Chapter 72 - Surviving until Dawn.

Becky POV

No one slept after that.

Even when no one pointed accusing fingers at me anymore, I still judged myself silently, and I knew guilt would have eaten deeper if the shapeshifter had killed Susan.

Who were the shapeshifters reporting to? That was my biggest question: we needed to find the ones behind the scene.

After some time, the lanterns turned on and burned steadily again, and the presence withdrew, but rest never returned. No one wanted to sleep or leave their lives in the hands of anyone to watch.

Fear lingered heavily in the air. The farmhouse felt smaller now; it felt like it was crowded with ghosts and unfinished screams. "Everyone, let's move these bodies if we want to be able to stay here until dawn." The kid spoke first for the first time after our first encounter. This was when I was hearing his voice.

He was an old soul, no doubt.

"No, it's too disgusting." Anita said.

All eyes turned to her as she immediately shut up.
