Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 The Fate's Fooling

Pedro the goblin took a deep drag from the hose, then exhaled into the air.

Thick smoke drifted in the air.

Then, ripples formed in his vision again, and his eyes seemed to grow immensely larger.

His gaze fixed on the snake, and the smoke in the air began to shift.

[The snake lifted its eyes from its scarred scales and peered through the iron cage. It was a laboratory, its surroundings blurry. Snape paced back and forth in front of the cage.

He paused, then turned to stare at the snake. He pulled up his sleeve, revealing the Dark Lord's mark on his arm. He seemed relieved, yet a little hesitant. He looked puzzled.]

  ...

  The scene flashed forward again.

[A young wizard waved his wand, "Shatter to pieces!"

The curse exploded at the snake, causing it to twitch and scream wildly. Its head flickered into a woman's, then vanished in an instant.

The young man said triumphantly to a wizard in a golden leather jacket, "Well, I wasn't kidding you, was I? This will definitely fetch a good price."

"I've experimented countless times, and the time it takes for it to transform into a woman's head is getting shorter and shorter. If I don't sell it now, I might never see this extraordinary spectacle again. That would be such a loss..."

  ...

"Mother!" Anna exclaimed, looking at the human face on the snake's head. This snake was truly her mother!

Listening to the young man's words, she could imagine the torture he had endured!

Anton had used countless potions to revive her.

The scene began to reverse, showing the young man torturing his mother over and over again, all the way from London, England, to the forests of Albania.

  "No!" Anna watched, sobbing.

  ...

  The scene shifted forward again.

[A dark shadow flashed through the jungle. The large snake fled in panic, finally landing in a snuff bottle enchanted with a one-way, traceless extension charm. It seemed she could never escape.] A few days later, the young man passed by and picked it up. "What is this?"

  The scene shifted forward again.

  ...

The snake continued to wander through dark corners around the world, finally arriving in the forests of Albania.

  ...

  The scene shifted forward again.

A very familiar scene appeared before everyone.

It was the garden outside the castle, but unlike the garden outside the window now, this one contained a grave. The entire castle and garden seemed enveloped in a thick, black fog.

Rosier stood in front of the grave, holding Anna's hand. He looked sadly at the smiling face in the photo on the tombstone. "Nana, I'm sorry I can't be here with you. I've already lost you, and I can't lose Anna again."

"The blood curse is hereditary. I must find a way to break it."

"Wait for me, Nana. Once I heal our Anna, I'll come down to be with you."

  "It'll be quick."

He gazed deeply at the photo on the tombstone and teleported away with Anna.

Shortly after he left, a snake emerged from the grave. It swiftly shifted between human and snake, crushing the surrounding flowers.

Finally, she completely transformed into a snake, her vertical pupils holding only the coldness of a wild animal.

The serpent slithered and swam off into the distance, its head constantly transforming into a human head. "Father, please come back soon

  !

Mother isn't dead! Please come back soon!" Anna cried anxiously.

But she knew her father certainly hadn't noticed, and even for the next thirty-eight years, he hadn't returned to this heartbreaking place.

Perhaps if he returned, he would bury himself there to accompany his mother.

Anna's precocious mind could understand this emotion. She had merely slept a long sleep in the ice, while her father had been tormented by the pain of losing his wife for thirty-eight years.

The scene in the air dissipated.

Anna stared at the goblin Pedro in astonishment.

There was sadness in Pedro's eyes, "Yes, she is Nagini, Nagini who has completely turned into a snake."

"I know!" Anna frowned, "But why did you stop? Keep going, your mother was not killed by a snake, she is the snake!"

Even though the little girl was angry, she seemed very well-educated. She did not yell hysterically, but her face was full of anger, "My father lied to me, my mother was not killed by a snake at all, I want to know..."

Pedro shook his head and interrupted her, "Adults lie, sometimes to protect you, child, I can't let you see the scene of your mother's death, that would be too cruel for you, this memory will become an indelible scar in your life."

  "No!"

Anna was very firm, "I want to know everything!"

"I'm still young, I still have time, I will develop a more powerful time converter, I will completely pull my mother back from the long river of time, I will save her, sooner or later!"

