Chapter 12 - Chapter 13: Cleaning

After getting inside the building, Mrs. Cassie went to her room to wake Jennifer, while Damien went to his room to wake Alice.

Yesterday had been full of tense events, and now the group was finally starting to recover both physically and mentally.

Damien opened his door and saw the red-haired beauty still sleeping, the sunlight softly glowing on her already beautiful face.

He walked to the bed and gently nudged Alice."Hey, little princess, it's time to wake up," he said.

Damien's voice woke Alice. She rubbed her eyes and slowly opened them, looking up at him.

"Hmm, what time is it?" Alice asked.

"It's already morning," Damien replied. "Now come on, don't keep sleeping. Get up. I'll go make a cup of coffee for you."

Alice got up from her bed while Damien left the room to head to the kitchen.

On his way, he saw Jennifer coming out of her room, and soon after, Mrs. Cassie stepped out as well.

"Hey, good morning. How was your sleep?" Damien greeted Jennifer.

"It was good," Jennifer said. "The bed was much more comfortable than the dormitory."

They all headed toward the kitchen while Mrs. Cassie went to her room where the military cellphone was kept. She tried to call her contacts, but no reply came back.

Meanwhile, Damien was making coffee for Alice. After freshening up, Alice also came to the kitchen. Damien poured the coffee into a cup, handed it to her, and said he would be going out for a while.

He went to his room and picked up his samurai sword, which was now worn out. The sword had originally been just a cosplay piece with a bit of sharpness, but after the battles it had gone through, it was already close to breaking.

Damien changed into a long-sleeved outfit to keep his skin covered, then went downstairs. Headless Horseman 1 and 2 were already waiting on their horses.

They had circled the area and gathered the bodies left behind, but couldn't bring all of them back. Damien decided to use the Sacrificial Ritual again to strengthen his undead army.

The dead bodies were piled on two sides. There weren't many, but enough for the ritual. Damien began chanting, and from the ritual circle two new undead emerged—skeletons covered in heavy armor and carrying shields and swords. Their bone armor looked far more majestic than the armor Damien had crafted for his normal skeletons.

These new undead were Heavy Armored Skeletons, proficient with sword and shield, almost like knights but without horses. He learned this from the Book of the Dead, which helped him identify and control the undead more effectively.

Another interesting thing he found in the book was that they were also capable of riding mounts, though they would need their own skeleton beasts.

Damien used Soul Scan and discovered that both Heavy Armored Skeletons were Tier 0, Level 1.

Now in Damien's army of undead, the most powerful was Headless Horseman 1, who had reached Tier 0, Level 3. Next was Headless Horseman 2 at Tier 0, Level 2, followed by the two newly summoned Heavy Armored Skeletons, each at Tier 0, Level 1. All the other skeletons were still at the apprentice level.

Damien left most of the skeletons behind to protect the building, only taking four skeletons along with his strongest summons.

His goal today was to start clearing out the zombies across the university and secure the area. Another important task he wanted to try was using the bead he had obtained from the swift zombie mutant he killed in the dormitory.

According to the Book of the Dead, this bead could serve as the core to create a Golem. At first, Damien thought about creating a steel golem, but after reading more, he realized the bead would act as the control center—or the "mind"—of the golem. Because the bead was small, the golem would not be able to move properly if the material used was too heavy or dense.

With this in mind, Damien decided to try making a stone golem instead, using the gravel piles left at a nearby construction site where a new building was being made.

He and his undead marched toward the site. Thanks to Headless Horseman 1 and 2's hunting last night, the area was much quieter, with fewer zombies around. However, as they went further, they reached another building completely surrounded by zombies.

"Looks like there are humans inside," Damien thought. He immediately gave the order for his undead to attack.

Headless Horseman 1 and 2 charged forward on their horses, slicing through zombies left and right. The skeletons followed behind, swarming the scattered zombies and finishing them off with their bone weapons.

The two heavy-armored skeletons stayed behind to guard Damien. He wasn't sure if any mutant zombies were hidden inside the building or mixed into the horde.

As the undead fought, the zombie crowd slowly thinned.

Meanwhile, in an upper floor of the building, a figure watched the battle from behind a curtain. After a moment, the figure quietly stepped back and entered a room where several people sat on the floor.

The figure said, "Boss, there's someone downstairs—another super-powered person—killing the zombies."

A man lying in the far corner opened his eyes and sat up. "What? How can that be? There's an entire crowd of zombies out there. Even if I keep throwing fireballs, I couldn't wipe them all out."

The speaker was a tall, muscular man—the president of the university's wrestling club. After absorbing an energy ball, he had awakened as a Fire Mage, a power that seemed completely opposite to his heavy, brawler physique.

John, who had been watching the fight below, said, "That person is still down there. I think he's a summoner or something like that."

The fire mage, Jack, walked over to the window for a clearer view. He watched the battle below but didn't spot Damien anywhere.

Jack asked John, "Are you sure you saw someone? I don't see any human down there."
