A little girl was curled on the ground, wrapped in a white fur coat. Her face was abnormally pale and her chest was heaving rapidly.
Seeing her like that, an inexplicable pain rose in Kyra's heart. She immediately looked around, "Little one, where are you parents? They must have accompanied you here, right…?"
As she spoke, Kyra moved to look around. But the moment she moved, she felt a soft grip on her hand.
When Kyra turned, tiny fingers were curled around her little finger.
The little girl slowly opened her eyes. Her damp lashes trembled as a pair of ice blue eyes met with Kyra's dark ones.
Kyra's heart thumped.
The little girl opened her mouth to speak but suddenly, her chest heaved even more violently as she struggled to breath.
Kyra immediately removed her jacket and wrapped the little girl in it. Then, she helped the girl into a sitting position, placing her head on her chest, "Lean back on me. You will feel better like this."
The little doll's head lolled back and forth before settling on a comfortable position.
Meanwhile, Kyra was not idle. Her eyes scanned the place and she immediately spotted a bunny purse lying a little distance between them.
Kyra rummaged through the purse and something fell into her hands. Looking at the inhaler in her hand, she frowned. True enough…
Kyra brought the inhaler closer to the little girl, "Breathe deeply… Yes, yes, just like that…" She gently rubbed her chest, letting the girl inhale and exhale until her breathing was more regular.
Kyra's heart slowly relaxed.
At this moment, there were sounds of approaching footsteps, followed by a concerned voice.
''Young Miss…Young Miss, please stop hiding…"
The person probably did a few rounds before he finally found them, "Young Miss…!" The man was dressed in an all black outfit, looking like a bodyguard, "What did you do to the young miss?" He looked at Kyra with eyes burning with animosity.
"She was having an asthma attack. I have stabilized her condition for now, but you should rush her to the hospital first!" Kyra packed the girl's bag.
The bodyguard was stunned. Just as he bent to pick the little girl up, Kyra spoke up, "Wait!"
Kyra patted the little girl's cheek gently, "Sweetie, open your eyes. Look, do you know this person?"
The little girls' eyelashes trembled as she slowly looked up, "Uncle… bodyguard uncle…" Her soft voice sounded like that of a kitten's, but it was hoarse and weak.
The worried bodyguard immediately carried the little girl, only to freeze mid-air.
The little girl's hand remained firmly wrapped around Kyra's little finger, barely budging from the spot.
Kyra gently removed the small hand from her finger. But in her heart, she felt a dull ache as she did so.
"Young Miss, how could you run away to hide like that… How should I answer the Master…!"
The voice faded into distance as both the people disappeared from her view. Kyra slumped onto the booth, heaving a deep breath before she pushed herself up.
…
City Hospital .
Kyra stood in front of the ICU, her arms crossed in front of her chest.
"Miss, are you not going inside?" The nurse stopped in her tracks.
'The girl had been standing there for 2 hours yet she was not stepping inside to see her brother,' Thinking of that, she couldn't help but look at her curiously.
Kyra looked at the door for a long moment before she peeled her gaze off it, "It's okay. I was here for the deposit. Please take care of him," she bowed.
"Miss, the deposit money is for his daily care. With your brother's condition, surgery is the most important."
Kyra's eyes trembled, "Yes, I am making the arrangements."
After the nurse entered the ICU, Kyra took one deep look in that direction. Just before the door closed, she caught sight of a delicate silhouette on the bed.
Inhaling a deep breath, Kyra walked out of the City Hospital.
The moment she crossed the main road, she saw a movement from the corner of her eyes.
Suddenly, a car zoomed in front of her. It was too late by the time she saw it.
Kyra's heart dropped, and she stopped breathing all of a sudden.
The car was inches away from her. Kyra swung backwards, covering her head with her hands as she squatted on the ground.
'Screech'
'Splash'
After a long minute, the expected pain never came. However, a wet slimy sensation spread across her body.
Kyra slowly removed her hands from her head. Her body was still frozen in shock, but her lips slowly curled down in disgust as she watched the mud dripping off her hands, her hair, her face and her entire body!
The moment she turned, she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.
"Are you fine, Miss?" A very calm and deep voice floated past her ears.
Kyra slowly looked up in a daze. And her eyes widened.
The man in front of her had a gentle smile on his face, his eyes were slightly curved as he smiled.
From where he stood, the sun was shining behind him. From where Kyra looked, a halo seemed to have circled the man.
He was beautiful… Yet, in a masculine way. His messy hair, his white suit….
Kyra blinked. Like an angel.
"You seem to be fine," The man said before walking past her.
'Boom'
Kyra snapped out of her reverie at once. She spotted her reflection in the sleek glass car.
From head to toe, she was covered in mud and filth. And the person responsible for it… did not even apologize to it.
Kyra turned, "Hey, you! Wait!"
Zaiden's footsteps came to a halt. Although he seemed very approachable with that small smile on his handsome face, his eyes narrowed slightly.
He was supposed to meet his daughter at the amusement park but eventually, he had been delayed by something.
And then, he was informed that his daughter was rushed to hospital. Yet, he did not expect himself to be delayed here like this.
He turned around, his gaze landing on the woman who was covered in mud.
Kyra took a step towards him.
Zaiden immediately took a small step back, "Miss, we can talk from a distance."
Kyra's jaws dropped as she looked at the man in disbelief, "You are disgusted now? Who do you think is the one who caused this?" She pointed at herself but while speaking, she nearly tasted some mud in her mouth.
Kyra's nose scrunched.
At some point, rain had stopped, hence she had no hope of getting a free public shower as well.
Frustrated, Kyra raised her hand and rubbed the mud off her lips before looking at the man again.
