was anywhere in the house, it would be this room.

Behind the door is a long yet relatively small dark gray office room, which has shelves lined up along the walls hoisted by the ceiling, and under the shelves are long counters similar to the kitchen, sleek with white tops that reflect the light coming from the ceiling.

The shelves are well packed with items as well, for they are definitely in use, for there are different tablets and boxes on them, neatly organized as though an android had meticulously placed every individual piece to perfectly fit each object, optimized to use as little space as possible.

On the far side of the office, opposite from the door that Rohan entered through, is an actively running Connect by the table, projecting three holographic monitors in front and over a holographic set of a keyboard and mouse.

Behind the monitors is a man who sits on a hovering black chair, staring at the screens in silence, seeming to be focused on his work while ignoring the rest of the world.

The man has short gray hair on the top of his head, and seemed to wear a sort of business suit, showing his formality through a black blazer even while inside his own home.

Rohan notices the man, and he takes a deep breath. He then steps into the office, and he waves his hand, knowing it wouldn't be seen, but his anxious instincts kicked in regardless, as his father conducted himself with more systematic authority than his mother, and Rohan could tell he was interrupting a work session.

However, he needs to get his father's attention, or he could be late for his first day of his new life.

Rohan speaks in a quiet voice, "Hi dad...are you...working?"

The father immediately stops typing on his keyboard, and he lets out a disappointed sigh. He doesn't turn his chair nor his head, as though he couldn't sacrifice giving attention to his son, for that would steal time away from examining his work.

His father responds, "Yes, what is it, Rohan?"

Rohan gulps, and he puts his hands behind his back, as if trying to force greater confidence within himself to withstand the storming winds of his father's aura.

He reminds, "We're ready to go now, Dexter's in the pod I think. I think you're supposed to uh...take us?"

The father stops for a few moments, but he keeps his eyes still on the monitors, rather than turning to face his own son.

He nods his head, and he answers, "Oh, that's today. You're right. I'll be there in five minutes, let me finish this. I think I have a meeting in a bit but I should be able to make it. Start the pod for me, okay?"

Rohan blinks, and he steps back, nodding a few times as he had anticipated the distant attitude, but he didn't expect his own father to seem to forget the day of his college.

Rohan confirms, "Got it, I'll do that."

With that, Rohan turns around, and he walks with haste towards the door, and out, vanishing from the room.

The father sighs once Rohan leaves, and he looks down at the holographic keyboard for a few moments, as if contemplating. He then lifts his head back, and continues typing.

The sunlight from the shining morning bleeds into the garage as the large garage door becomes dematerialized, and a bright cyan hue enters the once dark garage.

Inside the gray garage is a silver vehicle similar to that of a 21st century automobile, however with curved edges providing a sleeker and more elegant design, while also not having visible windows from the outside. The greatest difference of all was a completely different lower half, as there are no wheels of any sort, but instead a flat bottom, allowing the vehicle to sit on the ground.

Dexter enters the garage to approach the vehicle, and he taps on the longer side of the body after having loaded all the luggage in the trunk. On the side that Dexter had tapped, a large hole the size of a car door appears as part of the vehicle's shell seems to dematerialize in front of him, allowing passage into the interior of the pod, which houses a black leather bench which seems capable of holding two people, perhaps three.

The whooshing sound of a door's dematerialization behind Dexter triggers him to turn his head back, to which he sees Rohan enter the garage after having alerted his father of the imminent travel.

Rohan waves his hand with a soft smile, and he asks "Is everything ready?"

Dexter, who was far more sociable and had a far more inviting aura than their father, nods his head with a smile, and answers "Yeah, it's all here. Is dad coming?"

Rohan sighs, and he nods his head reluctantly, for it was hard to get a clear answer when confronting his father. He responds the best he could, "He said he'll come soon, he wants us to start up the pod. He's working right now so...you know how he is."

Dexter adopts a flat expression, for he understands exactly the situation, and could only hope they would arrive on time. He nods his head to show comprehension, and then turns around to face the pod.

He lets out a soft sigh, and responds, "Okay, you go do that. I'm going to run a last minute check since I guess we can."

Rohan nods his head, and he turns to the front of the wheelless vehicle, which seems to be known as a 'pod'. He walks towards it as Dexter makes his way to the back to conduct his final evaluation. Rohan taps the side of the pod, however now closer to the front, causing another hole to open via dematerialization, this time revealing the front of the interior, which houses an individual driver's seat, and a front passenger seat beside it, both made of the same black leathery material, and separated by a small table of sorts.

Rohan steps through the hole towards the driver's seat to get better accessibility of the vehicle, and he looks at a matte black strip, which is along the interior walls in front of the driver's seat specifically. He then taps on it, causing a series of holograms to be projected from the strip, as the simple tap was enough to activate the pod's dashboard, awakening the vehicle.

