I stared into the night sea, spear in hand. The waves were raging. A storm was coming.
For months the people of this island have been plagued by attacks by a kraken.
Fish became scarce since the krakens' arrival. And boats haven't been able to travel to other islands for supplies. This town was a shell of its former self.
Shame, about 50 years ago this town had some of the best fish dishes I've ever tasted.
"It wasn't always like this, you know." Said a soft gentle voice.
I turned my head and it was a girl. She had diamond blue eyes that shined like gems. Her hair was golden like honey and skin as smooth and white like milk. She wore a simple blue dress with white sandals and a pendant shaped like a trident. A silver circlet sat on her head.
She gave me a warm smile.
"Sorry I didn't mean to sneak up on you. I just saw you here by the harbor and figure—"
"You shouldn't be here you know. A kraken is lurking about." I cut her off before she could finish her sentence.
She walked over by the edge of the docks and joined me as I stared into the night sea.
"Poseidon will protect me." She said as she held her trident pendant in her hand. A smile still on her face.
"Poseidon, huh? Didn't he let this happen in the first place?" I said in a plain tone.
Her smile faded.
"He must have his reasons. Gods are always testing us mortals. When this ordeal is over, we will grow stronger from it."
"Or it can be that the gods are just assholes."
"Stop that blasphemy!" Her sweet soft voice was now loud.
I let out a soft chuckle
It's funny, the same god that is causing her and her town so much suffering is the one she defends.
Ripples suddenly started forming on the water.
"You should probably leave now." I said
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell but you were the asshole first…to be fair."
"I don't care about that, you're going to get in my way."
"What are y—" before she could finish her sentence, long pink slimey tentacles shot out of the water and wrapped around her body, entrapping her.
It pulled her into the sea with great speed.
Why didn't she just listen to me? Well that's that I guess.
I got up and began walking away but another one of the tentacles shot out of the water and was coming towards me.
Quickly I used my spear and pierced it. Purplish blood began dripping from the wound.
A loud screech filled the silence. And seven more tentacles came out of the water, bashing against the surface of the sea.
"AAAAHHH" that girl was yelling, she was still in the grasp of the kraken.
And to think just five minutes ago, I was having a nice quiet night.
I saw the top of the krakens pointy head,it began emerging from the water.
"HELP ME!" The girl shouted at me from the air.
"Shouldn't Poseidon be protecting you?" I said with a slightly smug expression.
"FUCK YOU!"
I smiled at that soft voice using such profanity.
The kraken peeked its eye out of the water. It was now my chance.
With great force I launched my spear at the kraken. A blue energy began emitting from the spear as it approached the kraken.
BOOM! There was now a huge hole where the krakens eye was.
The krakens grip on the girl loosen up and she began to fall.
I whistled and from the sky a great stallion with wings appeared. It saved the girl from falling into the sea and brought her to me.
She began coughing up water.
"What jus— the kraken wa— I was here an—" She struggled to put a sentence together.
"Who are you?" She finally got out.
