Ficool

Chapter 5 - Ch5

Making an entrance into the second tree was just as straightforward as the first. I carved a small opening with my pickaxe, the wood giving way easily than before. Peering inside, I saw nothing but darkness, so I grabbed a torch from my pack, lit it, and tossed it into the hollow. The flickering light illuminated the rough interior, casting jagged shadows on the bark. I muttered to myself, "What a brilliant plan, throwing fire into a tree…" when I saw no one I started climbing down, gripping the inner ridges of the tree carefully, my boots scraping against the uneven surface. One wrong step could send me plummeting, and I wasn't keen on testing my luck with a fatal fall.

The climb down was slow, deliberate. The air grew cooler, damper, the deeper I went. After a couple of minutes of steep decline my torchlight caught the outline of another wooden door below. It was all covered in moss and grass as if it was left there and forgotten about for a long, long time. Opening that door revealed a dark wooden hall. The wood although healthy at first look was rotten and eaten by the termites from the inside. Tearing some of it away I saw three different vines of ores. Silver, gold and metal to be exact.

A huge smile covered my face, finally something is going good, although usually in this places there is at least one chat laying around and yet I saw none. Going close to start mining I decided to peek my head through the doorway without door and what I saw scared me. There was an underground desert. Second place by mob spawning speed loosing only to the jungle. I was not ready to go there. In fact I don't need to go there. Well maybe just for golfer, but except that, without any chests it would be a waste of time to go there.

Suddenly I heard a low, persistent buzzing, sound. And then I saw an antion swarmer that rapidly approached me. I done what every sane person would do in my situation, I run away and jumped in the cliff just above the entrance to the hall. After a few minutes holding recall potion in my hand I realized that it stuck and couldn't get out of it.

Well, I guess I can be a bit greedy and go for those ores. And so I started mining. The wood came off very easy, but than I realized that if I want to mine to ores I need to get through a lot of sand, and with my current pickaxe it will take me too much time. I decided to listen if that ant left, but it was still trying to fit that small entrance.

So without much hesitation I drank recall potion and appeared in the glade. First thing I noticed was the night that had fallen, the sky was painted in a deep indigo speckled with yellow, red or occasional white stars. The glade was quiet, save for the occasional hoot of an owl or rustle of leaves.

Since it was already a night I quickly jumped to the platforms above and started to organize the loot that I got.

When I was holding flinch staff, I realized that I completely forgotten to summon flinch. Feeling like an idiot, I activated the staff, and the little creature appeared, weaving an nest in my hair. Better late than never.

When all my things were sorted out I finished the house and got bored pretty quickly. Then I noticed that little bird was hitting zombies that horded below. Not thinking much I bought a bunch of grenades from the demolitionist and started throwing them. Soon enough all of the zombie were dead… Even more dead than they were before…

As I was going to go down and grab all the things they dropped(arrows, torches, gel and money) I almost got hit by the demon eye. It was massive, almost 40 inches(1meter) in tall and wide it easily slept through the entrance that I made.

I was fast enough to react and get into the room above, but that thing genuinely scared me. Because the grenades were the only option I started throwing them into the hole that lead to the room where the demon eye was currently in.

"Using grenades in the house, what a great idea!" I thought with sarcasm while keeping throwing them. In about three minutes and 4 grenades later(yes, they are quite(very) tanky I thought that I would be enough and peeked my head to see if it was dead. Spoiler, it won't. So I resummoned a little bird, but in that room expecting for it to finish the job. Sure enough, after yet another 10 minutes it was dead.

As I was about to go to the loot I saw that new zombies come and they were on the verge of getting into the house. "This is bad" . Thankfully I reacted quickly and placed a block to prevent zombies from entering. Throwing a grenade into the hole I realized that I messed up badly. It didn't fit through the hole properly and sat there, primed to explode. I need to be as far as possible from that thing. The grenade deals 60 dmg (which is almost all of my health) and how terraria works it can be anywhere from 69 to 51 dmg and on top of that it has 4% crit chance, that means that in my current state it has 4% to kill me on the spot…

When the grenade exploded it knocked those zombies that managed to jump too close making them fall to the ground. Opening the exit I throwed one more grenade and jumped to grab the loot. Now I was a proud owner of a gold coin.

"While I am here, I can also get some fallen stars." So I spend the rest of the night running around, killing zombies with grenades(it takes around 3-4 grenades to kill one). Thankfully they drop enough gold so I can buy more ammunition. When I saw the demon eye, I would run to the house and let the little flinch deal with that.

So, when the sun raised I already had 120 mana, 4 more mana crystals and I will be maxed out on mana part. Well all in all, expect some unexpected situations that were quite close I was quite good day.
