Quinn Grey, who had been struggling for a long time, finally unclenched her fists. Setting aside her mutant abilities, she was still just a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old girl—what ill intentions could she possibly have? Her current state was nothing more than the result of being ostracized by those around her.
"Alright, I'll agree," Quinn Grey said. With her rational mind restored, she was easy to reason with. "I don't want to be treated like a freak. If I have the chance to change my life, I'm willing to try."
"Good. Then pack your things tonight—we'll pick you up tomorrow!"
Charles suppressed the surge of joy in his heart. This was the first student to join the Mutant Academy. Once they admitted the first, there would be a second, a third…
The previously fierce and intimidating Quinn Grey now nodded obediently. Seeing this, Charles and the others exchanged glances and nodded in agreement before exiting the space together.
Back in reality, Charles immediately stood and stepped forward to shake Ultron's hand. His voice carried a hint of excitement: "Mr. Ultron, we really have to thank you this time. Without your help, this could have been a huge problem."
Ultron smiled. "Our boss said it himself: if he's the principal of the Mutant Academy, then whatever concerns him concerns us. Helping with this is only natural. That said, you've got more work ahead of you. Quinn Grey is just the beginning. You'll encounter many more children with extraordinary mutant abilities. Both of you will also need to continue improving your own strength."
Charles and Erik both nodded earnestly. As teachers of the Mutant Academy, their responsibilities were twofold: not only did they need to teach students to control their powers, but they also needed to possess the ability to manage them.
After all, if a student were ever to lose control of their abilities, and no one could restrain them, the consequences could be disastrous.
Ultron said, "Regarding the mutant suppressors, I'll give you the design plans. You'll need to find someone to build them. We provide the designs, but the technical execution is on you. After all, we can't always make these things for you."
"You also need to strengthen your teaching staff. You can't just focus on recruiting students; you need to find mutants close to your age as well. Otherwise, once the student body grows, just the two of you won't be able to manage."
"Hm, we've thought of that. We already have target candidates." Erik retrieved a computer from the office and opened the files they had collected. "Henry, twenty-four years old, mutant ability is beast transformation. When activated, he turns into a blue-maned lion hybrid. He's a scientist spanning multiple disciplines."
"Aurora, twenty-three, ability to control weather…"
"Raven, twenty-two, ability to shapeshift into anyone, including their voice and fingerprints…"
"Logan, ability to heal rapidly, with a pair of bone claws…"
As Erik introduced each of the teacher candidates they had selected, Ultron nodded in satisfaction. It sounded promising, and he was curious to see what kind of team they would form.
Quicksilver said, "Good. Then as previously discussed, our general store will continue to provide regular funding. The teaching staff must be top-notch."
Thanks to the success of GTA alone, the general store's monthly income started at two billion dollars. For a single game, that level of revenue was truly astonishing.
Even previous hit games had only generated a few million per month—a good sum among their peers, but nothing compared to GTA. Everything in GTA was free, with only one in-game currency. Players could earn it from missions or even from attacking NPCs on the street, but in very small amounts. To acquire better equipment, clothing, or property, one had to complete missions, which were challenging.
Thus, the majority of the hundreds of millions of players opted to spend real money. At least 95% of them recharged their accounts, ensuring GTA's monthly revenue remained high. On top of that, there were wealthy players willing to spend a fortune on even a single knife skin. This made GTA's earnings all the more incredible.
"Don't worry," Erik said with a smile. "With the money you provide plus our own assets, we have more than enough. Since we don't need to worry about funding, we can fully dedicate ourselves to this as our lifelong mission. If we do it well, we'll leave a lasting legacy."
Once a physical education teacher, Erik hadn't initially aimed to achieve much—just staying near Charles was enough. Now, providing a safe haven for mutants worldwide was far more meaningful than sleeping at home all day, and Erik was more than happy to commit.
To ensure nothing went wrong, Ultron and Quicksilver planned to accompany them. After all, these were Level-3 mutants. Having one more person on-site meant one extra layer of safety, keeping control firmly in their hands.
That night, Ultron informed Han Yu of the situation via the Green Lantern ring. The ring came from the general store and could transmit messages across worlds. As long as the recipient was approved by Han Yu and lived within the store, the ring could convey messages across dimensions.
…
Meanwhile, Ultron relayed the entire situation to Han Yu, who was now experiencing the following day.
"Quinn Grey has appeared?"
Han Yu raised an eyebrow. He was well-acquainted with her identity. In the films and comics in his memory, Quinn Grey was Phoenix, and her ability was one of the most powerful forces in the Marvel Universe: the Phoenix Force.
Its defining trait was "rebirth from ashes." True to its name, the Phoenix could rise anew even if its body was shattered. The Phoenix Force allowed the wielder's consciousness to persist and eventually reform into a new body.
Han Yu said, "Keep an eye on Quinn Grey's progress. I know her abilities, and once fully developed, she could rival Wanda's chaos magic in power. We need to track her growth carefully to avoid being caught off guard in case of emergencies."
"Understood, boss," Ultron said, then asked, "When will you return?"
"Within twenty-four hours, general store time," Han Yu replied, using the store's timeline as a reference. Since the flow of time differs between worlds, it could be daytime in the store while nighttime here.
After saying this, Ultron disconnected.
Han Yu exhaled deeply. He had just stepped away, and yet so much had already happened on Marvel Earth. At the time, he was still at Saitama's house—in the bathroom, no less.
After flushing and pushing open the door, he was startled.
"Fubuki, you don't need to follow me to the bathroom, do you?"
