I brought some supplies with me, unsure of how long I would be there. A knife, food, water, and other necessities. I drove on the road for 3 long days, but at some point there was no road left to drive. I walked for 7 hours.
And now…
I finally made it to the village he told me about. It looked abandoned. Most of the houses looked like they were on the verge of collapsing. But the most notable thing wasn't something that was visible. Just looking at the village gave a certain uneasiness, it gave me shivers… but I shake it off, remembering what I came here for. I step foot in the village and begin making my way through. He told me to look for a basement or cellar and he did say one other thing.
"I'll know when I see it hm?"
I wonder what sets it apart that anyone would recognize it from that description alone. I make my way through the village step by step… I only stop abruptly when I hear a noise come from just around the corner. I walk quietly, being careful of every step.
I walk and walk yet I see no entrance. Which is expected. I didn't think I'd find it that fast but where could it be? This place really gives me the creeps, I can't shake that feeling that something is wrong with this place. Sometimes it sounds like I'm hearing noises but this place is slowly drilling into my head to the point where I can't distinguish actual things from paranoia, but it's better to be cautious. If that man came from here there might be other people here, who knows what they'll try to pull. I walk through the village constantly looking at my soundings, until I'm in front of a tree which gets me thinking. This place seems so lifeless, not like no one was here but the village itself seemed devoid of life. The trees and grass seem fake, but it was evidently real. I didn't wanna stay in the same place for too long so I quickly got a move on. As I walk through the desolate village I noticed some of the houses and buildings have writing on them. I walk closer to one to examine it. As I walk closer I start to notice something that brings chills all throughout my body. It was written in blood.
"FOR THE OLD ONES WILL!"
I can't tell how long ago this was written, the blood looks dried and old but that's all I can tell. It left an unsettling feeling in my stomach, but now I can be pretty much sure that this place isn't safe. Or at least at some point it wasn't safe. I continue walking forward but the message stayed in my mind. Could someone lunatic have massacred this entire village because they thought the old ones told them to? Or maybe something worse happened, what if it were the villagers themselves that caused their downfall like some sort of cult.
Maybe I'll find out more at some point.
However it's still odd. Normally people only pray or worship a specific old god, the old gods of fate, creation, war, life, and death . You can pray to a different god that you worship and ask them for something, but the likelihood of that God actually responding is low as opposed to praying to the one you worship. That writing, it was collectively addressing all of them. I've never met anyone who worships all of the gods. Well now that I think about it, I do remember hearing something about that like online or something. It's something pretty rare. I wonder if the answers are inside the place the man told me about.
I walk alongside a house to my right, as the wall comes to an end I peek my head around to check for any danger. The sight I saw struck me with a fear so strong it made my bones shiver…
It feels like my heart stops as I try not to make any noise. What am I seeing? Is that thing human? It looked like one but not at the same time. Its body is, disfigured… it's pale, like a ghoul. With one lengthy arm stopping shortly past its knees… the other looked more like a blade. No, it's pointed. Like a javelin… but it's not like his arm is the javelin, it's more like a hand was there at one point… like that thing sharpened its bone into a spear, but is that thing even human? Its bones could simply be structured that way. Looking at that thing… watching its uncanny movements left me with an unsettling feeling. I wait until it moves out of sight before I continue to make my move. I continue through the village with that thing still on my mind. I wonder just how many of those things are in this village.
After it's out of sight I continue walking past, I can't process what I'm feeling right now, seeing that, it just feels… wrong.
Tap tap tap
I hear something… footsteps from behind me. In a split second a few thoughts go through my head. they're getting closer… they're running. I'm stricken with panic, my teeth begin chattering… my lungs struggle to take in air, it feels like time is going by so slow. So slow that it prolongs the crippling fear I'm already experiencing. I'm not sure if I can outrun this thing. Can I fight it? I'm gonna die, No. I can't die. Not yet. I have to bring her back. I pull the knife from my pocket and gathering all the courage I could muster, I turned around swiftly. That courage was soon killed… When I look to see his arm inching towards my face. I stared at it for a while. Visualizing it go directly through my head, killing me instantly. I realized, I forgot to breathe…
I dodge the attack right before it hits me, the air returns to my lungs as I almost begin hyperventilating. Everything is normal again. Then I think to myself as I'm staring this creature in the eyes… Normal? It's almost amusing. It was probably instinct, but I began to back away, waiting for this thing to make a move. My legs felt like they were about to give out, I have to calm myself… Then it moved again, it lunged at me. It managed to dodge again. It's not that fast, or no… its movements when it attacks seem telegraphed. It seems to have large wind ups before attacking, I start to gain more courage that I can win… but that quickly diminished when I realized I backed myself into a wall. I didn't notice that I'd been backing away, and when I was stunned from the unexpected feeling of a wall to my back made the creature lunge again…
A sharp pain goes across my left arm… I dodged but barely, my arm is wounded, but not enough to cripple me. The creature shrieks as it moves its arm back and forth.
It's stuck.
I won't waste this opportunity. I grip the knife with my right hand strongly. I take a few steps forward and plunge it into the creature's neck… I can feel the knife cutting through its flesh, it leaves an unsettling feeling in my stomach. I slash outward, spilling blood on the ground, I grab the knife with both hands and use all my body weight to drive the knife as deep as I can into its torso… I slashed across, leaving a large wound across its stomach. I back away slowly… watching it wither in pain.
It holds its neck to try to stop the bleeding but to no avail. Its movements get slower and slower… and slower and slower until only a slight twitch remains. Then that dies too… I look at the knife covered in blood,
My hands are too…
All covered in blood… It's all red. I feel something coming from the pits of my stomach. I drop to my knees and vomit profusely on the ground. ive never killed something so humanlike before… I can't consider this a person. But It doesn't matter. I remember the words I said that night I dug her up. Whatever it takes… It doesn't matter what it was, or what it wasnt… whatever it takes. Whatever it takes. I repeat those words in my head as I pick myself off the ground… and continue walking forward
