Chapter 9 - THE CIVIL WEDDING

LARA'S POV:

I was startled by the light pats on my shoulder. I could still feel that someone caressing my face. When I opened my eyes—I saw the smiling face of elder Rosita.

Oh my! I fell asleep, I suddenly jumped up when I remembered that today was my wedding with that gigantic creature.

I looked at the clock and my eyes widened when I saw that it was already one o'clock in the afternoon.

"I'm so sorry elder Rosita, I slept well. Where is that giant? Ah—I mean Dylan?" Elder Rosita just smiled at me.

"He's just downstairs waiting for you my dear. He ordered me to wake you up—are you not hungry, my dearest Lara? You haven't eaten yet," she told me. I felt so relieved for this old woman.

I really felt like I had known her for a long time. And because I slept so well earlier I forgot to eat.

"Eat first my dear Lara, then get ready. The things you will use later for your wedding are now ready." Elder Rosita told me.

When I looked on the other side of the bed—I saw what I was going to wear already prepared. I was suddenly amazed by what I saw. Wow. I really liked that dress.

A plain white off shoulder dress, with matching bowknots on the back. I was amazed by that dress the first time I saw it. It seemed to fit my body perfectly.

It was very simple but elegant. This includes white high heeled sandals that sparkled of glittered silver color on its straps. I happily took the sandals and put it on and it fit my feet perfectly.

"Elder Rosita, where did these come from?" I asked the old woman with a smile.

"From Señorito Dylan—he bought them and brought them here earlier by his secretary."

"Oh, wow.. Your boss is so sweet. He even knows my size very well." I said happily . Who wouldn't be happy—even if that Dylan is so resentful, he still has time to figure out what I'm going to wear.

Elder Rosita and I immediately went downstairs so I could eat first.

I quickly made my food and then went back to my room to take a shower. Since I only had a little time left—I also took a quick shower. After taking a shower, I heard a soft knock on the door.

"Come in, it's open." I said and the door opened.

I was a little surprised when a beautiful woman entered the room, carrying a small luggage bag and smiling at me.

"What do they need?" I asked her.

"I'm a make-up artist ma'am . You need a makeover, I'll fix you up," she told me.

"Hah? Why do you need to fix me up, it's just a simple wedding?" I asked confused.

"Oh ma'am, Mr. Cervantes sent me here. Even though it's just a simple wedding, I still have to fix you up— that's what Sir ordered," I sneered, which made the make-up artists laughed.

"Is that so? So he sent you, am I ugly miss? Don't be shy, tell me the truth." I asked jokingly, she was still laughing at me.

"Oh, you're so beautiful ma'am—even if you don't do your makeup, you're still beautiful. That's how natural your beauty is." she replied with a smile.

"Oh, you're kidding me, go ahead and do the makeup. I don't want a heavy makeup, just a light." I told her because I'm not used putting any beauty products on my face.

She only put on a light makeup on me. My long hair was tied up and my back was clearly visible. I even looked in the mirror to see reflection.

I smiled as I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked beautiful. The clothes I was wearing suited me perfectly.

"Wow.. Is that you Lara?" it was shocking—I almost didn't recognize myself.

"Ma'am, you're beautiful. You're prettier than that Ashley." I was taken aback by what she said, did I hear correctly— she was comparing me to Dylan's girlfriend Ashley?

"Ahm, sorry ma'am. Please forgive me, I'm sorry for what I said," she apologized to me.

"That's nothing. Okay then, let's go down," I said. I went down the stairs followed by the make-up artists.

I felt like a princess as I walked down the stairs and my prince was waiting for me. Dylan and Lolo were sitting on the couch and with them was a woman holding a folders.

This must be what elder Rosita was referring to earlier, his secretary. Hmmm. I stared at her. Infairness, she's beautiful.

I even saw Dylan swallow at the same time when he saw me.

"Eres hermosa Lara. Isn't it Dylan?" Lolo smiled at me with a compliment.

Dylan cleared his throat, he smiled bitterly. I could see the strong objection to this wedding on his face—but I couldn't back down anymore. I had signed the agreement between me and Lolo and I had one word.

"Lord, guide me in what I should do. I don't know what kind of life awaits me with Dylan. I entrust everything to you." I prayed earnestly.

We got into the car, noting that Grandpa and Dylan were in the same car. While I was in another car with Dylan's secretary.

I couldn't help but feel nervous when the car stopped—we were already at the hall of justice.

Miss Rose was helping me get out holding my hand. She must have noticed my trembling and squeezed my hand.

"Ma'am, just relax," she told me. I took a deep breath and look at her. Miss Rose's aura was so nice and it made me feel relieved.

