Suspicion of DOC hung between them like poison. The night air around Monas felt suddenly cooler.
"It's impossible," Bimo denied, still trying to digest it. "He ... he's kind. He saved Riani."
"Or he made sure Riani was silent," said Mr. Daru, his voice was loud and full of new bitterness. The castration by Leo still feels painful. "Think, Bimo. He is the only person who has full access to Riani after we leave. He can easily install the 'bolt' spiritual pressure itself and blame the syndicate. It will be a perfect disguise. Who will suspect a kind-hearted old doctor?"
Bimo was silent. It makes sense, and that made him feel nauseous. "But his strength ... I don't feel such darkness from him."
"A true con artist will hide his true aura," said Mr. Daru. "Especially someone who has been pretending for decades. Your new vision, a gift from the source of the source, may have penetrated his illusion for the first time."
Bimo focused his mind again towards the hospital in Menteng. The vortex of darkness is still there, throbbing with a crime that is almost unbearable. It feels like the essence of all the crimes they have fought for.
"We must be sure," Bimo said finally, his voice was flat. "We can't accuse him without proof."
"You're right," agreed Mr. Daru, even though his tone was still tense. "But we must be very, very careful. If he is a 'fraud' who was warned by Agni and guard, then he was the most dangerous enemy we have ever faced."
They did not immediately go to the hospital. It will be too risky. Instead, they returned to a boarding house in Palmerah to plan. They sat on the floor, the Jakarta energy map stretched between them, but now Bimo is hardly needed. The map on his head is much more complete.
"We can't just walk in and accuse it," said Mr. Daru. "We need a spy. We need to see what really happens behind the hospital wall."
"How?" Bimo asked.
"Anton," answered Mr. Daru. "He has a car. He can watch. And we might need other help." Pak Daru took an old cellphone and made a call. He spoke briefly with someone, set the meeting.
An hour later, Anton arrived with the taxi. A few minutes later, a young woman with punk pieces and leather jackets appeared on the door. That is Riani. He looks paler and thinner than Bimo remembers, but his eyes have a fire that has just anger.
"Riani? Have you recovered?" welcome Bimo.
"Enough to move," Riani answered, her voice was hoarse. "Daru tells everything. About Leo. About the possibility ... Doc." His name is called a disgust.
"Are you sure it's strong enough?" asked Mr. Daru worriedly.
"The bolt has been revoked. My strength is slowly returning. But what I have enough for this." He raised his hand, and a small illusion of a colorful butterfly appeared on his palm before disappearing. "I can make you invisible. Only for a few minutes, and only from the human eyes, not from Jin."
That is something.
The plan is: Anton will watch the hospital from outside with his car, communicate via walkie-talkie. Riani will use his illusion to disguise Bimo and Mr. Daru as they infiltrate to find evidence. They will not confront directly. Just lurking.
Meak left with Anton's taxi, parked across the street from the luxury hospital. The place looks calm and sterile, the lights shine brightly.
"It looks normal," Anton whispered from the wheelchair.
"That's the problem," replied Mr. Daru.
Riani nodded at Bimo and Mr. Daru. "Ready? This will feel like a cold wave enveloped you."
He closed his eyes and tilted a low spell. Bimo felt a strange sensation, like cold water flowing over his skin. He looked at his hand and was surprised. He and Mr. Daru looked blurry and sparkling, almost invisible.
"Go," hissed Riani, sweating on her temple. "I'll hold it from here. But don't stay long."
Bimo and Pak Daru got out of the car and crossed the road. The security guard at the front post did not pay attention to them at all. They walked past the main sliding door and entered the luxurious and quiet lobby.
"The strength ... the stronger," Bimo whispered, shivering. The source of darkness pulled him like a magnet. "From the bottom. There is a basement."
They found an emergency ladder door and descended him. The atmosphere changes from sterile to be old and dusty. At the bottom, there is a long corridor with a flickering neon lamp. At the end of the corridor, a steel door with a security code.
"Locked," said Mr. Daru.
Bimo doesn't need to melt it. With his new vision, he can * see * the flow of energy around the keypad. He pressed a few buttons that felt "correct", following an invisible energy flow. The door rang click and open.
What's behind the door is not an ordinary storage space.
That is a laboratory. But unlike any laboratory that Bimo has seen. On the wall, large glass tubes filled with turbid green liquid. Inside, there are vague shapes-some like distorted jinn, others like the part of the human body that is destroyed. The computer screen shows complex energy graphics and destiny lines that are rotated. And in the middle of the room, a strange machine, such as a changed dentist chair, with metal bonds and cables that stick out of it.
But the most terrible is Doc.
He did not wear his clean white lab coat. He wore a loose black robe with a strange symbol embroidered on the chest. He turned his back to them, checking a screen that showed a picture of a fearful young woman tied to the chair. The woman's red line was thin and almost broken.
"The process is slow," Doc grumbled to himself, his voice was the same as usual, friendly and attentive, which contrasts with the terrible scene in front of him. "But the energy produced ... is very pure. Very strong. Almost enough to call him."
