What after next? Keep following on Agora Issues."
"How exciting."
Derrick reading the headlines on Agora Issues while laying down on his bed. Then, he recalls back yesterday.
After the submission to the Grand Navy with Commodore Vos, he meet Percy at the square.
"That woman was so high and mighty, she thinks she could control us or what?" Percy snapped.
Derrick didn't pay too much attention on Percy, instead he look at the surroundings. He see bunch of hay dummies, some worn gloves on the ground and a giant shield sitting in the corner.
"Percy, you see these? These might be the things needed for the trainings." Derrick asked.
"You are right! How come I haven't see those yet?" He agreed.
"Anyways, I think these are for tomorrow's test. Heard from other navies that we will be testing magics, weapon and strength." Derrick said.
"Really? Percy the navy is ready to show it's dominance tomorrow!" He exclaimed with joy.
Derrick smiled, watching him happily immersed in the fantasy of becoming a powerful navy.
"THUMP-THUMP-THUMP"
A knock on the door brought Derrick back from recalling.
"Wake up! We are late, Derrick!"
Derrick frustrated, pick up the sword and walks out.
"Stop it, I am coming out!" Derrick replied.
"Thanks god, let's head to the square now." Percy leaned his head back, exhaling the breath.
"Relax, buddy."
The Square, Silverhold
Rows of people lined up, chatting while waiting for the recruitment ceremony.
"Good morning, recruits!" an old man bellowed, shutting down all the talks in the yard.
"My name is Commander Wilfred. First, I appreciate that all of you willing to become a part of the Grand Navy, even if half of you guys cramming on the railings. But remember, your presence is what matters!" Wilfred present himself.
After his speech, the recruits cheered.
"That's right! Commander Wilfred! Presence is what matters!"
"Even if i am standing on the deck, I believed this is going to be great!"
Excitement filled through the square within a moment. The cheers getting louder and loud, but Derrick eyes narrowed.
Besides Wilfred, he see something on covered, tied to the pillars. He tried to look it clearly, but the massive crowd have blocked his visions.
"Hey Percy, you see what that is?" Derrick asked.
When Percy was about to answer, the voice rose again.
"Now recruits!" He shouted. "Listen carefully, this will be your first lesson of being the marines!"
He paced before them, his voice sharp and unforgiving. "First of the all! Every marines have one duty — is to drive every damned pirate from this world!"
Apparently, everyone were caught up in the heat of the moment, thus no one yet understand the true meaning behind.
As soon as he finished speaking, the man, to everyone's surprise, suddenly threw back the blanket. Three bound pirates appeared in sight, glaring at the man with hatred burning in their eyes. Derrick's heart tightened.
His actions had shocked everyone. However, Wilfred ignores both shocked eyes from the crowds and strong murderous intent in the pirates. He proceed to continue his speech.
"These are the pirates! These are the pirates who had destroyed the peace of War Seas! They are the reason for hundreds, or even thousand of deaths!" His actions had shocked everyone.
No one had expected events to take such a turn. A moment ago, the crowd had been cheering, eager to swear themselves in as marines. Yet in the very next breath, their excitement was drowned by silence, for they now stood not at a celebration, but the execution of pirates.
The crowd became completely silent. Only the sounds of wind breezing can be heard.....
Wilfred stood still for really long time, seems to making up a choice. And then finally, he roared, shattering the silence. "EMPTY THE MAGAZINES!!!"
"BANG! BANG! BANG!"
Gunfire tore through the yard. Bullets riddled the pirates' heads, torsos, and legs, until their bodies were nothing but shredded husks — like hornets' nests of blood and bone.
The cheering died. Horror washed over the recruits.
"This.... is too brutal....." Percy trembled.
"It..... really is...." Even derrick himself gasped.
Veins bulged on Wilfred's face, giving his last speech, filled with wrath and disappointment.
"You recruits still want to become a marine!?"
"Yes...? " the crowd trembled.
"Then....Do you know how many families these scum have destroyed? How many innocents they've butchered?"
At here, he sighed with sadness, seems to recalled his past, but then anger replaced it, rising his voice to the greatest.
"If I let them live today, they will be killing our relatives tomorrow and even us! In this world, no one is innocent. It's kill, or to be killed!"
"THEREFORE, DO YOU ALL UNDERSTAND?"
"...."
"UNDERSTAND?"
"....Yes....Commander Wilfred!"
