While checking out the Beast weapons, LongFei saw an armor set.
It featured a delicate and sophisticated design, and its surface was gleaming with a reddish-brown sheen. He almost fell in love with it.
When he checked the beast materials used to craft it, LongFei's mouth twitched in fear.
"Crafted from the exoskeleton of a Swiftfeet Cockroach, an eight-feet-tall cockroach?"
"Imagine fighting a cockroach eight feet tall, how many cockroaches have I used my leg on?"
LongFei knew it was the same species, but monstrous enough to make humans fall to the bottom of the food chain in God's Horizon. This thought made his face twist in fear.
When humans first ventured inside, they talked about how they met horrifying forms of normal creatures.
They even speculated if this place was the mutation handiwork of the Evil Drallocks.
During the Great Mutation, humans' genes evolved, but all other creatures on the planet developed immunity against it, neither evolving nor mutating.
If it had been one of the two, humanity would have struggled to survive in their own world.
"Toughness 12.0. It is a pity they only give out one weapon, and I'm not focusing on defense. I want to kill the creatures to evolve."
LongFei wanted to read the material details before moving to the next weapon.
"Swiftfeet Cockroach is a cockroach about eight feet tall, very durable and with a flexible fighting style."
"And this creature is strong enough to tank a missile? No wonder the armor has such high ratings."
To be honest, LongFei coveted the exoskeleton armor. The weight of a soldier's normal armor plate was about 20 to 31 pounds.
Even a soldier's helmet weighed about 3.1 pounds, but this exoskeleton armor set was so light that its weight was 0.44 pounds.
"No wonder Beast weapons and Beast Spawns are super costly. The level of technology that could reduce armor weight to 200 pounds isn't small."
Through the wrecked spaceships of the Evil Drallocks, humanity had advanced explosively in the field of science and technology.
Much technology had been built from these advanced ships, including teleportation machines.
Another knowledge gained from it enabled humans to craft weapons from the carcasses of monsters.
Since spawn crystals weren't guaranteed in the creatures of God's Horizon, getting Beast Spawns wasn't certain, so many Explorers relied more on Beast weapons to kill them.
"Whoa! I love this one!"
When LongFei saw a finely crafted bow named Serpent Bow, he immediately felt the need to get it, but then... LongFei's expression crumpled.
"My Base Strength is too low? Goddamn it!"
LongFei had settled his mind on this weapon until he checked the details beneath it.
He had thought about shooting monsters from a distance; in that way, he would avoid direct combat and kill from the shadows.
But when he saw the details of the weapon, he gnashed his teeth furiously.
LongFei saw that it was locked out to him.
In the League of Global Explorers, every Explorer's base attributes seemed to be strictly monitored.
Since they could excel in one attribute over the others, there were certain weapons they could wield and certain ones they couldn't. As for the previous LongFei, the attribute he excelled at was Dexterity.
He had an advantage in using many ranges of weapons, but there seemed to be a determining factor here, which was his Base Strength.
Apparently, his strength wasn't enough to draw the bow, so, out of logic, he wouldn't be able to choose it.
The string of the bow was said to have been crafted from the whiskers of a Nine Star Cat.
"Damn, the whisker of a Beast is stronger than this body?"
LongFei could only imagine how strong the real creature would be.
If its whisker was this strong, perhaps it would only take its sneeze to destroy him.
"It will be useless in my hand. I guess I will check the other weapons."
While checking out the free Beast weapons, among the spears, gauntlets, swords, and armor sets, LongFei opted to choose a pair of daggers.
"If I can't have the bow, then I think a dagger would do. It is very good for sneak attacks and it doesn't require any level of attribute."
With a slightly rueful expression, LongFei ordered the weapon.
From the time displayed, in the next ten minutes, his order would be delivered to his doorstep by the Explorer League courier department.
LongFei took a drink from the fridge and relaxed, waiting for his order.