Bimo felt like vomiting. Betrayal is so perfect, so evil.
Pak Daru took out a small pocket camera and began to take photos as proof.
Suddenly, Doc turned around. His eyes, usually friends behind his glasses, now shine with evil green light. He smiled, an expression that was completely unfriendly.
"I know you will come," he said, his voice was still soft. "I can feel disturbance in your energy, Bimo. Like a candle flame in the dark. Beautiful, but ... disturbing."
Riani's illusion has been eroded by the dark power of Doc. They are now completely seen.
"Why, Doc?" asked Mr. Daru, his voice broke out by deep disappointment.
"Why?" Doc laughed, a terrible voice. "For progress, Daru! For true strength! So far we have only scavenged, driving out little jinn. We never understand the big picture. The syndicate offered it. They offered a place on the right side of the ruler when he finally walked in this world."
"So you are anchors," hissed Bimo, fear of being replaced by a burning anger. "You are the one he will occupy."
"Occupy? No, stupid kid. That is an honor! I will * become * part of him. His strength will be my strength. I will be eternal!" His eyes shined with madness. "And all this," he pointed around the laboratory "is for him. Harvesting energy, twisting destiny ... all to welcome him!"
He raised his hand, and two large jinn shaped like hell dogs with red eyes and mouth -blooded mouth from the air. They growled, sipping saliva that eroded the concrete floor.
"Catch them," Doc ordered casually. "He wants the fire to be alive. But the old one ... make him suffer."
Jin-jin hit.
"Bimo, now!" Pak Daru shouted, taking a defensive position.
Bimo does not need to be told twice. This anger over betrayal and crime flooded him. The pure white fire burned in his hand, brighter and hotter than before. He threw the two exact bursts of fire, each hit one jinn.
The Jin-jin screamed in pain as the purification fire burned them, turning them to ashes in seconds.
Doc just raised eyebrows, impressed. "Amazing. Really extraordinary. But you are still a child who plays with a match."
He recited the spell, and a dark green energy ball formed in his hand. He threw it at Bimo. Bimo raised his hand, making a fire shield. The energy ball hit the shield and exploded, threw Bimo on the wall.
"Run, Bimo!" shouted Mr. Daru. He pulled out a bottle of sacred powder and sprinkled it in the direction of the doc, forming a dazzling smoke wall.
Bimo got up, his head was ringing. He saw Mr. Daru pulling something from his bag a small pill. "Mr. Daru, don't!"
But it's too late. Pak Daru swallowed the pill. Instantly, the aura changed. He stood more upright, his eyes glowed with forced and dangerous power. It was an energy booster, something he said was very risky for his old heart.
"Find Riani and Anton! Larilah!" Pak Daru ordered before lowering toward the doc, his hand formed an energy seal to withstand the next attack.
Bimo wants to fight, but he knows this is their only chance. Doc is too strong. He turned and ran out of the laboratory, along the corridor, and climbed the stairs.
He exploded out of the emergency ladder door to the lobby, attracting everyone's attention. Riani's illusion has completely disappeared.
"Bimo! Here!" Anton shouted, standing near the entrance, his face was pale. Riani is beside him, looks exhausted.
Meak ran out of the hospital and entered the Anton taxi. Anton pressed the gas pedal, and the car shot away.
"Mr. Daru ..." Bimo's breathing limp, looking at the hospital that is getting away. "He's still there!"
"There's nothing we can do now!" Riani said, her voice trembled. "Doc ... he ..."
"He is his traitor," Bimo said, destroyed. "He works for a syndicate. He wants to be a 'anchor' for the ruler."
Riani hit the dashboard angrily. "I know there's something wrong with him! He is too perfect!"
They returned to the boarding house, their hearts were destroyed by betrayal and fear for Mr. Daru. They have found the real enemy, but at a very high cost.
A few hours passed with anxiety. There is no news from Mr. Daru.
Then, right when dawn will push, they hear the sound of friction on the front door. Bimo opened it with alert.
Pak Daru fell inside, his body was battered and bleeding. His breathing was gasping, and his aura was very weak. He was barely aware.
"Mr. Daru!" Bimo knelt beside him, trying to hold it.
"He ... is too strong," Mr. Daru breathed. "But I ... run away. He doesn't ... expect ... the amplifier."
He held Bimo's arm strongly, his eyes opened with difficulty.
"Bimo ... he knows ... about you. He knows ... about your plans. He doesn't ... will stop."
The holding arm becomes sagging. Pak Daru fainted, his breathing was panting and irregular.
The terrible truth is now open. Secret battles have ended. The real war had just begun. And their enemy is no longer a faint shadow, but a man they all believe, who has all information about them, and who has the power to open the door for something far more terrible.
Bimo saw an old body that was destroyed on the floor. The anger he felt at the hospital again, but this time, it was cold and concentrated. Like the sun froze in his chest.
He raised his head, staring at Riani and Anton.
"We have to hide. And we must cure it," he said, his voice did not show emotions. "Then, we will fight. There is no more place to hide."
Doc's betrayal has decided on all the bonds. Now, all that remains is fire and anger.
