Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 Rival Game

It's Sunday night and I'm supposed to be doing my final project for this quarter since it's due tomorrow and all I can do is sit here and think about how this weekend turned out. How did I become so gullible and trusting? Have I always been this naive? Is the Moon Goddess punishing me for giving my heart to someone that wasn't my fated? A million questions are running through my head and I am just at a loss.

Friday night was our big rival football game and one of the last games of the season. Being a member of the squads for the marching band I had to be there even though I would have been there regardless, I was all for school spirit and showing my support for most sports. What surprised me however was seeing my boyfriend, Cliff, there. He never really attended the games when he went to our high school, he was a year older so he had graduated last year and he wasn't really into sports, especially school ones, he wasn't the school spirit type, but there he was hanging out at our rival game. I honestly didn't even know he came home from college this weekend. Why didn't he tell me? Maybe he wanted to surprise me? He knew I would be at the game, he knew I went to every one, unless I was sick, so it made no sense why he wouldn't tell me he was coming. We both knew we couldn't hang out at the game because I had to stick with the band but I definitely would have gotten up a few times to go to the bathroom or to the snack stand just so we could steal a few moments together, so the fact he never told me he was in town and coming to a game threw me for a loop a little but I brushed it off.

He was hanging out with his usual group of friends, most of which he graduated with, and a few other kids that started hanging around the group over the past year. For the most part I didn't care, there was just one girl, Catherine, that was around that I couldn't stand, she was dating one of the guys from the OG group but over the summer she was starting to display a little too much interest in my man. It started at her boyfriend's graduation party where she was blatantly flirting with Cliff in front of everyone and no one including him or her boyfriend, Rhett, did anything until I got pissed and almost walked home so I wouldn't cause a scene by punching her in her face, we werewolves are extremely territorial. So seeing her there with the group aggravated me and I tried to ignore the fact that I wasn't able to be with them because I had other responsibilities by staying with the marching band during the game. I just had to wait until after the game to go spend time with Cliff and make sure that she wasn't around.

After the game I had noticed that the bitch was hanging on Cliff like the plague she was and Rhett wasn't anywhere around. Even though a few of the others were still there it pissed me off. It wasn't even until they noticed me walking over that she finally moved away from him. Cliff strode over and picked me up and kissed me passionately that I almost forgot we had an audience. After we broke away from the kiss, I noticed Catherine had huffed off. Cliff finally put me down and he smiled down at me lovingly that all the anger left me.

"Sorry I didn't tell you I was coming home, it was kinda last minute and when Rhett and Fred said they were coming to the game tonight, I decided it was better to surprise you. I just wish you weren't required to stay in the stands so we could have been together." Cliff answered all my questions in one statement.

"It's fine, I definitely was surprised to see you at a game but I'm glad you're here, I missed you!" I leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He pulled me closer squeezed my butt and said he missed me too. We sat in the parking lot with the group he was with for a while trying to decide what we were going to do for the rest of the night.

After the game, most of the players, cheerleaders, band and other students decided to go to Applebee's to celebrate the team's win since it was one of the few places open late, so our group decided to go too, figuring there might be word of an upcoming party. Cliff and I were one of the last of our group to show up, saying it was because I wanted to change out of my uniform, when in reality Cliff made a slight detour so we could hook up. He didn't live far from the school and his parents were rarely ever home, always on some sort of business trip. Luckily I had a change of clothes in my bag so our detour wasn't a complete lie. We weren't fated but we had been together for 2 years and Cliff told me since neither of us had found our fated since turning 18 that once I graduated he would make me his chosen. He was the first person I ever truly trusted and I was so in love with him that I honestly couldn't wait.

When we finally arrived, our group was already sat at a table and ordered us appetizers and some sodas. Once Cliff sat down Fred, Cliff's best friend, told us he got word there was going to be a bonfire in the clearing of the woods behind the Alpha's house and we all agreed to go after eating. Once we got to the clearing the party was in full swing. There were werewolves everywhere playing drinking games, dancing and making out. I'm sure there were even some that snuck off to go have sex. We decided to go play some games and ended up in a circle for spin the bottle. Much to my dismay Rhett and Catherine were already around the circle but Cliff insisted we play. It was Rhett's turn when we got there and when he spun the bottle it landed on Cliff so he took a shot instead of giving Cliff a kiss, granted it would have been hilarious to see those to kiss because even though they hung out regularly due to being mutual friends with Fred, they really didn't like one another. Next was Catherine's turn. She seemed a little too excited when we walked up and I hoped the bottle wouldn't land where she wanted but unfortunately that was not the case. Her spin also landed on Cliff and I knew she wouldn't pass up the opportunity to go for the kiss. I tried reminding myself it was just a stupid game but as she swung her hips walking up to Cliff my wolf growled when she looked at me with a smug smirk on her face. Cliff tried reassuring me it was just for the game but the second their lips touched and became deeper then it should have been I almost lost it. Rhett looked just as pissed as me at their display and before I knew it, we both walked away.

I'm not sure how long it even took before Cliff even came looking for me, trying to apologize saying he was just putting on a show for the game but I didn't want to hear it. I walked away before I had said or done something I regretted, telling him I needed a minute to think. About a half hour later I came back to the party to find Rhett and Catherine arguing at the edge of the field and Cliff by the fire. I walked over to Cliff and he pulled me into his lap and stuck his nose in my neck breathing me in. I was still pissed but I let him nuzzle me to calm not only himself but me. We rarely use to fight but ever since that bitch came into picture we were fighting more and more. I just didn't trust her but Cliff kept assuring me I had nothing to worry about. We left shortly after.
