"Wake up." Jordan shook my shoulders, waking me from the dream.
That was the happiest day of my life. We finally won our championship, everyone was there to see it, I made the game winning basket. I wish I was still back on those days. But instead, I'm locked inside some dark ass room.
"Yes, Jordan." I replied, resentment was in my tone. I didn't care though, I was being awakened from my good dream back into this living nightmare.
"How are you?"
"How do I look?"
"Awful."
"No shit."
"We need to get out of here."
"How are we going to do that Jordan?
"Just wait and see."
He stood up onto his feet, his wrist weren't tied together. He grabbed my arms and used a small knife to cut the rope from my wrist. My hands were finally free, but they felt so dead. Felt like I lost circulation in my wrist.
"Thanks." I said with a smile on my face.
He smiled. "That's your birthday present baby girl."
"We'll have to move fast or most likely we'll die."
"I don't mind."
"Okay, whenever they open the door again. I'll use my knife to kill whoever it is. We'll have to just make a run for whatever we come to find."
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I've been giving you a terrible attitude all day, I'm sorry."
He chuckled softly, I don't know why he thought it was funny. I didn't ask though, because I felt it wasn't necessary to. He wiped my tear from my eye.
"Stop crying, we're still here. We could be dead, we need to take advantage of our lives." Jordan said with a smile.
He enjoyed smiling, whenever he needed to cheer someone up he smiled. I remember years ago, he hated his teeth so he never smiled. Back then they couldn't afford braces, he knew his teeth were hideous. Everyone has flaws, so it was understandable. But after he got his braces, he smiled all the time.
"I remember when getting you to smile was like reaching the end of the world." I said, I was smiling too now.
"Things change."
"Nah, your teeth just got straight and you ain't know how to act."
He laughed. "Everyone isn't perfect like you."
"I'm not perfect."
He rolled his eyes. "Your pure perfection."
"Whatever you say."
"Love yourself baby girl, imperfections and perfections."
I nodded. "Okay Jordiee."
For the next few hours, we spoke about the most random things. Anything that popped up to mind, we just spoke it. I mentioned the time he nearly broke his leg trying to dunk when we were playing basketball in the street. Then the time he twisted his ankle playing football with us, also in the street. Jordan's always overly aggressive, like it just kills him to go at least a little easy.
Suddenly, we heard voices from outside our door. Jordan hurried to the other side of the room from me. He sat in the corner and kept his hands behind his back, I forgot we're suppose to be tied up.
They opened the door, one man held the door opened as another walked in. The man who walked in held two lunch trays, one for the both of us. I looked over to Jordan, we met eye contact. We had to use this chance to get out of here.
"Come on and get the food, we need you to eat!" The man said as he put one tray on the ground next to Jordan.
"I'm not hungry." I said to the man.
He chuckled and looked back at his from who was still holding the door open.
"That's the girl." He continued laughing and pointed at me.
He really pointed at me, how childish can he be. I wish I could tear his finger off, but Jordan had the weapon. I looked at Jordan again, I wanted him to stab the man now.
"Your the chick who's going to marry Darion?" The guy holding the door asked. "Your all over the media and we have your ass locked in our basement, classic!"
"I'm on the media?" I questioned.
"Hell yeah, your headlined. Any idiot who's going to marry Darion is headlined, too bad your marriage isn't going to happen." He replied.
"What happened?"
"Darion made a public service announcement, the President is going to make an announcement of his own soon."
"He announced that he was marrying me?"
"Yes, how many times do I have to say it." He shook his head and turned around. "Just shut up and eat!"
He walked to the door, Jordan started to stand on his feet. I shook my head no, and waved for him to sit down. I didn't want to kill those men, especially since they just basically told me Darion was out and well. Jordan sat back down, allowing the men to leave. When they closed the door behind them, he spoke.
"That was our perfect chance." He said.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry, but I didn't want to kill them. We'll have another chance, hopefully." I replied.
"We better have another chance."
"We will, just watch Jordiee."
"Next time, I'm not letting yo ass have any friendly conversations. I'm just going to kill his ass on the spot if you start being all Friendly Joe to him."
The lunch looked worst than prison food. I didn't touch anything on that plate, Jordan didn't either. We were both starving though, we had to be here for at least twenty-four hours without eating. After awhile, we finally heard footsteps come to the door.
We watched as they opened the door. This time, two different men. I nearly cheered aloud, I was joyed to see different men. Because if it were the same men, I'd be devastated to kill them. But these men, they should be easy to take out because I don't have any type of feelings for them.
