"What?!"
Parker screamed in horror. The incoming boulder was going to crush him straight into the ground—and turn him into a cripple!
At that critical moment, his body instinctively flipped backward, narrowly avoiding the massive rock. It slammed into the ground with a thunderous crash, gouging out a deep pit.
"That was close… Is this my ability? Amazing! I really am destined to become a superhero—no, a superhero in training!"
Parker looked down at his hands and legs in astonishment. The power that had awakened in his moment of crisis filled him with excitement and disbelief.
He had completely forgotten who he was for a second there.
"What's happening over there?"
Parker squinted into the distance, trying to see what was going on. But aside from the countless pieces of wrecked cars flying through the air, he couldn't make out much.
"Ahhh! Run!""Help! Iron Man, where are you?!""My new sports car—no! I have to drive it away!""Forget the car, you idiot! If that monster grabs you, you're dead!"
Men and women screamed hysterically as they fled in all directions. Many of them were rushing toward Tao Wen's position.
A few stubborn ones tried to turn back, but the moment they saw the terrifying creature, they stumbled and crawled over each other in panic, scrambling to escape.
"What on earth is that thing… a monster? Or a villain?"
Like Parker, Tao Wen couldn't see clearly from this distance. It was simply too far away.But a faint gleam flickered in his eyes. Whatever it was—it would be useful to him.
"Let's go. We're going to take it down."
Tao Wen spoke calmly and strode forward.
"So this is it—my first superhero battle? A fight against a real monster? This is amazing! Spider-Man, you're the best! No—Trainee Spider-Man, you'll be promoted in no time!"
Parker shouted excitedly, following close behind Tao Wen. His heart pounded with both fear and anticipation. He pumped his fists to bolster his courage, though his legs were still trembling.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As they got closer, Tao Wen finally saw what they were dealing with.
It was a massive creature—like a dinosaur from ancient legends—but on closer inspection, it was a gigantic lizard.
Its entire body was green and covered in overlapping scales. Sharp claws gleamed coldly, capable of tearing through steel with ease.
Cars, manholes, guardrails, and streetlights—none of it could withstand even one of its strikes. Each swipe split metal clean in two. One unlucky person was even cleaved in half before they could scream.
"Ahh! Help me! I'll give myself to whoever saves me—ahhh!"
A woman in a luxury sports car shrieked frantically. Her curvaceous figure would have made any man turn his head in ordinary times, but now she looked utterly powerless.
No one came to her aid.
The monster was now less than half a meter away. One more swing of its claws, and she would be split in two—dead beyond doubt.
She screamed again, desperately believing that someone would rush to save her. She was beautiful—men had been drooling over her for ages! Surely someone would be her hero.
But when the creature's claws came within ten centimeters of her, no one appeared. Regret filled her heart.If she had known it would come to this, she would've thrown away her dignity and rolled across the ground to flee.
Bang!
Suddenly, a stone whistled through the air from afar and struck the lizard monster squarely on the head.
It wasn't large, but it hit one of its eyes and exploded into shards, making the creature howl in pain.
"ROAR!!!"
The blow enraged the lizard monster. The claws that were about to fall stopped midair. It turned its huge body and charged straight toward Tao Wen.
"He saved me! That man saved me! He's my hero!"
The woman looked toward Tao Wen with sparkling eyes. She thought he'd been drawn to her beauty—and seeing his calm, confident appearance made her heart flutter even more. He was exactly her ideal man, her destined prince.
"Watch closely. This is how a superhero fights. Consider this your first lesson."
Tao Wen picked up another stone and called out to Parker.
"Yes, sir! I'll provide cover!"
Parker was brimming with excitement.So this was it—the real deal! The monster looked terrifying, but… it was also thrilling!
"So it really is Dr. Lizard. What a coincidence."
Tao Wen narrowed his eyes. Of course he recognized the creature—Dr. Curt Connors.He hadn't expected the transformation to progress so quickly.
Perfect. Time to farm some fragments.
Whoosh!
The stone in his hand flew again, this time aimed at the Lizard's remaining eye.
"ROAR!"
The creature tilted its head, dodging the attack. The stone shattered against its jaw.
"Yes! That's it, ugly beast—come for me!"
Tao Wen grinned and shouted tauntingly.
"ROAR!!!"
The Lizard bellowed furiously and charged at him like an enraged dinosaur.

"Huh? That counts too?"
Tao Wen raised an eyebrow in surprise. Even a roar earned him fragments? The glowing blue shard flowed into his progress bar—1/4.
"Another small piece, huh?"
His eyes gleamed. "Perfect. I'll use this fight to fully materialize my next piece of equipment."
"Oh my god, what's he doing? Doesn't he know that thing is a monster? He's going to die!""He's finished! That creature only attacked because he provoked it!""Who does he think he is—a hero? He's insane! He'll get us all killed!""No! He's a superhero—he's Steelplate Man!""Steelplate Man? You mean that weird one people were mocking? Still, go Steelplate Man!""Steelplate Man! Steelplate Man!!!"
The men and women hiding in nearby buildings shouted in shock—and then in awe—when they realized who Tao Wen was. Their cheers echoed across the streets, swelling into a wave of excitement.
"So this is what it feels like to be a superhero!"
Parker listened to the cheers and shouted with delight.The applause was for Tao Wen, but it felt as though it were for him too. His heart raced with fiery passion.
"One day, I'll be cheered like this too. Spider-Man will shake the world!"
Determination burned in Parker's eyes as he looked at Tao Wen with newfound admiration and gratitude.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Dr. Lizard's massive footsteps thundered closer. He charged like a rampaging dinosaur, his enormous tail lifting high into the air before sweeping down with terrifying force.
The sound alone made the scalp tingle and the heart quiver.
