Breathing ragged, Roger timed it carefully—when the Female Titan's foot came down, he would spring away.
But before he could move, a rough voice halted her step.
"Did you find him?"
It was the Beast Titan, Ksaver. He had seen her movements and hurried over.
The Female Titan shook her head, lowering the foot she'd been about to crush him with, staring at the ground.
"He should be here…"
Ksaver crouched, long fingers sifting among the bodies. Unlike her, he didn't stomp them into pulp—he lifted each corpse gently, checking.
"They're Marleyan soldiers, Boi. If you grind them all into paste, the army and their families will make you answer for it."
She sneered.
"We're already as good as dead. Better paranoid than gutted when one of these corpses suddenly springs up, stabs your eyes, cuts your tendons, and digs you out before you react."
Ksaver chuckled at her grim warning.
"The Beast Titan doesn't fight much up close. I only throw rocks. No one could do all that in one heartbeat."
He smiled, still plucking bodies one by one.
She ignored him, pressing down with her heel, crushing corpses flat.
Roger held his breath.
Because Ksaver's massive hand was closing around him.
He'd smeared himself in blood, buried his face, clutched a knife in his sleeve—playing dead.
The Beast Titan lifted him.
But then—Ksaver stiffened.
"What's this… he's alive?"
He felt it—heartbeat, warmth. Not a corpse.
The Female Titan snapped her guard up, arms raised.
And Roger moved.
He leapt from the Titan's grip, knife flashing.
"Die!!"
He drove the blade for the Beast Titan's eye.
"AHHH!" Ksaver reeled back, one eye bursting in steam as Roger struck.
The Beast Titan roared, clawing for him.
But Roger dropped fast, slashing his Achilles tendon—blood spraying, though not enough to topple him.
"Too short…" Roger hissed at the knife, steaming with Titan blood.
Then—wind howled.
"Shit!"
He rolled as the Female Titan's kick split the earth where he'd been. Dust and stone filled the air.
Even stunned, he was hurled aside, ribs cracking under the impact.
She lunged after him.
"So quick to dodge… truly the strongest of this class," she thought.
Roger lay on his back, steam rising from his broken body. The Jaw Titan's power worked, but pain seared every nerve.
He forced himself up, running, clutching his knife.
But she was faster. She pounced, closing her hand around him before he could cut himself to transform.
"AAAHH!"
Her fingers crushed his hands, joints snapping, knife falling from his grip.
"Don't kill him!"
Ksaver shouted, one eye steaming back into place. He ran closer, elated.
Because in Roger he saw something—a theory of his about Titans. If true, Marley's dominance would never be shaken, not for a thousand years.
But—
"Boi, you think this will save Marley? You think… you can kill me?!"
Roger roared, glaring at the Female Titan, then bit off his own tongue.
BOOM!!
Golden light burst from his orifices.
Through the Paths, the Jaw Titan's flesh and power surged into him, his body exploding outwards. The Titan's growth tore her fist apart from within.
"ROOOOAAARRR!!"
The new Jaw Titan was born.
Claws ripped her arm open. Roger dashed forward, fangs clamping her shoulder, severing it before lunging for her nape.
"Boi! Bend down!"
Ksaver was ready. He already held a stone.
With perfect aim, he hurled it.
CRACK!
The new Jaw Titan's skull shattered as it lunged for her neck.
