Chapter 2 - The Prophesy And The Dark Dragon Lord

Far to the East of where Robert will be born, there lies an ocean that covers almost half of the world. In the middle of this ocean lies the remains of the other continent of this world. This continent was vast, it was around ten thousand miles across and seven thousand miles from the top of the continent to the bottom. However, many years ago there was a disaster that caused all but the tallest mountains on the continent to sink below the waters of the ocean. After the disaster, it became a dark land, and several dark creatures could be seen on the islands that the mountains became. Years later an old Lord awoke from his sleep of several thousand years. He soon re-established himself as the ruler of the islands and summoned to himself all the old dark creatures that he had at his command. He rules with an iron will, he is ruthless, vindictive, evil. He is The Dark Dragon Lord, and his name is Zarion.

Let's go back to twelve days before Robert was born.

Zarion sat on his throne, a black gold crown sitting on his head, even though he is evil, he still sat regally on his throne. He has long black hair down to the middle of his back, his eyes are a deep dark red, he has a hard face that seems to always be sneering, when he stands he is six feet seven inches tall, he is of a broad build, with thick hard muscles that can easily be seen under his elegant black clothes, and draped over his broad shoulders is a thick long black cape. As he sat on his throne, he made his plans to take over the rest of the world, but his thoughts and plans were interrupted by one of his many underlings slamming open the door to his throne room, and running up to the foot of his throne.

Zarion looked down disdainfully at the cretin who dared to interrupt his musings. "What's the meaning of this, you unless slime, if you've damaged my walls by thundering in here I'll have you flayed to within an inch of your life, speak and stop cowering in front of me, you pitiful waste." Zarion said with disdain and venom in his voice. "Forgive me my Lord, but the Soothsayer sent me, it appears as if they've had a vision that they feel you must be made aware of as soon as possible." The underling replied in a shaky voice, with much cowering and shivering because of how afraid the underling was. "Then tell them to come here and tell me what it is, who do they think they are summoning me like some lowly slave." Zarion said as his temper started to rise at being summoned.

"Forgive me, my Lord, but that isn't possible. The Soothsayer's in no condition to be moved. Every time anyone goes near them, they scream 'Get the Dark Lord, the end is coming for all of us'. They've already killed over a dozen guards and three captains. They are out of control my Lord, they have gone." the underling never got to finish what it was saying, as Zarion had taken its head off with a swipe of his claws before marching out of his throne room towards the Soothsayers room.

A short while later Zarion walked into the Soothsayers' room. The room was quite plain, it had a bed, a desk, and many stacks of paper all over the floor. "Why'd you summon me, you disgusting worm?" Zarion said while looking at the Soothsayer. The figure of the Soothsayer slowly got to its feet and turned towards Zarion, and even Zarion had a hard time keeping the look of utter disgust from his face as he looked upon the Soothsayer, as they were an ugly sight to behold. They looked similar to a many-eyeballed creature from a very popular table-top role-playing game, however the eyes it had would constantly melt and reform in its sockets, but no two eyes were ever the same.

When The Soothsayer spoke, its words sounded like they were coming from a slimy, squelchy, putrid bog. The breath of The Soothsayer matched the sound of its words. "My Lord, I've just received a prophecy that foretells of our end at the hands of another." Zarion looked a little scared at hearing this but quickly hid his fear, he then said to The Soothsayer. "Just tell me what you've seen, you putrid blob." "Yes my Lord" The Soothsayer replied before continuing. "This is the prophecy, "The Dark Dragon's Bane is about to come into the world, the Bane is stronger that the Dark Dragon. A person of Darkness and Light, the Bane, will rule the World, and the World will know peace for all time, after the defeat of the Dark Dragon, and even the Dark Dragon will be forgotten. The Bane is to be born in the south where the elements stand at equal distance from the Bane. But if the Bane dies before they are born, then The Dark Dragon will rule forever. The Dark Dragon's Bane is about to come into the World.""

Zarion roars and goes into a rage. He reaches forward and grabs several of the Soothsayer's eyes and rips them out of its body. "Why now? My control of this world is nearly complete, and you tell me this now when I'm so close. You useless witless putrid worm, I should kill you where you stand. You're lucky I need to act, otherwise you would be dead right now, you pitiful excuse for a demon." With that, Zarion turns and walks out of the Soothsayer's room, and makes his way out of his dark and imposing castle. Once he gets outside of the castle, Zarion takes off his cloak and tosses it to the side. Before the cloak hits the ground, the sound of tearing fabric can be heard as first a pair of wings sprout out of Zarion's back and he takes off, flying to the West towards the rising sun. As he flies, he continues to change and pieces of fabric can be seen falling from the sky. In a matter of a few seconds, there is a huge black dragon flying through the sky. This is Zarion's true form. He has a wingspan of thirty-five feet. He is now fifty feet from nose to the tip of his tail, his body is very large, and his powerful muscles can be seen moving under his extremely tough skin and scales.

