Chapter 219: What a Foolish Disciple
"I'm starving!!!"
Komamura knelt on the ground, arms braced at his sides, struggling to endure the roaring Reiatsu.
Just as he thought he would be crushed by the pressure, the terrifying force suddenly vanished.
Satoru straddled his neck and patted him lightly.
"Good doggie, be obedient and don't bite."
Before his transmigration, he had watched dog trainers share tips on taming aggressive dogs.
When dealing with a fierce dog, you must strike forcefully and suppress it completely.
Only by making the dog understand who's in charge can you pave the way for a friendly relationship later.
Sure enough, after the Reiatsu shockwave, Komamura clearly became more subdued.
As Satoru smoothed his fur, he inquired about his breed and coat color.
Meanwhile, Yamamoto narrowed his eyes slightly, watching with keen interest.
When Satoru released his Reiatsu earlier, Komamura instinctively unleashed his own in an attempt to resist.
In that instant, the quality and intensity of his Reiatsu were quite impressive.
With Yamamoto's discerning eye, he could tell at a glance that this large dog had never received any training and had only instinctively grasped the use of Reiatsu.
He was promising material.
With a bit of training, he could become highly useful.
Legend had it that the wolf-man clan followed ancestral teachings, hiding deep in the mountains and avoiding the world.
But once they emerged, they became symbols of loyalty, courage, and righteousness.
This large dog might one day become a strong right-hand man for the boy.
Just as Satoru was tormenting Komamura with his words, Yamamoto cleared his throat.
Satoru stiffened, quickly jumped off the dog, and stood at attention.
Yamamoto approached Komamura and looked up at him.
"Last descendant of the wolf-man clan, what is your name?"
Komamura's eyes were full of wariness, and he did not answer.
"Doggo, the teacher is asking you a question," Satoru reminded him.
Hearing this, Komamura murmured softly, "Komamura… Komamura Sajin."
"Komamura Sajin, are you willing to join the Gotei 13 and become a Shinigami?"
"What?"
Hearing Yamamoto's words, Komamura's eyes widened.
The Gotei 13, Shinigami… he knew of them.
The highest authority of force in the Soul Society, the ultimate aspiration of all souls.
With his appearance, was he truly qualified to join?
He instinctively asked, "Can you make such a decision, sir?"
Yamamoto nodded. "Yes."
Satoru snorted. "The teacher is the Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, the invincible Genryūsai. What do you think?"
Cap… Captain-Commander?!
Komamura's mind exploded with fireworks.
Yamamoto said calmly, "Then, from this day forward, Komamura Sajin, you shall join the Gotei 13 as the direct subordinate of this boy… Satoru."
"Satoru, you are responsible for properly training and guiding Komamura, helping him quickly adapt to the duties of a Shinigami."
"Oh…"
Satoru scratched his head.
He wasn't particularly interested in tasks like teaching others.
But then it occurred to him—he could just dump it on Sōsuke. Well, that settled it.
What if Aizen refused?
Then he'd dump it on Kisuke!
What if Kisuke refused?
"Bone-crushing punishment awaits!"
After finalizing his plan, Satoru grinned widely and looked at Komamura.
"Excellent, doggy. Starting today, you shall join my Second Division..."
"Wait."
Yamamoto abruptly interrupted him.
"Boy, do you think you can casually overlook all the mistakes you've made?"
Satoru let out a sigh and turned around.
Under Yamamoto's gaze, he gritted his teeth and pulled off his upper garments.
"Come on, teacher! Don't go easy on me!"
"A severed head just leaves a bowl-sized scar—in a hundred years I'll be reborn a hero!"
Observing his posture, Yamamoto sneered coldly.
"Physical punishment ceased being effective discipline for you long ago."
"As penalty for your unauthorized actions, I'm ordering you to undertake a special mission."
A bad premonition rose in Satoru's heart.
Sure enough, under his watchful eyes, Yamamoto drew a document from his robe and tossed it toward him.
Satoru caught it mid-air and unfolded it.
Three bold characters headed the document:
Letter of Appointment.
"Since Captain Chōjirō stepped down, the Eleventh Division has descended into chaos."
"Effective immediately, you are appointed Acting Captain of the Eleventh Division!"
"Before the next Kenpachi is selected, you must resolve all issues within the Eleventh Division with utmost speed."
"Within one month, I want to see an Eleventh Division free from chaos and restored to order!"
"If you can't do it, go train under the waterfall for a hundred years!"
Satoru scratched his head.
Then he nodded and said, "Alright, I understand."
Seeing him so compliant, Yamamoto was a bit surprised.
The old man narrowed his eyes. "Brat, what are you scheming?"
Satoru chuckled. "Scheming? I know you're doing this for my own good."
"Trespassing into Hueco Mundo, contacting Tsunayashiro Senzaemon, and even making deals with Hollows."
"Any one of these would be a troublesome crime."
"To settle things at such a small cost, what reason do I have to complain?"
Hearing this, Yamamoto scrutinized him suspiciously.
The old man vaguely nodded and grunted in acknowledgment.
"As long as you understand."
Watching Satoru leave with Komamura, Yamamoto felt somewhat emotional.
This foolish disciple of his... sometimes his stupidity was truly heartbreaking.
Leaving the Soul Society without permission and going to Hueco Mundo would indeed be a serious crime for an ordinary member.
But Satoru was different—he was already a noble. A small matter like this could easily be resolved with minimal effort.
With these emotions, Yamamoto's figure flickered and disappeared into the air.
...
...
Just after returning to the Second Division, Satoru ran into Aizen who seemed to appear out of nowhere.
Seeing that Satoru was fine, Aizen breathed a slight sigh of relief.
He wanted to say something, but when he noticed Komamura following Satoru, he cast a questioning look.
By now, Komamura had already rewrapped his face with cloth strips, making his features indistinguishable.
Satoru called over a squad member to take Komamura to change into a Shinigami Uniform and get an Asauchi.
While waiting for Komamura, he recounted his conversation with Yamamoto.
After listening, Aizen nodded.
"Acting captain of the Eleventh Division? This position is quite beneficial for you. Securing it is a good thing."
"However, if you really don't want to do it, there's no need to force yourself."
"You're a noble now with significant privileges. Even the Captain-Commander can't force you to do anything."
Hearing this, Satoru grinned. "I know."
"Hmm?"
Aizen was slightly taken aback.
He had thought his friend accepted the assignment because he'd forgotten about his noble status.
Satoru's "I know" surprised him somewhat.
Under Aizen's gaze, Satoru smiled and said:
"Of course I know I could use my noble status to avoid this matter."
"I just pretended to have forgotten. When I accepted the assignment, the old man seemed really happy."
"It's rare to see him so pleased, so I'll let him enjoy it a bit longer."
Looking at Satoru, after a brief moment of surprise, Aizen's eyes showed emotional understanding.
With such a foolish disciple, even if he were Yamamoto, he'd probably find it hard to be too harsh...
