"Get away!"
Pepper, heels clicking, angrily brushed Tony's hand away.
"Pepper, listen, let me explain. I don't even know the woman who texted me. It's definitely a prank!"
Tony Stark hurried after her, trying to stop Pepper, but as he reached out, she slapped his right hand. Tony's hand stayed suspended in mid-air, looking a little lost.
"I said, get away from me!"
Pepper snapped, turning and striding away.
Just then, a slightly plump figure rushed out of the building.
The person wasn't tall, but they were very strong, stretching the seams of their suit and giving off a strong sense of security.
The person who came was someone Tao Wen was also familiar with: Tony's assistant, driver, bodyguard, brother, and family, Happy.
"Happy, follow her. Don't let her do anything stupid."
Tony said to Happy.
"Okay, mission accepted."
Happy ran off, following Pepper.
"Phew."
Seeing Happy following, Tony immediately breathed a sigh of relief, and at the same time, he covered his head in a slightly annoyed manner. This sudden situation really gave him a headache. He was thinking about what kind of gift to buy to make Pepper forgive him.
"Women are often unreasonable, and they are very eager to get to the bottom of things. When they don't get the answer they want, they will just leave directly. This is the most troublesome thing." Tony was about to go back and deal with that text message when a voice suddenly came.
"Yeah, women are definitely a pain. Wait, who are you?"
Tony replied instinctively, but as soon as the words left his mouth, he looked at Tao Wen with a wary expression.
"Mr. Stark, I'm the new security guard. You can call me Tao, or Tao Wen."
Tao Wen grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth.
"Tao?"
Tony eyed Tao Wen suspiciously. Although Tao Wen was wearing a security uniform, Tony didn't recognize him, so he was clearly a newcomer.
"Perfect, I have something in my office that needs to be moved. Come and give me a hand."
Tony said to Tao Wen and walked towards his office.
"Alright, Mr. Stark, happy to be of service."
Tao Wen followed Tony into the house with a smile. As he stepped inside, a data prompt appeared before his eyes: Fragment +1.
This is a good sign. I've already gotten into Stark's house, perfect for farming some fragments.
Seeing the data that appeared, Tao Wen's eyes lit up. He quickened his pace, and Stark, walking in front of him, was no longer just Iron Man, but a fragment machine!
"As expected of a rich man, this house is built magnificently."
Walking through the house, Tao Wen couldn't help but marvel inwardly. Forget the decorations; the high-end equipment alone was already dazzling. He thought to himself, When I have money, I'll get a setup like this too. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s salary is limited; I need to find other avenues.
"It's this one. Help me take it to the first floor."
After reaching the second-floor office, Tony pointed to a red box. The box certainly looked heavy.
"Alright."
Tao Wen walked forward and reached for the box.
"Huh?"
As he reached for it, Tao Wen gave a slight surprised sound. The box wasn't heavy, in fact, it was very light, only weighing a few pounds. This made him very puzzled. Stark, who often exercised, shouldn't have trouble lifting it.
Click.
At that moment, a mechanical sound came from behind.
"Speak, who exactly are you?"
Tony held a gun, aiming it at Tao Wen, and said coldly.
"Mr. Stark, you've got the wrong idea. I'm really just a security guard. I'm registered," Tao Wen said, looking at Tony with a hint of panic.
"I've reviewed your information. You are indeed a security guard for the group, but you've only been on the job for ten minutes. How could you just happen to be in my work area? And strike up a conversation with me? Clearly, you planned this."
Tony stared coldly at Tao Wen, his finger resting on the trigger. "You can refuse to talk, but I'll make you talk."
"Easy there. I'll just come clean. I'm an agent sent by S.H.I.E.L.D. to recruit you."
Tao Wen shrugged and reached inside his security uniform, opening his chest badge to reveal the S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia.
"I've said before, I'm not interested in you people from S.H.I.E.L.D. Don't bother me," Tony said, his expression displeased, his gaze toward Tao Wen turning icy.
"Leave, don't stay here, you're not welcome."
Tony put down his weapon, then opened the office door, and issued an eviction order.
"Are you sure you want to kick me out? You won't regret it?" Tao Wen blinked, and said.
"Yes, go away!"
Tony said impatiently, his face showing a strong look of disgust.
"I have a lot of useful information here. A terrorist is preparing to attack you, it should be soon. Also, don't you want to know what substance can replace your palladium? And the specific cause of your father's death. If you want to know, come to S.H.I.E.L.D. to find me."
Tao Wen smiled and waved his hand, walking toward the door.
"Terrorist, palladium, the specific cause of my father's death?"
Tony's gaze was fixed on Tao Wen's back, a slight doubt forming in his mind. How did Tao Wen know so much? He couldn't help but wonder, as his own father had died in a car accident years ago.
Could there be more to it?
Tony called out, "Jarvis."
Ding.
With a sound, Jarvis activated.
"Check the identity of that man just now, and also those who joined with him," Tony instructed.
"Please wait," Jarvis replied.
Jarvis began searching.
Within a minute, Jarvis had finished his search and transmitted the data to Tony.
"Tao Wen, Chinese, and then there's Natasha Portman."
Tony quietly looked at the information, murmuring softly.
"I lost out, really lost out. If I'd known, I wouldn't have wandered around here. If I'd stayed longer, I could have farmed more fragments."
Tao Wen, having left the house, couldn't help but mutter to himself. He looked up at the blazing sun. "Now I can only hope Tony figures things out quickly, then comes to find me, and then I can farm fragments properly."
Thinking this, he started walking towards the gate.
"But this is also very good; I don't want to be a security guard here for too long."
Tao Wen scanned his surroundings, taking in the stiffly standing security guards being bossed around. He walked over to his Harley, revving the engine. The roar echoed, drawing attention from all around.
As he slowly rode, he paused at the gate. He didn't wait long before Natasha, in her white shirt, strode over. However, she lacked her usual sharpness. Instead, her beautiful eyes blazed with fury. The swift failure of this mission had ignited a fire within her that could consume the world.
"Beautiful, want a ride?"
Tao Wen chuckled, whistling at Natasha.
