Chapter 166 - "The Captains Are All Down"

Aizen smiled faintly. "I used to be an instructor myself, you know."

Soi Fon glared at him. "The fact they ever let you teach proves how ridiculous Central 46 was!"

"Maybe," Aizen said evenly, "but that's why they got played by traitors in the end."

"Don't you dare slander the dead!" she snapped.

He raised a brow. "Slander? Please. If we're talking about scheming, aren't you all doing the same thing?"

Soi Fon's eyes sharpened. "You think you're the only one who can play that game?"

Her body suddenly split into two, then three, then dozens—until the sky was filled with identical Soi Fons darting through the air.

Aizen chuckled. "Clones? Quite the performance."

"Glad you're enjoying the show," she said coldly. "But the Stealth Force doesn't perform for applause. Consider this my gift in return—let this little trick take your life."

All the Soi Fons gathered their energy into a single metal fingertip and launched themselves at Aizen like a storm of bullets.

Just as Aizen reached for his Zanpakutō, he realized too late that his arm had been frozen solid—Hitsugaya's Hyōrinmaru had locked him in ice.

Soi Fon's finger jabbed right into his chest.

"Twofold Strike—Kill!"

She pulled back and struck again, the same spot, faster than the eye could follow. Blood splattered.

Aizen looked down at the wound and actually smiled. "So this is your Nigeki Kessatsu? Interesting technique… but useless."

Soi Fon's eyes went wide.

"Shinigami battles," Aizen said calmly, "are battles of spiritual pressure. You can't kill me with power so far beneath mine."

His reiatsu flared violently, shattering the ice around him in an instant.

He raised his blade to strike—when suddenly a sword pierced straight through his back.

Kyoraku Shunsui appeared behind him, grinning under his hat. "You really let your guard down, huh? You forgot—ice casts shadows."

Aizen turned his head slightly. "Kyoraku… you bastard."

Before he could react, Hitsugaya charged in. "It's over, Aizen!"

Aizen blocked him lazily. "So impatient. You see a chance and you rush in headfirst—that's your biggest flaw, Captain Hitsugaya."

At that moment, Shinji Hirako twirled his Zanpakutō, smiling slyly.

Aizen's expression darkened. "Wait—no… it's reversed—!"

But it was already too late. Hitsugaya's sword went straight through his chest.

A few meters away, Hinamori slowly stood up and stumbled toward the battlefield.

Shinji laughed. "Finally! The tide's turning. Isn't that right, Gin?"

But Ichigo's eyes went wide. "Wait… no… what did you guys do?"

Then everyone froze. The person Hitsugaya had stabbed—wasn't Aizen.

It was Hinamori.

Every captain's eyes went wide in horror.

Hitsugaya's voice trembled. "Hinamori…?!"

The "Hinamori" in his arms shimmered and transformed into Aizen, who smiled—and with one effortless swing, cut down both Hitsugaya and Shinji.

"When… when did he—?!" Shinji gasped.

Aizen looked down at him calmly. "You ask 'when'? Don't embarrass yourself. My Zanpakutō, Kyōka Suigetsu, controls the five senses completely. It's perfect hypnosis. I can show you whatever I want."

Shinji roared, "Then tell me—when did you start using it on us?!"

He lunged forward.

Aizen didn't even flinch. "That's what I'd like to ask you. When did you start thinking I wasn't using it?"

Hitsugaya fell to the ground with Hinamori in his arms, surrounded by shards of melting ice.

"Shiro… why…?" she whispered weakly.

Hitsugaya threw back his head and screamed, rage exploding into freezing wind. The temperature around them plummeted.

"Stop, Captain Hitsugaya!" someone shouted.

But he charged at Aizen anyway.

"Such obvious openings," Aizen said flatly. His blade flashed—Hitsugaya collapsed.

Soi Fon followed, yelling in fury, but Aizen's sword met her midair. Blood sprayed as she fell.

Shinji swung next, only to be blasted back by a crushing wave of reiatsu.

Kyoraku dashed in and slashed—but his sword cut nothing but air. Aizen was gone.

The next moment, Aizen appeared behind him and drove his blade deep into Kyoraku's back.

Shinji tried one last desperate strike, but Aizen moved too fast; his afterimages filled the sky. When Shinji finally caught sight of the real one—it was already over.

In an instant, four captains were down.

Ichigo shouted and rushed forward—but a massive pillar of fire erupted between them.

Out of the flames stepped Yamamoto Genryūsai, his face shadowed and grim.

Ichigo stared in awe. "Old man…!"

Aizen glanced toward the fire. "So the Head Captain finally arrives. Shame you're late. You're the only one left standing now. If you fall, the Gotei 13 truly collapses. So why bother coming here just to die?"

On Screen

Yamamoto stood face-to-face with Aizen. "Don't get cocky, boy," he growled. "You think your tricks can harm me?"

Aizen's eyes gleamed. "Harm you? Oh, I already have."

"Impudent brat!" Yamamoto roared, swinging Ryūjin Jakka.

Aizen vanished in a blur, reappearing behind him—his blade thrust straight through Yamamoto's body, blood spraying.

But the old man only smiled faintly, catching Aizen's arm with a burning grip. "Got you."

Aizen didn't even flinch. "So what if you did? Are you sure that's really my arm you're holding?"

Yamamoto's eyes narrowed. "So this is your 'complete hypnosis,' huh? What you see, hear, feel—all lies."

He gritted his teeth. "But I can still feel your reiatsu stabbing through my gut. That, I'd never mistake."

Tightening his grip, he said coldly, "You said I missed my chance? You're wrong. The timing is perfect."

Pillars of fire erupted all around them, turning the battlefield into a blazing inferno.

Yamamoto's voice thundered, "Flames of Hell!"

"Your arrogance gave me the opening I needed. Now you'll burn with me—forever!"
