The Falthrien Academy was located in southwestern part of Sunstrider Isle, which hadn't yet been destroyed by the Scourge, and Leylin was fortunate to witness its beauty.
As he walked through the commercial streets, many elves gave Leylin strange looks. Seeing a human in the elven kingdom was truly a novelty.
The place where his younger sister took archery lessons wasn't far from where Leylin was, about a hundred meters away.
After saying goodbye, Leylin went inside the academy.
Specializing in fire magic, Leylin was assigned by Belo'vir to the Fire Mage class.
Unlike human classrooms, the elven magic classrooms were filled with a variety of instruments and magic matrices. The surrounding bookshelves were filled with a variety of magic books. The instructor had no fixed seat; he could stand anywhere in the classroom.
The students were highly motivated, with countless questions in the classroom. Since there were only twelve students, the instructor was able to address them one by one.
The instructor was named Quithas, an outstanding mage instructor.
After a brief introduction for Leylin last night, the fire mage class quickly warmed to this young human. As fellow students of fire magic, none of the mages challenged Leylin; instead, most were enthusiastic.
The first class was devoted to [Blazing Barrier], a unique magical talent. Quithas didn't force the students to learn it; they were free to experiment and learn, as none of the instructors had mastered this talent.
Within a mage's training, there's no upper limit to the number of spells one can learn. However, there are limits to the types of spell talents and spell masteries.
Most mages can only learn one talent and one mastery, while only a few can master multiple talents and masteries. Such mages are often given another title: Grand Magister!
Using the shimmer of a magic crystal, Quithas used magical light and shadow to replicate an image of Magister Rommath using the Scorch talent and projected it for the students.
Only Rommath, the elf, could be seen in the shadows, while another elven mage cast a high-level [Pyroblast] at him.
Without a spell shield, resisting [Pyroblast] would be certain death.
However, relying on [Blazing Barrier], a layer of faint magical flames, Rommath miraculously absorbed the power of high-level [Pyroblast] into layers of a shield out of fire.
This was showing how a proficient [Blazing Barrier] could do! The students exclaimed in amazement, including Leylin.
After the magic crystal ended, Quithas waved his hand and summoned twelve magic books from the bookshelf. Using [Slow Fall], each book landed safely in the hands of a student.
"This [Blazing Barrier] spell talent isn't required, but if you're interested, you can study it on your own. It's perfectly suited for the advancement of fire mages like us," Quithas said.
"Today's class will focus on familiarizing yourself with the contents of this [Blazing Barrier] talent. Of course, if you don't understand anything, don't ask me; I don't understand it either," Quithas said with a smile.
This instructor was truly fascinating. In his previous world, few teachers would admit their knowledge gaps in class.
Leylin leaned against a bookshelf and opened a book about the [Blazing Barrier] talent. Slowly turning the pages, Leylin fell into deep thought.
The magical knowledge stored within the book was quickly comprehended by Leylin and even thought on how to improve it even further. Mastering this kind of magic talent is easy if the user's comprehension is high and wasn't about one's own magical attainments.
Even a low-level mage could master it if they understood its magic principles and the theories behind it.
Leylin did not hesitate to learn it because he thinks the more spells you have the better. Even if you don't use it often, it's better to stack more knowledge on spells than not bothering learning it. Who knows it might be useful in certain situations.
Now, as for mastering it even more Leylin didn't doubt the rewards he received from the system. Since the purpose of the system is helping Leylin even become more stronger than he currently is.
"Unlimited potential?" Leylin thought excitedly.
Without hesitation, Leylin threw himself wholeheartedly into studying the [Blazing Barrier] spell talent. After learning it his eyes felt slightly dry from studying so intently, and he paused to rub them.
This movement was noticed by a female elven mage, who slowly approached Leylin's side.
"Excuse me, may I interrupt you for a moment?" the mage asked politely.
Leylin, wanting a rest, closed his books and placed them on the lab table next to the astrolabe.
"Of course," Leylin nodded.
"Hello, I'm Julia Sunstriker," the mage introduced herself. Just as she was about to speak, she smiled and said, "You just introduced yourself. I remember it clearly. Leylin."
Leylin touched the bridge of his nose and said awkwardly, "Really? I was nervous and forgot."
"I saw you studying so intently just now. Is it because you want to learn [Blazing Barrier]? I heard that this spell talent is very difficult to learn."
"I sense it, but I have no idea. But I'll give it a try," Leylin lied while glancing at the books on the lab table.
After a few seconds of silence, Julia spoke up, "You're a new mage, right? It might be a bit rude, but I'd like to see your magical skills."
Magical skills? How can you tell? Leylin's eyes widened, bewildered.
"I'm not sure, but you can tell me what to do." Leylin's question suddenly reached a dead end, and he could only stare helplessly at the towering wall.
"Just like this, create a magic ball."
Julia spread her fair hands, and two round, flaming magic balls appeared in her palms.
"I'm a low-level mage and can only create two magic balls. If I can create four magic balls, I'll be a mid-level mage," Julia explained.
After reviewing the entire process of Julia's spellcasting, Leylin's thoughts were about being lowkey so he began to slowly replicate the process. It was simple: he just had to call upon the magical energy in his body and make it appear in his palm.
Leylin spread out his left hand and concentrated the magical energy.
The surrounding magical energy continuously supplied Leylin with energy, and soon, a flaming magic ball was born on his left hand.
Julia was surprised that a newly minted magician could create a magic ball.
In addition to being surprised, Julia was shocked.
Another magic ball formed on top of the magic ball in Leylin's left hand. Two magic balls, full of luster and heat, were no less than Julia's.
"That's right, isn't it?"
The whole class fell silent. Leylin looked around the class, and all the students were staring at him.
"Uh, what happened?" Leylin asked, retracting the magic ball in his hand.
Quithas walked over and smiled faintly at the two: "Not bad, Julia will have a rival in the future."