The holographic dashboard reveals digital gauges, menus, and a set of other useful gadgets to the driver with the most important possibly being the music app, which immediately begins blasting heavy music with deafening drums and brass.

Rohan's eyes immediately light up from the blaring noise, to which he immediately goes for the holographic pause button to save himself as soon as possible.

The music luckily stops, and Rohan peeks his head out of the car to turn to Dexter, who had peeked his head to the side after anticipating the stare, to which he gives a helpless smile.

Dexter shrugs his shoulders, and he asks "What? I was practicing my driving and I guess I forgot to turn it off. It happens."

Rohan sighs, and he shakes his head, condemning "Dad would kill you if he turned this on first."

Dexter chuckles, and he goes back behind the pod to continue the evaluation, responding over a distance, "He'd like it."

Rohan shakes his head, and he returns back to the interior of the pod. He then checks the dashboard to confirm that the pod was all ready to go, and he looks down to a circular green button right in front of the seat. He taps on it, and waits.

Dexter nods to himself as he reviews the bags in the trunk, and finally concludes that everything was ready. He smiles and steps back, ready to close the trunk, only for the pod to let out a roaring hum directed straight at him, causing him to nearly jump as the engine kicks up.

Dexter's eyes shoot wide open, and he groans, having allowed himself to enter such deep concentration in his task that even the slightest interruption felt like an explosion.

He shakes his head and taps on the pod, causing the trunk door to materialize and cover itself up, closing the trunk up and allowing him to return to the passenger area of the vehicle.

Rohan gets out of the driver's seat after starting the pod, and he takes a deep breath, knowing now all there was left to do was wait. He keeps a soft smile, and surveys the rest of the garage for the few moments he had left before his father would inevitably come out of the door to drive the two off. On the other side of the garage seems to be a similar vehicle, however it's much larger overall, and has a metallic red shell rather than a silver one. It also doesn't seem as sleek, seemingly older, but it too has the flat wheelless design much like the other pod.

Other than that, there doesn't seem to be too much in the garage, however in front of the two pods seems to be an array of shelves and racks against the wall, and on the shelves are several boxes of different sizes.

As Rohan surveys the garage, his smile fades, as he can't help but feel that he is losing a part of his life now, knowing he may never see this garage again. This would be the final morning he'd spend in it, and even then he's still unsure if that exact fact has truly hit him yet, or it would later. For he spent years in this home, and has used this garage many times. But today would be the last, as today would mark the end of his old life.

From university came a job near instantly, and the jobs he was most likely to get into would supply him with a living space, meaning he wouldn't really transition back into his old home again.

Rohan sighs as he looks at the other pod in the garage, and then the scooters along the wall. He stares with eyes of sentiment, watching his life flash in front of his eyes as if it was about to end.

Dexter notices Rohan's change of mood, and he approaches his brother, putting his hand on Rohan's shoulder. Dexter turns to Rohan, and he says, "Hey, you okay?"

Rohan continues to examine the garage, and he responds, "Remember that time when we took those scooters all the way to Helioville just to buy that GS8 so Dad wouldn't see it in our shopping history?"

Dexter smiles softly, and he nods his head with similar sentiment, as the memory came before him.

He answers, "I do. It's not like doing that changed anything when we were plugging it into the family television station anyways for Mom to notice. Oh they were not happy at all about that...I can't forget that day."

Rohan chuckles as he remembers the fury of rage his Dad exhibited after the revelation, and he says "Me neither. We saved credits for months for that thing, imagine if they had taken it away. I mean then again we nearly weren't even able to get it because they said we were too young, it was lucky for us that the cashier was new and clearly only stood there to get paid."

Dexter keeps his sentimental smile as he surveys the garage as well, and he responds, "Yeah...fun times...I miss the bootup screen. It was just so...soothing."

Rohan nods his head, but before he could answer, he hears the door dematerialize with a whooshing wind, signifying that it is opening. Both him and Dexter turn to face the door, where they both see his father standing in the doorway, wearing his black suit, looking down at them.

Rohan sighs, as if it was time to say goodbye, and move on to the next life.

The two brothers step through the opening towards the back of the pod while the father steps through the opening at the front, as they all board the vehicle in silence. The pod doors then materialize with the two passengers and the driver inside as the engine continues to hum softly. The pod then ascends off of the ground, seeming to be hovering on its own a couple feet off the garage floor, with the air underneath seeming to undergo a blue wavy effect from the immense energy fueling the vehicle.

The pod then begins moving, as it begins to drive backwards and out of the garage, moving freely in the air as it moves away from the garage.

The pod gives off a soft humming sound as it leaves the familiarity of the home, and crawls into the alien light.
