Chapter 8 - THE ARROGANCE

LARA'S POV :

I made an effort to cook them something to eat—but this Dylan couldn't even appreciate my cooking.

It's good that Grandpa liked the food. But this guy even managed to criticize my cooking.

Who wouldn't be annoyed—he pretended not to like it but I could see how he was devouring my cooking.

He really enjoyed it—I knew from the first bite and I could see that he liked the food.

"Urrgggg!" I was so annoyed. I only held back because we were facing Grandpa.

"Thank you my dear Lara— what you've cooked was delicious. But next time, don't bother yourself, okay? You don't have to bother cooking because we have a cook here." Grandpa told me.

"That's okay Grandpa— so I can be busy." As I replied to him.

"Oh Lara, that's what I want from you. You're so sweet—thank you Lara. Okay then get some rest and later at three in the afternoon we'll go to Judge Reyes for your wedding with Dylan.

Shocked! I forgot about the wedding. How could it be that because I was so annoyed with Dylan, I almost forgot about our wedding.

After Grandpa finished eating, he told me to go first. It was exactly nine in the morning when I thought about going to the pool area.

The weather was so good and it must be fun to paddle in the pool— I immediately walked when I thought about changing my clothes first.

I was wearing a dress and it wasn't suitable for swimming. I went up to the room to change and I was so lucky because that gigantic creature wasn't there.

I looked for something to wear—when I remembered the one Daisy gave me the other time she invited me to swim with the rest of our classmates.

A high waisted two piece blue floral swimsuit—that's what I was wearing and I put a see through dress on top.

I ran down the stairs when I met Dylan again, frowning.

I walked in front of him with my head held high. His eyebrows met again as he stared at me. I was about to turn away when he suddenly grabbed my arm.

"Where do you think you're going?" he asked me but I didn't answer. I moved his hand away from my arm—and was about to leave when he suddenly pulled me again.

"Hey, hey, hey! I'm talking to you!" he shouted at me again.

I straightened up in front of him and placed both my hands on my waist and looked at him with my eyebrows raised.

"Can't you see? You're not even blind enough to not see what I'm wearing, are you?" I said firmly.

I'm not going to let this giant defeat me. He doesn't control my life. It's my own so I'll do what I want.

"No! You're not allowed to swim wearing that piece of clothes . You're just going to give the men here a motive to peek at you. Change it—it's not appropriate for you to wear that because you're not even sexy!" my eyes suddenly narrowed.

Was this guy really not going to stop me? I just wanted to relax and swim—isn't that allowed?

"Motive? Do you hear what you're saying Dylan? And who would dare to peek at me— your drivers? The guards outside or your bodyguards? Or maybe there's someone else there?" I deliberately raised my voice in my last words while looking at him.

"Huh! Are you referring to me? Stop dreaming about Lara, wake up! Your not my type anyway. What do you think you are— sexy? Oh come on Lara, change it because it doesn't suit you. Believe me, I'm the one telling you now. Hahah.. Are you going to park your ping pong ball?" He laughed at me insultingly.

"You're always ruining my day—you man!" I said annoyed.

I was about to speak when suddenly two men arrived. My gosh, they're so handsome. Jeez.. Who are they? I asked myself. When they noticed Dylan, they immediately came over to us.

"Hey man? What's up? Oh, there's a beautiful lady?" I heard one of them say.

"Wow?" the other one whistled while looking at me. He smiled at me and extended his hand to me.

I hesitated to accept his hand but they might think I was rude.

"I'm Lucas, may I know your name miss?" He bowed his head. He tooked my hand and kissed it.

"Lara Jeanne Forteza." I hesitantly replied with a smile.

I noticed Dylan who was silent but his eyebrows met as he stared at me. He looked like a fierce lion.

"Oh, what a nice name. Can I call you LJ for short? By the way I'm Ice, Dylan's cousin," the other introduced himself.

"Hey that's enough. Why are you here? Didn't I call you Ice earlier?" he said to the other.

"Yeah, but I'm worried that you might be sick so you didn't come to the office. Won't you at least introduce us to this beautiful young lady?" Ice winked at me.

