Slowly the day's passed by with the spring flowers dying as the days got warmer. During this time the Tao sister started feeling very stressed from their mother's pressure because of their bellies not moving. Tao Fang felt the most pressure as the wife and when looking at Bai Chun's relaxed expression she kept trying to bring up the problem only to be brushed off and told that it will happen eventually and to not rush it.
It's the morning the results come out and the family is sitting down eating breakfast. Bai Chun with an excited expression ate another bite of his food. Tao Fang, looking worried, looked over at him and paused before steeling herself and opening her mouth.
"Zhangfu, this slave has been trying to become with child before you bring the orphanage Muqin and children over." She said softly, trying to show her worry. Bai Chun slammed his hand down on the table looking annoyed.
"I need to head to town since the results come out today. Besides, I'm not rushing to have a child. I don't have any elders who are pressuring me or and siblings to compete with." He looked over at Tao Fang who's eyes were watering from his harsh tone.
"Once I hear of your bellies moving I will be happy until then stop speaking of it. This is a matter for women to worry about."
Tao Fang quietly lowered her head and sniffled softly. Tao Chun looked at her slightly worried because no matter how much they fight they are still siblings at the end of the day. Li Bai stood from the table walking to the kitchen area. Her eyes filled with mockery, feeling more confident knowing she is more favored by Bai Chun compared to the other two. She poured a cup of hot water and went back to the table. She smiled softly and glanced at Tao Fang and Tao Chun giving them a smirk before happily placing the cup in front of Bai Chun.
"Zhangfu, this slave brought a cup for you, please calm down." Bai Chun slimed at her and took a sip of his drink relaxing again. After taking another sip he took a peek out the window and noticed the sun starting to show on the horizon before turning to look at the women at the table.
"Like I was saying I will go into town to get the results of the exam and as long as everything goes well I will pass. Then I will head to my brother Huang Hao's for a job that he arranged for me." The Tao sister's eyes brightened hearing this and smiled at the thought of how close they are to being the Qizi and concubine of a low rank official.
Bai Chun then stood after finishing his drink and looked out the window again noticing the sun showing more and more. With a frown he will start walking to the door. The women rushed over, crowding him, fixing his clothes and attaching his money pouch as he walked to the gate.
At the gate he counted the amount of money in his pouch counting out ninety-seven copper then turning and giving all three a kiss on their cheeks before leaving for town.
In town he approached the magistrates notice board noticing a crowd surrounding it. Frowning he sighed before pushing through the crowd. Looking at the board he looked around until his eyes locked onto his name showing he passed and there will be a banquet at the office. With a grin on his face Bao Chun left the board.
He quickly walked to Huang Hao's family home before being stopped at the gate by the guards who bowed lightly to him.
"Sorry to stop you Bai Chun we know you are close to the young master but you aren't known so we must ask the young master before allowing you in." Bai Chun frowned at them but nodded his head as one of the guards stepped to the gate and sent a servant to Huang Hao.
Bai Chun looked at the guards and smiled.
"I just found out that I passed the final exam and will be ranked soon." The guards looked at him surprised.
"That's why the young master is so close to you. Glad to know the young master didn't waste time on you." Bai Chun's expression froze hearing his subtle dig. A young guard spoke up with a curious sparkle in his eyes.
"Why did you come and visit the young master instead of looking for a few tutoring jobs with the rich?" Hearing his question, Bai Chun just smiled without answering his question. A nearby older guard nudged him with a frown and glanced around.
"Don't question the young master's matters." The young guard went pale after realizing he overstepped and glanced around, eyes locking onto a servant that stopped at the gate.
The servant bowed to Bai Chun and indicated to him to enter.
"Please follow me, the young master will see you at his inner residence." Bai Chun bowed lightly and ignoring the guards entered the house following behind the servant leading him.