We kept going inside, I didn't let go of Miss Rose's hand until we entered a room that I thought was an office.

That was written outside the door—Fiscal Rolando G. Reyes and we went inside. Grandpa and Dylan were sitting waiting for us along with the Fiscal.

I glanced at Dylan. He looked handsome in his three-piece swallowtailed black and white tuxedo. I couldn't look at him straight there was so much disgust on his face.

"Lara, he's Fiscal Rolando Reyes, who will solemnize your marriage." Grandpa told me. I smiled shyly and bowed slightly in respect.

"Our bride is beautiful amigo," he smiled at Grandpa.

"You said it amigo," Grandpa said with a laugh.

"Ok, so shall we start?" the prosecutor asked us. Dylan and I nodded in response.

And the Civil Wedding Ceremony starts.

"You, Lara Jeanne Forteza, do you take Dylan Dale Cervantes as your partner and companion for life?" my tongue seemed to retract—no words came out of my mouth.

Until Miss Rose squeezed my hand. I nodded to her before I could speak.

"Yes," I replied nervously.

"You Dylan Dale Cervantes, do you accept Lara Jeanne Forteza as your life partner and companion for life?" the prosecutor asked Dylan again. I was really shaking at that time. I was feeling very nervous and anxious.

Dylan still didn't answer for a while. I heard his sigh. Grandpa turned to him,

and he stared at him closely.

"Ahmm.. Yes," his lifeless answer. I breathed a sigh of relief because he finally answered.

"By the power given to me by law, I now pronounce you as a couple—Dylan you may now kiss your wife," My eyes widened, I hadn't prepared for this. I forgot that the groom would kiss the bride after the wedding ceremony. Why was there a kiss in front of everyone?

I was stunned. I didn't know what to do, until Dylan slowly touched my face.

Even though I was nervous, I just let it go. I closed my eyes when I felt his lips touch mine. It was only a smack but it felt different. It was like thousands of electricity flowed through my entire body.

For the second time Dylan kissed me. His lips were so soft and his breath was so fragrant.

"Gosh," my mind screamed. What is this, am I going crazy? It's just a kiss but it's causing me something different?

"Lara, don't give this kiss a meaning. He doesn't love you— don't assume," my mind screamed. I also noticed how Dylan looked away from me.

"Congratulations to both of you, grandchildren," Grandpa greeted us with a smile.

I gave Grandpa a tight hug while my shoulders are shaking. I couldn't help but cry—this wasn't the wedding I had dreamed of.

I wish my parents were with me—I had Mom and Dad to walk me down the aisle and hold my hands and held it with the man I love.

It hurts to think about my fate in this world. Sometimes I wonder, why was I born if my parents were just going to leave me. Why did they bring me to life if they were just going to give me away?

"Lara, that's enough. It's your wedding day and you're crying—you should be happy my dear," as Grandpa wiped my tears with his handkerchief.

"I'm sorry Grandpa, if I got emotional. I was just thinking— I wish my parents were with me." I said tearfully.

"Sshh.. Enough, that's going to make you ugly—do you want that hmm?" Grandpa said to me laughing.

I noticed Grandpa wiping away his tears—and Miss Rose was also crying because of me. And Dylan was just standing there with his back to us staring into space.

"Congratulations Miss Lara," Miss Rose said to me in tears. I also gave her a hug and we both laughed because of my madness.

From Justice Hall, we went straight to a Hotel where Grandpa made a reservation at a fine dine in restaurant.

The happiness on Grandpa's face while we were eating was indescribable. I also told Miss Rose to find a boyfriend for she was so beautiful.

The three of us ,Grandpa and Miss Rose were enjoying ourselves but Dylan was just eating seriously.

Suddenly, a beautiful woman approached us—her eyebrows were raised while looking at me. I noticed her sophistication, just by the way she was dressed—she was not just any woman.

"I wasn't even notified, that my boyfriend is getting married! To whom— to this little cheap girl?" I swallowed hard at what she said.

So she's Ashley— Dylan's true love?

Just by the looks of it, I have nothing to say. I wasn't even within his little finger. When suddenly Lolo and Dylan stood up to stop her.

"Stupid woman! You have no respect!" Lolo said angrily. Dylan pulled her over to talk to her. It was a good thing that this place was reserved just for us. I was speechless, even Miss Rose was stunned by me. I was so embarrassed by what she said—not a single word came out of my mouth.

I understand if he gets mad at me. But there's nothing I can do now. I wanted it too so—I should just endure it.

Was my decision to marry Dylan wrong? I just wanted to help—was that wrong?