He scans the horizon with his powerful red eyes and he can see a slight flicker of light, and he knows that's the direction he needs to go in, so Zarion changes his course to match where the light is. Soon Zarion is flying over the vast ocean that separates his domain from the rest of the world. It takes him three full days of flight to cross the ocean and get to the other continent, during the daytime, he can't see the light he's tracking, so when the sun sets and it becomes dark, he has to adjust his flight path in order to stay on course. When he gets to the land mass, Zarion is completely exhausted and extremely hungry, he sees a farm and he flies over to it with his stomach growling at him. He soon gets to the farm and he descends upon it, he flies down and picks up a cow-like creature and devours it in a few bites. He then files down and grabs another one and eats it in a few short mouthfuls. He then feels himself getting very tired, so he flies back down to the farm, landing on the farmhouse and flattening it with his heavy body, crushing several people that were in the house. There he settles down and allows his large eyes to almost fully close, and he soon falls asleep thinking. 'I can only sleep for a short time, as the time before the Bane is born is getting very close.'

After sleeping for half of the day, Zarion woke up with his stomach grumbling at him again, as the two cow-like creatures he'd eaten earlier were more like a snack than a full meal. So he was still feeling quite exhausted from his long flight, he rose to his feet and looked around himself and saw that there were many animals that he could eat and fill his belly. Zarion walks away from the farmhouse that was his bed, he takes in a deep breath and mixes it in his fire lung, he then opens his mouth and lets out a strong jet of fire that is mostly yellow with a small amount of black flames mixed in. Zarion directs the flames over the cow-like creatures nearby and roasts them, he then walked over to them and, after gathering up his meal, he settled back down on the remains of the farmhouse to eat his fill.

After finishing his larger meal, Zarion fell asleep again as his muscles were still very sore from his long flight, and he knew that it was going to take at least another day for him to recover from the flight, but as he is settling down to sleep, he saw that it was getting dark, so he looked for the light he had been following and saw it flickering in the night sky. Zarion saw that the light was quite a bit brighter than it was when he first saw it, and he knew that it wasn't just because he was getting closer to the light, it was also because the Bane was closer to being born. "By the looks of that light the Bane isn't going to be born for another few days, a week at the most, so I have a good amount of time to get to them before then, so long as nothing delays me" with this said Zarion closes his eyes and falls back to sleep.

The next day, Zarion is awoken by the sound of clanking metal. He opens one eye and looks at what's going on around him and sees one hundred soldiers standing in front of him with their weapons drawn, in front of the soldiers is a man sitting on a war charger, Zarion snorts and a large puff of smoke billows out of his nose. "What do you want maggots, you're disturbing my rest?" He asks the man on the charger. "We are here to put an end to you, you foul beast, prepare to die you evil monster" The man replies, with a slight tremor in his voice. A rhythmic rumbling can be heard coming from Zarion as he laughs at the man and his troops. "You think you can defeat me with such a pitiful offering, I do so hate getting steel stuck between my teeth, it takes so long to remove it, and it irritates my tongue." The man is slightly taken back at Zarion's remark, but he covers it quickly. "Well as that's you answer." The man turns to his troops and raising his voice he yells out a single word. "Atta...." he doesn't get to finish giving his command as Zarion's head had moved as quick as a striking snake and bitten his head off, which was the only part of his body that didn't have any Armour on it.

As the man's headless body falls off the charger, it bolts away from the battlefield, and the soldiers start to charge at Zarion however, they don't get very far, as Zarion takes a deep breath and mixes the air with his fire lung he lets out a large gout of thick black fire, and with a sweeping motion of his head he roasts all one hundred of the soldiers in their Armour. "I told you it was a pitiful offering, now to get back to my..." before Zarion can finish what he was saying he senses a strong magical presence. "Now what do we have here?" he asks himself as he looks around for the source of the presence, as he looks at the hill to his right he sees a single person on top of the hill. "So it's you, Turgon, I thought that presence felt familiar, so are you here for round two?" Zarion asks. "Not necessarily, I know why you're here and I can't let you kill the one who will end you." Turgon replied. At these words, Zarion roared furiously and reared up on his hind legs, spreading his wings to their fullest extent, which is exactly what Turgon wanted him to do.

As Zarion reared up Turgon acted, in one fluid motion, he took out his sword and slashed it through the air, as he slashed his sword through the air a white streak of light, was produced. The white streak of light flew through the air between Turgon and Zarion close to the speed of light, Zarion didn't have much time to react, as the streak came shooting at him. He only had enough time to raise himself up a bit more saving most of his left wing, however the streak slices through the main membrane of his left wing. Zarion roared out in pain and fury, he looked for Turgon, but Turgon had vanished from the hill as soon as he had sent the streak of light at Zarion in the hope of keeping Zarion there so that the child had a chance to be born before Zarion can get to him.

It took Zarion a few days to heal his wing, under normal circumstances, his wing would have healed in a matter of a few hours, but there was something else hidden in that slash that made it impossible for his wing to heal at its normal rate. During that time Zarion had to deal with a number of different troops coming and hounding him while he was trying to focus on healing his wing, but with the interruptions, it took much longer than he liked for it to heal, and he was starting to worry that he wouldn't be able to find the child before it was born.

However, after a few days, his wing had fully healed and had regained its strength. When he awoke to find that he was back to full strength, he looked over at the light and saw that it was so much brighter and he knew that the child was going to be born within the next day or two, so Zarion rose up to his full height, and then with an almighty leap he launched himself up into the sky and with a few powerful flaps of his wings he gained great height, he then angled himself towards the growing light and flew towards it as fast as he could.