While he was relaxing, he went online to check the price of the dagger he ordered.
"Five hundred thousand dollars! I never realized it would be this costly. Explorers' gears are so expensive!"
LongFei's eyes widened when he saw the actual price.
Slowly, he started ruminating if he should sell it, especially when his mind wandered to the measly amount in his bank account.
"No, look, it is the lowest grade. If I sell it, I don't think I will see any weapon with a lower price except secondhand." He slowly reconsidered.
While he was relaxing, he heard a notification on his account on the League platform.
The order had been delivered, and there was also a message that popped up on his StarComm. The deliverer had texted him of his arrival.
LongFei went outside quickly out of eagerness.
As he reached outside, he realized the time had gone and it was already late evening.
In the twilight sky, he could see some twinkling stars had started to appear.
"Twinkle Fei is having an after-school lesson today, I guess."
Just alighting from a bike was a man in a distinct helmet and uniform.
LongFei went over to greet him, revealing himself as the client.
"Good evening."
"Mr. LongFei, right? A moment, please."
The man brought out a black carton covered with the same dagger picture on it and gave it to LongFei.
"A pair of Sun Shark Daggers."
LongFei signed a document and collected the package, jogging back inside the apartment to check what he just got.
When he reached his room, he tore open the package and brought out the daggers.
The weapon featured an obsidian alloy, as if forged from a volcano, and a silvery razor edge that looked quite menacing.
LongFei's face wrinkled as he looked at the daggers' sharp edge. Judging from the jagged profile, it was more like teeth.
"Well, you won't harm a thing on God's Horizon if it weren't for this."
With slight appreciation, he held the two daggers in his hands and tried to train.
LongFei slashed around, trying to get used to the weapon.
WHOOSH!
When he thrust the dagger forward and a gust of air blew past, he realized what they meant by evolved genes.
"It seems the body has grown stronger. Right now, at the Awakened Stage, I'm as strong as bodybuilders in my previous world, but it still couldn't compare with some people at the same or higher Stage."
After training for some duration, LongFei fell heavily on the bed.
After some time, a knock at the door woke LongFei up.
He quickly stood and walked to the door. After opening it, it appeared it was Twinkle Fei; she had just returned from school.
"How was school and your lesson?"
LongFei looked at his little sister, who seemed stressed but put on a brave face.
"It was fine. I hope work wasn't too much today."
When Twinkle Fei noticed her brother's restlessness, she was immediately suspicious. However, LongFei was just dying to deliver the good news.
"Brother, did you see that I can manage? There was one textbook they said we should buy in school, that our exam would be set from it, but I managed to pass my exam even without getting it."
"So, don't worry. I know you are thinking too much about the bills."
When LongFei heard this, a strange feeling of sorrow rose up in him, and just like it had come, it quickly dispersed.
Now that he had attained a new status among humans, today was a new beginning for them.
LongFei didn't say anything in reply. It was all more action, less talk for him. He gently took out his Explorer license and showed it to Twinkle Fei.
Every human knew what this card was like, even if they didn't have it themselves. And seeing one realistically like this, Twinkle Fei's breath was briefly taken away; she momentarily forgot to breathe.
Gasping back in surprise, she used her hand to cover her little mouth.
"Big brother, is this yours?! How did you get it?"
"Yes, I have been recruited by the government into the Universal League of Explorers. I'm the owner."
Twinkle Fei jumped towards her brother and gave him a big hug. LongFei smiled contentedly; excitement was bubbling inside him.
In his previous life, even though he was the only child, his parents were scientists who never had time for him.
As a result, he had spent most of his time researching and finding the meaning of life. After getting a clue from plants, his research led to a false breakthrough. And then the breakthrough ended up killing him.
When his little sister released him from the embrace, he said, "We are having a feast tonight." LongFei looked at his sister, briefly forgetting about his trip. Tonight, he would enjoy luxurious delicacies to his heart's content.
