Chapter 15 - Trapped

After a couple of hours of rest with little to no interruptions, Azrael stood up and got ready to leave.

"Ok, Liv, it's time to go. We have nine more floors to go before the next boss."

Hearing his voice, Olivia finally opened her eyes, looking at him with an expression of resoluteness.

"Ok, let's get going then," she said while rising to her feet beside Azreal. Taking her sword from within her shadow, she turned to him and asked,

"Are you ready? Because unlike last time with the wolves, this time we have nine whole floors to go before we fight the boss, which means endless hordes of spiders."

"Not to mention they have venom. One bite and I am done. Well, that is if I didn't have you here. I guess you're more useful than I thought."

"How dare you? If anything, you're the one who is useless," she said, hitting him over his head and walking away.

"Well, what's the worst that could happen? We'll be fine," he said with as much confidence as he could muster as he ran to catch up with her.

He couldn't be more wrong

After four floors of killing countless spiders, the two found themselves in the most dangerous situation.

They were stuck in a web, a trap set by one of the spiders they had killed.

"Of course when I follow you, we end up stuck in a trap," she said as her pink eyes settled on him stuck in the web a few inches away from her; even though her words were laced with harsh accusations, her eyes told a completely different story—they had a look of playfulness in them, like her getting stuck was of no significance at all.

He completely ignored her, instead choosing to try to get out of the death web made of the most beautiful light blue silk imaginable that was trapping them.

But the more he moved, the more the web rippled, sending waves of vibrations through the web and all those that were connected to it.

"You know that won't do anything; these webs are stronger than normal steel. I don't think you are strong enough to break free."

"Then what do you suggest, then?" he replied, turning to look into her pink eyes with his wild amber eyes.

Simple, I am going to be… But before she could complete her sentence, they felt the web start to shake.

Looking ahead, they saw at least 40 spiders rushing at them. Their mouths watering with blue venom, their six eyes looked all over the web until they locked on to Azrael and Olivia.

Their long gray legs slapped against the snow as they hurried to reach their prey so that they could finally fill their stomachs with their prey's delicious meat.

Fireball!!

All of a sudden the temperature in the surrounding area got much hotter as a ball made entirely of orange flame appeared in front of Olivia

"You could do that this whole time? Why didn't you? Why didn't you? I would have saved us so much time."

"One, even though I have a fire affinity, it's extremely weak, so it drains my mana fast for little things I can do with it, so it's not worth using."

and two, I like to seeing your reactions to things" she said with a beautiful smile on her face while sending the fire to burn the webs holding both of them

Falling to the ground they both got ready to face the hourd of spiders coming at them from all directions

Kicking off the snow they started running towards the spiders why wait for danger when you can run head first in right.

Arriving before the spiders Olivia swung her sword cutting off the head of three spiders at a time showing no mercy she continued to do the same thing with the rest as well

Sometimes she would cut their head off, others she would try and poison them but no matter what method she picked one thing was for sure they all died

Azreal wasn't much better, on, he was far worse

He wasn't just cutting them them down into two or three parts no he was diecing them up into ten or more pieces sometimes he would use his spear but others

He applied more gravity to one of the spiders letting it fall in to the snow, then approaching it taking hold of one of its legs only to rip it out from the spiders body

Then using that very same leg to Pierce the spiders all over its body and attacking others in the area until I broke where he would then go right back to using his spear like nothing happened

It continued like this for a while because it was like the more spiders they killed the more came

That's when Azreal remembered his spear was made for fighting these mana beasts swinging the spear the bell at the end started to ring as the two spiders in front of him. Stopped right in there eyes hollow like they where trying to remember what they were supposed to be doing

But before they even got that chance their heads were separated from their bodies

Starting to ring the bell more and more, more and more spiders stopped in there tracks

And more heads flew in the air with their blood following

But Olivia wasn't ideal ether she too was quickly stacking up a mountain of bodies as she moved in between spiders

poisoning them, paralyzing them, cutting their heads off their legs off.

Each time she moved, blood followed, dying in the snow a crimson red.

And their effort quickly showed fruit as the spider started to diminish, leaving them with nothing but mountains of bodies in the Crimson snow that stunk of putrid poison and venom.

to not be trapped in any more webs. They decided to set all the webs on fire along with all the spiders bodies.