Pedro hesitated, but still frowned. Hundreds of years of experience made him have a very bad premonition about the next scene.

Seeing him waver, Anna hurried over, her small hands firmly grasping the hem of his suit. "Please."

Oh, God, Pedro couldn't bear this.

  "But..."

Just then, Anton's voice rang out.

He was clearly in pain, holding onto the table to prevent himself from falling.

"I must warn you, Mr. Pedro, that the 'Wizard's Eye' potion is very taxing for me."

He pointed to a pattern illuminating in the air beside him. "Your 'Fairy Eye' secret is incredibly complex. I've barely recorded it. If you don't continue quickly, I might collapse!"

Pedro stared at the light and shadow pattern in astonishment. It was a complex pattern composed of countless lines, blocks of color, and dark green, thread-like cracks.

Moreover, the pattern was three-dimensional. The interweaving of these three patterns made it seem even more complex than the magical mechanism of the time-turner. "What is this?"

"Haha," the old wizard chuckled smugly. "This is what a 'wizard's eye' sees, foolish teacher."

He floated in front of the pattern and tutted his tongue. "What a shame! As a ghost, I can no longer understand anything I haven't learned before. What a pity."

Pedro the goblin finally agreed. He sighed at Anna and took another inhale from the hookah skull.

  Huh~~

  The memory resurfaced.

It was a quiet night, thick clouds obscuring the moonlight. A faint floral scent lingered in the air, and the wind rustled the wind chimes.

Little Anna rubbed her eyes and scrambled to her feet, dazed. "Mother? Where are you, Mother?"

She searched everywhere, unable to find her, and began to panic.

Finally, she reached the farthest corner of the garden, a rocky area, and saw her mother curled up on the ground.

  "Mother, what's wrong with you?"

Her mother was clearly in pain, struggling and twitching on the ground, her eyes blank, her face filled with despair. "André, come back soon! Don't go looking for Pedro anymore! Come back soon!"

Little Anna rushed over anxiously. Halfway there, she saw her mother begin to transform dramatically.

She transformed into a massive twelve-foot-long snake.

The snake's eyelids fluttered open, its yellow, erect pupils filled with a cold, bestial appetite.

It spit out its entrails and opened its mouth, a mouth so wide it seemed as if it could swallow Anna whole.

"Little Master, run!" The house-elf flashed out, blocking little Anna's path.

He anxiously grabbed Anna's hand and tried to Disapparate away again, but it was too late. The snake moved with such speed that no one could react.

Its massive body instantly wrapped around the elf, twisting it tightly.

The elf had only time to fling Anna far away before it was shattered into pieces by the terrifying force.

  "Hiss!"

The snake continued forward, lunging at Anna.

Just then, a panicked cry echoed from the garden gate, "Nana, no! That's our daughter!"

Yes, Rosier had returned just in time.

But the snake ignored him, and its speed was so great that Rosier felt his daughter was about to be killed.

  "No!"

A vast black mist swept in.

With a boom, the snake was blown away, landing on the stone pestle.

"Nana!" Rosier cried out in heartbreaking pain. He quickly waved his wand, casting an 'Iron Armor Charm' on his daughter. He rushed into the pile of rocks, searching frantically.

  Finally, he found her.

The snake had transformed into Nagini once again, but his desperate attack was too horrific. Nagini was dead.

He had killed his own wife!

  The rain poured down.

Rosier held Nagini's body, weeping in despair, wailing like a lone wolf...

"No, no, no, no!" Anna gazed sorrowfully at the image shrouded in smoke. She frantically pushed open the wooden door of the laboratory and ran out.

The image stopped, and Pedro sighed, turning to Anton. "I told her not to see this. Have you drawn the image for the 'Fairy Eye' secret technique?"

Anton nodded and straightened himself, clearly relaxed and at ease, showing none of the weakness he had felt just as he was about to collapse.

With a flick of his finger, the missing corner of the pattern in mid-air was instantly restored.

"Keep an eye on Nagini, don't let her run away. I'm going to go check on Anna." He said, and quickly chased after her.

Pedro stared at his back in shock. "I'm hundreds of years old, I've lived through so many years, and I... I was actually fooled by a child?"

The old wizard chuckled beside him, "My foolish teacher."
