Chapter 24 - Chapter Twenty-Four

"Hello."

His voice put me in a full state of ecstasy. I finally reached a phone later that night. It took hours, possibly half the day for me to get someone to use the phone. I moved so slowly, that's possibly why it took me years. After Jordan forced me to split up with him. I wasn't even sure where I was, I was just positively pretty sure it wasn't D.c.

"Baby." I finally replied.

My speaking was terrible. I didn't realize how bad my voice was, not until I was speaking to Darion. My crying didn't make anything any better though, just made it even harder for me to speak. But I missed him, I missed him too much.

"Rose." His voice was so calm and steady, the usual Darion. "Baby, where are you?"

"I don't know." I replied.

"Listen to me, stay where you are. We shouldn't talk for long, because they can spot you and track you down just like we can. So when we hang up, stay around there but find some cover."

"I'm in love with you baby! I need you to help me!"

"Baby." He called me.

"Yes baby.."

"Happy Birthday."

It was still my birthday, it was nearly over now. Either that, or my sense of time isn't right considering where I've been all day. Either way, this has been one of the worst birthdays of my life. Of all twenty-three, this had to top the list for shittiest of them all.

"Thank you baby." I thanked him, with a smile. I wish he could see I was still trying to be happy.

"I love you." He said sincerely.

"I love you." I replied, my smile grew even larger.

"I got to go."

"Hurry up and get to me baby, I fucking miss you."

"I will, stay safe."

He hung up the phone. My smile didn't stay much longer after he dropped the call. I felt alone again, like I've felt ever since Jordan split up with me. I haven't been myself lately, I'm trapped in this emotional state. It won't let me think straight, smile straight, shit or even walk straight. Everything has been so crooked lately, I'm not the same Rose Castro as I was before I met Darion Waters.

I scanned my area when I first got here, but looked around again to find a spot to hide until Darion got here. I wanted to go beside the store behind me and hope I blend in with the darkness so nobody could see me. Going behind the store would be stupid, because I might miss Darion.

I leaned against the wall and waited patiently. The store was closed, it was locked and darkened inside. The entire block was left vacant. There weren't any cars, people, or any other sign of life on the street. So when a vehicle arrived, it wasn't hard for me to hear it pull up.

For a moment, I didn't approach it. My insecurities weren't allowing me to. I was snatched from a vehicle and thrown into a truck just one day ago, I'll be damn if I was to just get into a car without knowing who it was first. The windows were tented, as Darion usually has them. But it wasn't his usual expensive ass looking car.

Soon, another car pulled up as well. So instantly, my instincts knew something was wrong. I kept my hand on the gun Jordan left me with. I haven't been feeling myself lately, but I have to change that sooner or later. The sooner I become the old Rose, is the better.

I was taught when I was younger to always have my plan plotted before making an action. I haven't been doing that lately, but this time I've already got my entire plan in my head. I've got to use my brain more to become the old me.

I approached the cars, gun on my waist. I didn't pull it out yet, I know how quickly I could move. Meaning, if it comes down to me pulling the gun I can do it swiftly. But I'll have to catch bodies, because when I pull the gun my natural instinct is to just pull the trigger as well.

I waited for someone to come out of the car, instead the passenger side window slowly began to go down. A gun was pointed at me through the window. There were two men in the vehicle, that meant there was two others in that other car for sure. Four against my lone one, should be easy. It could have been worst, four people truthfully ain't shit to me.

"You can make this easy Ms. Castro, get into the vehicle." The man holding the gun pointed at me spoke. "Or we can just kill you at the spot and take your dead body."

These people, are fucking assholes. I took my gun from my waist and pulled the trigger multiple times. Killing both the men in that vehicle. Next, I pulled the trigger to my gun on the men in the other vehicle. As I expected, I easily killed all four.

I opened the driver side door and threw his corpse out of the vehicle. I could hear another car driving nearby, most likely coming my direction. I closed the car door and waited inside the vehicle as I watched the third vehicle pull up. This car, looked like it could definitely be Darion.

I got out the car and walked to him with my gun raised, I was almost absolutely positive it was Darion. He opened his car door, then stepped out. It was Darion. I dropped the gun and ran to him. I jumped into his arms and he hugged me tightly, he lifted me from the ground and kissed my forehead.

I missed being in his arms and feeling secured in his strength. That's why I haven't been the same Rose, I feel like Darion is my superman. I don't have to protect myself anymore, I've got Darion to do it. Jordan was right, Darion changed me.

"How are you beautiful?" He asked softly.

"I'm great handsome." I replied.

"Where's Jordan?"

"He didn't get to you..."

The little happiness I had from seeing Darion turned into dejection. Jordan told me he would contact Darion. Now, my mind was all over the place. I didn't know what to think. I didn't know rather he was safe or not.

"No, I haven't heard anything from him." Darion said. "Get in baby, we'll get him."

He walked me to the passenger side and opened the door for me. He sat me down in the seat after opening the door for me, then closing it after I was seated. We drove for awhile silently.

Darion's phone rang, he answered. The conversation he had went smooth, he was too calm for it to be Jordan. So I ceased all hope of it being Jordan almost immediately. His mood remained calm and contained throughout the phone call conversation, then he hung up.

"Here baby." Darion offered me a cup, something to drink.

I wanted food, not some damn juice. But I took the juice gracefully and drank it. I gave him the cup back and pulled my seat back.

I woke up in a bed. Darion was in the room, so was another person. He was speaking to the person I wasn't familiar with. I allowed them to talk just a little longer, I didn't move or speak to them either.

I was laid down and under covers. I didn't remember closing my eyes to fall asleep. Darion must had carried me peacefully and quietly as he could. I watched them converse, noticing Darion peeked back at me continuously to check on me. Maybe he didn't want me to be awake, now I was curious to why he kept looking back at the bed I was in. I sat up, quickly attracting Darion's attention.

"Hey baby, how did you sleep?" He asked.

"Who's he?" I ignored his question and gave him a question of my own.

"A friend of mine, don't worry baby."

"Well I'm worrying."

He sighed and walked to me in the bed. "The President announced that I was a threat to the country."

He jumped into conclusions, an important conclusion. "Keep speaking..."

"Earlier I announced NTAU was gone and replaced by GTAU, Global Task Assault Unit. He announced that GTAU should be gone, he wants to destroy everything I have. Everything I created."

"Then we fight back, right?"

"Baby, these last couple days have been hard. I don't think we can fight back."

"So what the fuck are we doing Darion?"

"I'm telling you we cannot retaliate with the President."

"That's bullshit, so what the fuck are you going to do?"

"Give the President what he wants."

"And quit? Your going to fucking quit Darion?"

"Rose-"

"Don't fucking Rose me!" I silenced him with my loud angered voice. "We cannot let this fuckery of a President beat us!"

Darion rubbed his temple and sighed. "He's already beat us."

"The fuck, bitch I ain't dead!"

"I talked to Jordan." This time, he silenced me. "A short time ago. He's being held captive in South Sudan by a terrorist group, they sent a message threatening to kill him."

I didn't know what to say. Too many questions were running threw my mind for me to speak. I sat in silence without saying a word, Darion beat me in this argument. The second Jordan's name came up, he defeated me.

"Where did this terrorist group come from?" I asked, a portion of me still didn't want to give up.

"It's the Presidents way to destroy us."

"He has terrorist?"

"It just takes money and power baby."

"How will we get Jordan back?"

"I told you, we quit."

"Then they just hand him back to us?"

"We'll see baby."

"We're getting him back, aren't we?"

"Anything can happen Rose."

"Like what?"

"They may kill him."
