Chapter 3 - Chapter Three - P and R

Jojo had been ordered by his master to go to a shop and buy some food to replenish their food supply

Jojo had deposited all the food stuff on the list on the table, when a man walked in with a cart filled with weapons and on the cart there was a P in calligraphy etched on its side

Jojo had always worried what that P meant, having repeatedly seen it so many times

"Mister shopkeeper, what is the meaning of that P"

The shopkeeper replied

"Well, you see the weapons were made by a prestigious organization and they usually put their logo on them to advertise"

This was a satisfying answer for Jojo. But then he realized that he had also spotted a few weapon carts with another letter. R

"What about R"

The shopkeeper just cleared his throat and stared at the floor, as if trying to avoid answering his question

"Mister shopkeeper"

Then the shopkeeper just got furious

"Here are your items and your change. Now get out of my shop!!!"

He bolted out of the shop, not wanting to provoke the shopkeeper even more. But what he did made Jojo arouse his suspicions

Whenever he saw the weapon carts with R lettered on it, it would usually be with shady people who allegedly smuggled them in

But why was the system so quirky that it allowed for P and not R

This whole ideology bothered Jojo so much that by the time he got home he had decided to ask his master about it

He told Jojo the same thing and also said that they were not allowed to talk about R

If even his master was not allowed to say it then it had to be bad, right; he even added that it was unauthorized to say that name in this town

All night, Jojo pondered this and just wanted an answer to his questions and no one could give him one

****

The next day, Jojo was walking to a spot he was sure there would be a R cart─that was what he used to call it

This time he saw that the shady men were being nicked; which was doing everyone good

But he then said a R cart in an alley and bolted off with it; he did not want his presence to be known

He got to a portion of land in the forest where humans did not really go to

"Now, let's see"

He examined the cart to see if their was anything wrong with it; nothing was wrong, it was as sturdy and structurally sound as the P cart. It even had a note that read

"Infusable"

But then why do people despise, it was not like it was not as good as the P cart; it didn't even look cheapened

This just aroused Jojo's suspicion even more. He needed an answer

So he went back to the second person he asked about it; Master Zeugma

Master Zeugma sighed

"You really want to know?"

Jojo nodded in response

"Well as you know P stands for "Prestigious". R on the other hand stands for "Ruffians"

What!?

This was one of the most odd things a literal adult will say

Like why would an organization that create weapons call themselves ruffians

"Are you lying master Zeugma?"

"I have been in this village for years. I think I would know if this name is real or not"

During the night, Jojo informed his friends about the whole circumstance

Kate was highly intrigued by his tale

"Wow, I never realized that"

Pen on the other hand was concerned about the fact that Jojo stole an illegal cart

Kate then had a novel idea

"What if tommorow we go to the shipping decks. And maybe somehow get the information we are looking for"

This was a very convincing plan to Jojo

****

The night had elasped, Kate and Jojo made their way to the decks near the outskirts of the village

Pen had baulked at doing such a thing and so did not accompany them

Jojo and Kate hid under the cover of bushes near the shore

"So we wait"

They waited patiently for about an hour. A ship was approaching the shore filled with a lot of different weapons each in a cart

The carts were P carts chiefly; only a slither of the ships weapons was a R cart

The crew on the ship were off loading the carts on to the shore and a posse of strong men carried the weapons to their various locations

But for the small amount of R carts, the men who carried the weapons refused to accept them; in their ideology, they were not authorized to carry a prohibited item

So after off loading the bulk of the weapons, the R carts were left by the sea shore

Everyone had left. All except two

"Come on let's go"

Kate and Jojo started examining the cart; they even trawled through the number of weapons to see anything that was off

But at the end of the day they did not have a single clue why the land had a bias in favour of P carts and not R carts

The real answer was eluding them. But Jojo was still persistent and really wanted to solve the mystery of all this controversy

Usually, something like this would seem too unnessary for a child to care but Jojo just had the kind of curiosity that made them want to get a blow by blow explicit reason for things

If Jojo was ever asked about the people's ideology about the carts, he would say that it was very dumb

***

A few days passed, Jojo still did not have a clue to work with; that was factual

Even though Jojo was still bothered about this, he knew that his investigation could not go on

Out of the blue, he received a letter from a mysterious person

"If you are looking for valid answers to your enquiry, meet me at the market square tomorrow; before noon. And in exchange for my benevolence you will get a R cart for me"
