Klein paced back and forth around a damaged gas street lamp and tried to incorporate his knowledge from the world of information overload. According to his earlier guesses, he made a further inference.
Mr. Azik might have become immortal due to some reasons, such as being a vampire. Could that be why he's survived for so long?
That's not right. When has there ever been a bronze-skinned vampire…
Plus, when I shook hands with Mr. Azik, I could clearly feel his body temperature and the fresh blood that flows within him.
Although he dislikes the heat of the South, he isn't afraid of the sun. He once competed in a rowing competition with other teachers under the hot sun…
("Is this him being dumb or racist?"
"Probably dumb."
"Definitely dumb.")
Hmm, there's another possibility. Mr. Azik's Sequence potion or some other factors bestowed him with a long life, and the price for it is memory loss! Man, taking into consideration his various dreams, can I presume that he loses his memory as part of a cycle? Every few decades, he forgets his past and gains new life. Then, his dreams are the lives that he has lived before… Heh heh, I think I've read something like that before in a novel…
("He's more obsessed with those novels than the entity...")
Still a bit confused on whether he should trust Mr. Azik and if he should report him to the Nighthawks, Klein quickly entered the mysterious palace above the grey fog and divined.
In the end, he got the conclusion that telling someone else that Mr. Azik was most probably a high sequence engineer would not end good and that in the future they might even become allies and help each other!
As he was preparing to leave the grey fog, he heard the kid's praying again. This time he could understand what he was saying due to Amon's language lessons (yes, they did do things aside from just making out during their study sessions).
And he had clearly heard the mention of the Land Abandoned by God! The one Amon family might even have some sort of connection to...
Without without thought Klein extended his spirituality towards the glowing crimson star and then in front of him appeared the figure of a kid... a two meter tall kid.
...
Klein, who had thought that his own height was quiet tall and good, couldn't help but feel self conscious over his height in front of this not even a legal age boy...
"Klein, cam I speak to you for a second?" Leonard asked, "It's Frye's turn to handle the sealed artifact right now,"
"Alright," Klein said with a little confusion but nonetheless sat down on the bed in the bedroom they had booked. He briefly wondered what Leonard was wanting to talk to him about.
Leonard didn't beat around the bush as he directly stated, "Are you a sequence 8 already?"
Klein let the words process in his mind for a while before he broke out in a panick, his first instinct was to lie and save his skin! "W-what are you talking about? It's only been a month since I've became a beyonder... hehe, what you're saying is impossible..." he murdered with little confidence as he clenched his fists into themselves. He briefly thought about running, but that would only make his case seem more suspicious... and did he even do anything wrong per se? Just drank something made by the ingredient his wife bought from a formula...
"I saw your moves today in the dream world, Frye didn't because he was knocked out. Those movements of yours weren't one withing human capabilities and it matches correctly with what I've read and seen about the Clown potion, your sequence 8 potion."
"That..."
"And it's not like digesting a potion fast is impossible, if one were to know of the correct method, within a month like is certainly achievable if a little rare. You should know what method I'm talking about..."
The acting method... so Leonard did know about that...
"Although getting the materials for the options by our salaries is impossible unless someone has a fortune they had inherited or earned from somewhere else, there's still Amon with you whi may have gifted you some stuff that could have been the materials you have been looking for or had sold them in return to buy the materials you had been looking for. Not to mention you were the one who had performed dream divination on that guy from where we got our clown potion, why wouldn't you gave asked about it?"
Klein stared at Leonard in silence for a while before he sighed and spoke with a resigned tone, "Am I going to be arrested and sent to the cathedral...?"
Leonard burst out laughing, "No way! Amon would kill me if I do!"
Klein wanted to fight back that Amon was a really gentle person and would never harm someone else, but held the voice in his heart down considering the tense situation. It was also better not to mention Amon here anyways since his family is kind of in the hiding...
"You technically didn't do anything wrong, actually if one doesn't have enough contribution points to exchange for materials for their potions, they can actually buy from their own money and take the potion by themselves. Although they are required to inform their direct superiors about it, but that's because of the chance of losing control if one hasnt digested their potion fast enough, in your case, you seem perfectly sane and in your mind."
"So... I'm free?" Free from what even Klein didn't know but he felt that these words suited the best here.
"Yup," Leonard said as he threw his hands behind his head casually, "I dont really mind, and I can help you keep it a secret if you want. Although what you did isn't technically a crime, the fact that you know about that method and have digested the potion so fast would pull the gazes of the higher ups to you and you may even have to sign up a contract in the name of the goddess, binding you to "Her" in a vow that you may not want to be tied up into, and it's not like I dont want a better partner. A sequence 8 that can fight will be better suited for our protagonist duo than a sequence 9 lackey."
"..." why did it feel like Klein needed to take offense to those string of words?
"Nothing has changed, I'll help you keep your secret, everyone has many things they want to hid, hehe. Like me,"
Okay this guy definitely does thing he's the protagonist of some visual novel... where was the nearest mental hospital again?
"But that would change our usual formation and your practices and training though, to better suit your new heightened power. We can just claim your increased fighting finesse on me being a good teacher." Leonard smiled.
All you did while my training sessions was sit back while I suffered doing your boring exercises... klein felt like life was very unfair at that moment.