I was already feeling a little out of place with them. I'm not used to mingling with men. But I also didn't want to be rude in their eyes.

"Ah, it's just Lara. You asked it already," he replied rudely to the two.

"Why are you so grumpy, bro? We just want to get to know her better." Lucas laughed.

"Uhmm.. Excuse me for a while Lucas and Ice. Nice meeting you guys, I have to go." I smiled at them when I heard Lucas speak.

"Can I join you?" he asked me, but I didn't look at them anymore and went straight to the pool area.

When I reached the pool side—I took off my top dress and went into the water.

The water felt so good. I swam here—swimmed there. I stayed in the pool for a few more minutes when I saw Sabel coming holding a tray of foods.

"Señorita, here's your snack." she called to me with a smile.

"Okay Sabel—thank you. But you don't have to do this," I got out of the pool and sat on the edge.

"Señorito Dylan ordered me to bring you a snack here senorita." Sabel told me— I choked up because of what I heard. Seriously— Dylan would send food for me? Huh, what did that giant eat? I was completely surprised.

"Sabel, do you want to swim? Come join me," I even offered her.

"Ah-eh, that's not possible señorita. We're not allowed there," Sabel told me. When suddenly someone spoke from behind Sabel, Lucas and Ice came up to us with a smile.

"Aren't you going to invite us? We want to swim too," Lucas told me.

Ice nudged him. I couldn't say anything. Oh, how is this? I have no way out. What am I going to do? How can I say no to these Adonis?

When Dylan suddenly arrived. Thank you Lord, that's all I can say thank you for coming.

"Get up Lara! Grandpa wants to talk to you, faster! He's waiting for you at the library," he told me. Thank you— I can breathe a sigh of relief now, I don't have to entertain these handsome creatures.

At least this Dylan did something nice for me today. I immediately stood up to get my see through dress, when Lucas suddenly took it.

"Let me," he said to me, I couldn't do anything when he lifted my dress to put it on me. Dylan was silently watching us, but I could feel his painful gaze on me.

Why doesn't this matter to him? Why can't he even introduce me as his future wife?

Why does he let his friends stick close to me? Hayssttt.. Why am I thinking like this? He doesn't even care about me.

My heart felt like it was pinching at the thought that he didn't even care about me.

I was about to leave when he suddenly chased after me, he simply grabbed my arm.

"We have an agreement that you are not allowed to talk to men, right? But what are you doing? You're flirting with them!" he whispered to me simply, but I could feel the disgust in his words.

"You're talking hurtfully. You really think I'm flirting? Wa-why don't you tell them who I am in your life Dylan so they'll stop? Excuse me," I was hurt by his words and walked away from them.

I held myself back from crying in front of them. I wanted to show him how brave I was. But how far can I go? Was my decision to marry him wrong? What should I do? He's already treating me like this—what if we get married?

I'm a brave woman, I don't give up on any fight— but everything has its limits, I also have weaknesses.

I entered the room. I went straight to the bathroom to take a shower. After taking a shower and drying my hair, I immediately lay down on the sofa.

I was on my back, wiping my cheeks because of the tears that spontaneously flowed from my eyes.

When I suddenly felt the door open, I stopped myself from moving and crying. I pretended to be asleep, when I felt him stop next to me.

I didn't know what he was doing, when I suddenly felt myself lifting in the air.

He picked me up and carried me to the soft bed. I don't know, but I really feel different every time our skin touches.

I felt the warmth of his body. After he arranged me on the bed he took a comforter and wrapped it around me.

It was as if my heart celebrated because of what he did, this Dylan who I thought was only known for being stubborn also has goodness in his heart. That's all I can say about what he did.

Why do I feel this way? Even though he's always rude to me—even though he talks to me hurtfully—I can't help but be angry with him?

I've had a secret crush on him for a long time—but it can't be because it would only hurt me.

He already has a girlfriend and who am I? A prostitute who will trade her body for money, that's what he thinks of me.

I endured his hurtful words, because for me—there's nothing more painful than not being able to help the orphanage that raised and cared for me.

I am willing to do anything for my beloved home. Even if it means sacrificing my own happiness—I am willing to sacrifice so my siblings in the orphanage don't lose their homes.
