"Hey, step away from her!" Angela yells at the demonic creature that's sucking the energy away from the poor woman, who seems to be heartbroken about something. Both the demon and the woman turn their heads to Angela. The woman is startled, and the demon looks horrifying because, of course.
The woman who can't see the demon assumes that Angela is talking about her, so she gets up from the ground and makes a run for it.
"Wait! I wasn't talking about you!" Angela tries to tell her, but she's gone. The demon growls at Angela, who is now angry that she has scared his food away.
Angela stands her ground, and all she can do is observe the creature before her.
He's tall, very black and lean, has two large horns, a skeletal face, pitch black eyes, and a large mouth used to suck away the souls of people. His talons are long as hell, and she suspects that that's what he's going to use to end her once and for all. Why on earth is she challenging this monster? She's tiny, he's tall as hell, and he's going to kill her this night.
She's going to die once again, thanks to her stupidity.
The demon points at Angela accusingly. At first, Angela thought that he was pointing at a stain on her dress, but there's no stain because she remembers the dress is brand new.
"Angel." The demon says in a vicious voice.
Angela rolls her eyes. "My name is Angela, not angel, you weird fuck."
The demon roars and charges toward Angel. Angela rolls to the other side of the alleyway, swiftly dodging the monster's attack. She is an athlete, but she didn't know she could do that so quickly. That was close because she was right the entire time; he did want to use his talons to end her.
"You son of a bitch, do not make me ruin this dress, I have to return it!" The demon doesn't care; he still runs after her, he sees her as a threat and plans to end her. Angela stands there and watches the demon run toward her. Angela doesn't move; it doesn't register to her to move out of the way, she feels like fighting him, she doesn't know where this mentality is coming from.
Yes, she has always felt like fighting and even hitting a few people in her past. But this person is not a human being; this person is a six-foot monster. And will crush her.
But when Angela throws her hands, hitting him, the demon goes flying away, clashing with the wall so hard. Angela gasps, wondering how she could have been responsible for that outcome. It can't be possible, she doesn't have the strength to hit a six-foot monster, it can't be.
She looks at her hands, she feels them, but they're the softest hands ever.
"What?"
The demon roars once more, and when he stands, he looks like he's in pain,n but he doesn't give up. He still wants to harm Angela and when he rushes toward her, he stops and screams in pain after something shoots up at him. Angela looks behind the demon, and her eyes widen when she sees a blue glowy arrow on the demon's back.
"What the hell is even going on right now?" she asks, looking for who could have shot that arrow.
"Good work, Wendy!" Someone shouts, and coming out of the shadows is a handsome black guy in a nice fade haircut and a black coat. He's holding two shotguns in both hands, and they both glow under the moonlight. Angela's eyes widen in shock because what the fuck?
"Thank you!" Angela looks up to see an Asian girl, specifically Japanese, on the roof. She's also wearing black, but it's girly, and she holds a blue arrow; it's beautiful, they look like moonstones.
"Hi, are you okay?" She asks Angela, waving at her.
Angela nods slowly and waves back at Wendy.
"Hi, I'm James Jones, but you can call me JJ. Nice to meet you, beautiful," he says, winking at her. He is handsome indeed, and Angela is also boy crazy. Angela looks at his hand, which is stretched out for a shake. But she doesn't know what will happen if she does. She doesn't know who and what these people are. So she's just going to keep her distance.
"Now's not the time for pleasantries, we have a demon to kill," someone with a voice deeper than JJ's walks up. Now, the person who just walked up is the one whom Angela notices the most.
He's tall, just like JJ, with light blond hair, electric blue eyes, full lips, and muscular, and he holds two blue sabre swords with so much confidence. All their weapons are blue, and Angela suspects that those weapons are used mainly for creatures like this.
The handsome boy takes a look at Angela, and Angela looks into those precious blue eyes of his and how beautiful they are. He rolls his eyes in a way of looking away from her. And then focuses on the monster. Angela looks at him with so much distaste. Yes, he has a monster to kill, but he doesn't have to be rude about it.
The blond boy swipes at the monster, and the monster screams. JJ begins to shoot at him, and the monster tries to attack them, but they don't let him. The blond guy stabs and stabs and swipes his sword at the monster, JJ shoots him, they both attack him until he's on his knees, weak.
There's black smoke coming out of his body, which is seen to represent his blood. Is his blood made of black smoke? That's bizarre.
"Go back to hell, demon!" The blond guy spits in rage and then stabs the demon with both swords one last time. The demon lets out his final scream and final breath until he turns into smoke and disappears.
"Oh my God, where did he go?" Angela asks, shocked, and she looks around her.
JJ chuckles. "Relax, beautiful. The demon is gone. If you try to kill him from where he's from, then he won't die because in hell, demons are immortal, well, the low-ranked ones, but if you try to kill one here, they'll disappear forever."
"A demon?"
"Yes!" A high-pitched voice makes Angela jump. She turns to see Wendy standing next to her, smiling, her bangs covering her forehead.
"That demon we just killed now is low-ranked, called a dybbuk. It feeds off people who are sad, depressed, and just have negative emotions; it makes them more powerful, and it goes about giving other people those emotions." Wendy explains, and Angela just looks at her in shock.
"Okay, so how come the lady he was feeding from didn't see it?"
"Because she's human." The blond boy says begrudgingly, like we're wasting his time.
"That's Christopher, by the way," JJ says as matter-of-factly. Angela looks away from JJ and looks back at Christopher, trying to understand what he means by what he just said.
"What do you mean humans can't see demons? I'm human and I saw that creature perfectly, you all did, you even killed it."
"Well, that's because we're not particularly human, well, we are but half," JJ says. Angela looks at them, confused as hell. Not understanding anything that they're saying.
"We're half human, half angel. We're the descendants of the giants who bullied humans; we're called nephilims." JJ explains to her, and she nods her head, even more confused.
"You do know what nephilims are and the story of the angels who came down to earth to sleep with women?" Christopher asks her with his arms crossed.
"Yes, yes, I know the story. I grew up catholic. But- I still don't get it, aren't you supposed to be giants, and I thought you all died in the flood, how were they able to make more nephilms?"
"That's a long story, but the reason why we're not giants is because the more generations passed by, the more we started looking like actual humans," JJ explains.
"Okay, okay, we'll circle back to that later, you guys have angel blood, but what about me. How am I able to see demons when I'm human?"
"That's the thing, you're not human."
"What?" she scoffs. "That's absurd."
"No, it's not."
Chris rolls his eyes impatiently. "Oh my God, just spit it out! You are an angel, you died in a car accident with your parents, and God placed a halo on you to bring you back to life as an angel."
Angela looks at the three of them in shock, and all she can think is…
What the hell is even going on here?