"I need the your lunch trays." A man said as he approached Jordan.
As the man reached down, Jordan stabbed him in the head. Jordan grabbed the man and turned his body around to use as a shield. The other man at the door raised his gun, Jordan threw his knife for the guy.
He yelled as the knife entered his eye socket. Jordan had gun aim, because he hit the bullseye on his target. But the yell would attract more people, so he quickly yanked the knife from the man's eye and stabbed him in the throat. I gasped as the gory scene ended, after Jordan pulled the knife from the man's throat.
"Damn Jordan.." I said softly.
"Let's go." He picked the man's gun up and tossed it to me. "We might need these too."
He picked up the keys from the pocket of the man's corpse. That was smart, in case we came across a door we needed to open. The only problem would be choosing the right key to open the door.
Jordan pushed the bodies in the room and closed the door behind them. I followed him up the hallway and the exit door. He used the card on the keychain to open the door. Then, we were in hostiles alley.
It was like being in Times Square on New Years Eve, they were everywhere. We walked calmly and normally through the crowd. Jordan took my hand in his and kept me close. We walked faster as we reached the exit door to finally get outside and see daylight.
Jordan pushed open the door and held it open for me. I walked out first and Jordan followed after me. Now, we needed a vehicle to leave whatever facility we're at. Jordan broke into a car and turned it on, I put on my seatbelt in the passenger seat.
"There's a gate ahead, when we reach it we'll speed off right passed it." Jordan said.
"Jordan, we're going to make it out alive right?" I asked.
"You are, that's a fact."
"You are too, right?"
"Yes, we both our."
Jordan basically stomped on the gas pedal. He drove through the lot fast, and ran over the gate. We had a great head start, until they finally had cars behind us.
Then, they began shooting at our car while we drove. Nothing stopped Jordan though, he continued driving despite the bullets being shot at us. I took the gun from his lap, and lifted my upper body out the window. When I was positioned justly, I retaliated by shooting back.
I gave Jordan time to make a few good turns by shooting back at them. Jordan was smiling, he's crazy. He enjoyed moments like this, once he told me that the adrenaline rush brings him to life. Right now, we were being chased by three enemy vehicles. I'm sure his adrenaline rush wasn't letting him down any time soon.
I finally hit my target, shooting the driver of the leading car. The car threw off the others behind them. Jordan pushed my shoulder with hype as I put my upper body back into the car.
"Damn Jordan, you fucking nearly tore my shoulder off." I said, rubbing my shoulder softly. "Strong ass boy."
"We need to split up." His words nearly caused me to punch him in the jaw.
"No, we're not splitting up." I quickly rejected.
"They're going to be on my ass." He replied as he pulled into an alley.
"Jordan, I said no!"
He sighed. "Why are you making this hard?"
"Your trying to split up like a fucking retarded person!"
"We don't have all day," he was becoming irritated with me. "Get out, or I'll put you out."
"Jordan just drive!"
At that moment, Jordan got out the car. He walked around the car to the passenger side, he opened my door. He was really going to attempt to force me out of the car.
He grabbed my arm, I grabbed the gun. He grabbed my other arm as well, pinning my wrist to the seat. I dropped the gun from my hand, I cursed as he yanked me with full strength. I found myself outside the car, he pushed me away. I hit the brick wall hard, then looked back at him to see the gun in my face. My jaw dropped as he held the weapon at my temple.
"Stay here." Jordan said. "When everybody is gone, you need to leave. Get to a phone, call for help."
"I'm not staying." I stood by my word of rejection.
"I love you Rosey."
"Jordiee.." Tears filled my eyes. "I love you too. Where are we going to meet up?"
"We'll both contact Darion, then we'll all see each other again." He kissed my forehead, then put the gun in my hands. "Happy birthday baby girl, I'll see you there."
He rushed back in the car, driving off leaving me behind in the alley. For a moment, I sat on the alley ground and covered my face as I cried. Jordan would hate to see how I was positioned now. My head down, tears in eyes, face covered up. He'd smack me in the back of my neck if he saw me in this position.
But right now I had to get my mind right. I was alone, with people hunting me down like I'm a fucking deer. Jordan decided splitting up with me is a smart thing to do. Darion is safe somewhere, but I'm probably nowhere near him. Right now, I was under too much stress to make any smart move.
"Rose, it's okay." I said to myself in my head. "It's okay."
"Your right." I replied to myself.
"Breathe." I spoke softly inside my own head.
