Chapter 1 - Prologue

Whenever a death occured no one cared due to the nature of this dark mysterious world.

Peoples lifes were ruined.

Continents were destroyed.

And Loved ones Perished.

That was the Cataclysm that chases people down into this rabbit hole called Chasm trapping them underground without any means of escaping.

There were multiple ruined cities and buildings making it a good place to live in.

It was pretty peacefull there but the humans didn't last long with more than 99% dying to the cataclysm.

The food was scarce and they fought beetween themself over supples until a few wondering souls found some weird gates.

Pushing them open a whole new world was opened for them, beautifull paradise filled with delicious food, clear water and places seeming like they were taken out of a canvas.

The greed they felt after discovering it couldn't be quenched as they went deeper and deeper underground feeling their strenght increasing like some sort of magic and being able to cast various spells.

That was until the Three first tragedies happened.

After living in these beautifull lands people noticed that the food was dissapearing even without them eating it, they ignored it at the beggining but after a few weeks it felt like that was done on purpose by someone, or something.

The bodies were discovered on stakes around the forest like some sort of sick totems to scare off anyone who dared to come closer, people exploring the phenomenome felt true fear for the first time as humanoid creatures wearing weird wooden masks that hid their glowing eyes behind them appeared.

They posseses inhuman strenght and played with humans like simple toys killing them and making decorations out of their remains even going as far as skinning their bodies and wearing them like clothes.

People understanding their strenght did the first thing that came to their minds which was...

Used guns!

The monsters were dying to them albeit slightly slower compared to normal humans and they were pushed back.

People lost over thirty million during this.

The second tragedy was the worst as people suddenly started to transform into similar abominations to the masked monsters, they were losing their sense of self and killing others while a miniscule part could retain their rationality and partly transformed into one having weird limbs or a mask that covered parts of their face as if it was natural flesh.

Finally figuring out the problem everyone headed up towards the first floors and being saved from the 'corruption'.

The cause was the weird force that made them stronger which they soon gave a name of Terra Flux.

Humans used this as an oportunity to study carefully this weird force losing fifty million to the corruption.

Finally the third tragedy was the mildest and most painfull one.

People who could use magic seemes to be way weaker having the ability to absorb Terra Flux easier but the biggest problem was that when they absorbed too much of it their bodies would expand slowly and explode into pieces making them living bombs and killing over nine million people leaving inly about a million left.

It was really hard to adapt to this new life but people as a adaptable creatures somehow managed and slowly started to grow in population over the years rebuilding the cities and making new government aswell as regressing toward the middle ages using swords made out of corpses of the fallen monsters and newly discovered materials.

Now during the year 2562

A 17 year old, brown haired boy with hazel eyes has finally made everything ready for the celebration.

Vlad sat by himself at the table staring at the clock in front of him waiting for his parents so that they could come and spend new years eve with him in an empty room with the food and cake prepared.

'They said that it should be done begore dinner so whats taking them so long-'

*Knock*

His body suddenly jumped up as he ran towards the door and opening it with excitement just to see his uncle standing in the doorway with a small wrapped gift in his hands and a usual cigarette beetween his fingers-

*Puff*

The smoke went straight into my face making me unable to see for a second which was just enough for him to enter the house.

- You got a whole feast here huh?

- It's not for you.

- I get it, here.

He pulled out a small letter from his pocket and handed it to me which i accepted reluctantly and put in my pocket, he the took a small piece of meat from my prepared food and laid down the gift before leaving the house and waving his hand back at me.

- Happy new year kid.

The doors closed behind him and i looked at it for a moment while sitting down back on the couch and waiting for my parents to come home.

'Might aswell check what it is'

Having nothing better to do i pulled out the letter he gave me and was slightly surprised because the person it was written to was me and not my parents.

'Who could it be'

Carefully opening it and pulling out a piece of paper some Cruxes fell onto the floor and i immediately knew who it was.

'So the pocket money will be my only gift again'

Opening the letter i carefully examined it to see if it was my father or mother that wrote it but i still couldn't figure out the difference beetween their writing.

'Vlad, we are very sorry that you have to stay alone again on the christmass eve, we needed to suddenly go and help out a group of mercenaries due to our debt for the help from the King Slayer, i hope you understand our situation and know that we really wanted to spend time with you this year we wish you the best.

Love you, Dad.'

- I see.

Crumpling the paper i carefully burned it down under the candles from the cake and sat staring at it thinking about what to wish for as it was also my birthday.

It didn't take long as i blew all the candles and stared at the dissapearing smoke.

'I hope you both go to hell'

The night was incredibly cold for me today as i ate whatever i could and put the rest into the special magic containers called fridge which was powered by special ice crystals from the 4th section.

I unpacked the gift my uncle brought me and found it to be a pair of expensive ceremonial clothing.

'I probably would wear it on gatherings or something'

Cleaning everything i looked back at the closed door that shattered all my lingering hopes for this day and went to sleep dreaming like always, escaping from the loneliness with my made up parents

who atleast bothered to show up in my dreams once in a while.

I could only wish it was real.
