Two hours later, Elise was sitting in an empty coffee shop, stirring her cup of coffee as she gazed at the system screen in front of her.
After grabbing some clothes at a nearby store, Elise headed to the coffee shop to get breakfast. Her stomach was cramping with hunger and her body was in so much pain from last night's activities.
She was slightly regretting running out of that hotel room like a crazy woman with how her muscles trembled and ached. But there was no way she was going to stick around with Dante in that room.
He would just hurl insults at her for being like every other omega trying to sleep with him to claw their way up the social ladder. And then he'd hate her more when Elise's father used her lost chastity as a way to get them hitched.
That was the final reason Elise threw money at him.
Because now she could act like she was using him as an escort. It would probably shock many with how she treated him, but she wasn't going to play to the original owner's family's whims.
Of course, that meant there was another problem for her - Elise's family. They were a group of mostly betas trying to climb the social ladder. And their golden goose finally came in the form of the original owner.
She was the first omega in the family and to many of her family members, she was their chance to a wealthy life. The original owner was groomed to become the perfect obedient omega, ready to be sold to the highest bidder.
And everything would have gone the way they wanted it to if not for the fact Elise was a romantic at heart. She didn't want to be hitched to any rando, but someone she loved. She wanted the Beta romance she grew up seeing.
But after she was drugged, her family was finally able to push her over the edge, making her marry those four toxic alphas. They deluded her into thinking that she could make the alphas fall for her.
Too bad that never happened… Elise mused to herself as she took a sip of her coffee. I'll need to get rid of them and make sure they pay for what they did to the original owner. That's the least I can do as thanks for getting this body. But first…

Elise stared at the system screen in front of her. This was the mission that the system had given her after she escaped the hotel. Too bad it had chosen the wrong girl.
Elise had no interest in conquering those four nor did she want to return back to Earth.
Her parents had already died two years ago and she barely had any social life thanks to the long hours at work. She was sad to have lost the only place she called home.
But she also didn't want to return to that life of instant meals and constantly working overtime. Who would want that when they had a chance to live a pampered life?
Sure, she'd have to deal with scheming family members, but she knew the contents of this story. So, she could easily deal with that.
There was also the fact that she'd need to find an alpha before she was matched with a few. That was one of the downsides of this whole thing she supposed.
Omegas were required to have at least one alpha by the time they were twenty-five. Otherwise, the Omega Agency, the government agency responsible for all omegas, would find her alphas to be with.
It was some kind of law they had wanting to make sure omegas were reproducing to keep the population going since omegas were rare. Of course, Elise knew it wasn't that black and white.
The agency was clearly created not to protect omegas, but keep them in check for the alphas. How else would they be able to control the omegas while making everyone else think it was for the benefit of omegas?
Still she had some time. Right now Elise was twenty-three. At least according to her ID. That gave her two years to find a wholesome partner who'd treat her well.
Then she could enjoy life as she wanted without needing to ever worry about paying for rent again.
Perhaps it was a dull dream, but Elise wasn't interested in changing the world or anything like that. She just wanted a peaceful existence without having to worry about much.
"I'm not interested in completing this mission." Elise finally murmured softly, not wanting to catch the beta barista's attention on the other side of the coffee shop. "Why would I want to return home? I'll just find myself a nice husband instead."
As she spoke the system screen suddenly flickered to red.

Elise gripped the coffee mug tightly, anger boiling through her. Despite not wanting to return back to Earth, she had no desire to die. This system was really forcing her hand, making sure she stayed with the male leads.
It really wanted her to suffer!
"Fine…" Elise muttered. "I'll complete the mission-"
Before she could say anything else her phone began chiming. She glanced over at it on the table, her frown deepening upon seeing the caller ID.
Her day had just gone from bad to worse. Looks like she was going to have to deal with the original owner's family sooner than she wanted to.
Picking up the phone, Elise answered it, knowing there'd be hell to pay if she didn't answer it right away. Right now she needed to hide the fact that she was no longer their docile pushover.
That way they'd never see her stabbing them in the back and running away to live a happy life. If she could even do that anymore…
"Hello Mother." Elise greeted her mother, hoping her tone sounded polite.
"Where are you?! Are you trying to cause trouble for your father and me?" Elise's mother, Mary Zhane, yelled through the phone, causing Elise to pull it away from her ear. "Come home right now!"
"Yes Mother." Elise murmured, rolling her eyes.
This woman had been the one to drug her, wanting her to sleep with some movie producer to help her younger sister's career and hitch Elise with him. But that didn't happen because Elise slept with Dante instead.
The producer was upset about not spending a night with the original owner like promised and when Elise returned home, she was scolded before being locked up in her room for a few days.
Her family rarely beat her physically, not wanting to make her damaged, but that didn't stop the abuse. They looked for other ways to abuse Elise instead.
Her mother promptly hung up the phone without another word and Elise got up to head back home. As much as she didn't want to, it was either there or the Omega Agency and she definitely would lose her freedom if she went to the agency.
Perhaps heading back to Earth isn't such a bad idea. Elise thought as she headed out to hail a taxi. It'll give me a break from all this rubbish…
She would just have to conquer the male leads first, much to her disgust.
