Chapter 8 - To High Green

In Maxwell's case, his talent had already reached the [Godly-Grade], or [SSS-Class], level, which meant his talent could not develop any further in its true sense.

In other words, even the slightest development of the talent's own content was enough to break its limit.

However, there was no other way for Maxwell to level up; ultimately, he would level up by making deliveries, and even beyond that, the fact that zombies or mutant zombies would not attack him meant he could remain neutral.

In this situation, it was certain that Maxwell's delivery area would expand and he would be able to move around more freely because, as stated in the Delivery Driver Class description, 'The user could not go beyond the maximum delivery point.'

Frankly, this situation was terrible. There was a reason Elise and the Lonely Ones group left Sheffield.

Massive battles would break out here in the near future. Dozens of groups would gather to kill the zombie population in Sheffield. After all, another way for these people, referred to as 'the Awakened' in the book, to increase their status points was to use the energy stones extracted from zombies.

Well, of course, this also explains why many enemy or friendly groups wanted to gather in a place like Sheffield, which was overrun with normal zombies.

Maxwell, however, realised that even if no harm would come to him and he wouldn't suffer any damage from the zombies, the truth was that more human communities would increase the risk to his own head.

At home, in the building where he was, he was officially untouchable, and by making deliveries, he could maintain that untouchability with the energy stones he gathered.

Actually... living here wasn't such a bad plan.

After all, he knew that thousands of people still lived in Sheffield. It made no difference to him whether there were few or many people hunting zombies; when he made deliveries, the energy stones they earned would be his anyway.

'All right...' Maxwell said, having made all his preparations.

His first order was not far from him. It was actually an order he had received the day before, but Maxwell hadn't bothered with it because he wanted to rest.

The order was coming from High Green in Sheffield. It was a strange area full of flying clubs and bars, but it would definitely be fair to say it was very quiet.

What's more, it had many areas naturally surrounded by fences, so setting up a settlement or building a survival camp here shouldn't be too difficult.

To be extra careful, he waited for sunrise, or rather, he lay his head on his pillow and slept until dawn.

In the early hours of the morning, he got ready again as if nothing had happened.

Before leaving the building, he changed its name to [Safe Apartment] in the system window and then left the building.

When he went outside, he took the scooter from his inventory, which had already accepted the order, got on it, and then set off towards High Green, north of Sheffield.

His destination was the absolute northernmost point of Sheffield. It was in the area around the fishing pond above the flying club.

When Maxwell set off, he passed through the usual few zombies in the middle of the road and continued onward through the now-extinguished fire zones.

Within a short time, he had passed through the centre towards Burngreave Road and continued north. Although most of the roads were indeed badly damaged, it couldn't be said that there were any points where a scooter couldn't pass.

Maxwell followed the same route, turned onto High Greave Road, and then, after several minutes, managed to reach the far end of Chapeltown at a slightly higher speed.

He soon entered Charlton Brook and from there entered the border region of High Green.

The roads were so rough that Maxwell had to admit he hadn't expected an area like Charlton Brook to be in such good condition, almost untouched.

Still, that didn't mean all of High Green was in the same state.

Maxwell was riding his scooter along the roads when he noticed something. He realised that sounds were coming from the church right at the entrance to Wortley Road, in the middle of High Green.

The sounds coming from the church weren't like zombie sounds, which was enough to tell Maxwell that there were living people there.

As he walked slowly towards the church, he saw a sign in front of him that read High Green Methodist Church.

As Maxwell slowly approached the church, he saw that the entrance was blocked by barricades, and then, so as not to attract the zombies, he just tapped lightly on the door.

He could wait a little while for the delivery; many sounds were coming from inside, including children's voices, and frankly, Maxwell wondered why these people were staying here, in a place like a church, where it would be very easy to break in.

The moment he knocked on the door, the sounds from inside stopped immediately, and shortly afterwards, a young man looked out through the church windows.

The young man was holding a piece of cardboard that read, 'We don't want anything!' In short, they didn't seem to want to be disturbed.

Maxwell, thinking this would be a good introduction, took a pen and a notepad from the shop, then wrote a note saying, 'I'm a delivery driver. If you want to place an order, my door is always open,' and tore off the page.

He then placed a few energy drinks, tinned food, and a large amount of clean water into a box and left the note inside.

He then left the church, got back on his scooter, and set off to make the delivery.

He had about ten minutes left to go; he could now continue along Wortley Road and reach his destination.

Naturally, this route could be covered in a short time.

Still, the scene was not as good as he had hoped.

While the centre of this town-like area was in good condition, this place was completely covered in bloodstains. The lush green grass had now taken on a different colour.
