Episode 2 – The Bronze Star Trial

The city of Noctis-4 was far from calm after the alien attack in the plaza. News feeds across the neon skyline played the footage on repeat: a strange crystalline beast terrorizing the people, and a group of fighters—two known, two unknown—bringing it down.

But what the cameras couldn't capture was the most important part: the system that appeared before Shreyank Raheja's eyes.

---

The Mysterious Screen

Shreyank sat on the rooftop of his apartment later that night, still holding the shard of Shakti Crystal he had collected. The rain had stopped, but the clouds remained heavy. His mind kept replaying the words:

[Bronze Star Acquired: +1]

"What does it mean?" he whispered to himself.

As if responding to his thoughts, the same glowing interface appeared again. A circular emblem hovered in front of him, showing:

Stars Collected: 1

Tier: Bronze

Requirement to Advance: 10 Stars

Beneath it, a cryptic message flickered:

"Every level has a price. Every star comes with blood. Survive… or be erased."

Shreyank's heart pounded. So it's not just about fighting. It's about surviving trials.

Parth appeared from the rooftop door, carrying two steaming cups of chai. "Bhai, tu abhi tak soya bhi nahi? Pura din ladte rahe, aur tu yahan khud se baatein kar raha hai."

Shreyank quickly dismissed the interface. "Bas… soch raha tha. Jo hua… uske baare mein."

Parth handed him the cup. "Mujhe pata hai. But jo bhi hai, tu akela nahi hai. Main tere saath hoon."

Shreyank smiled faintly. He didn't have the heart to tell Parth that whatever he had stepped into was far beyond either of their understanding.

An Unexpected Visit

The peace didn't last long. A knock on their apartment door startled them. Parth grabbed a kitchen knife, his eyes narrowing.

"Kaun hoga itni raat ko?"

When Shreyank opened the door, he wasn't surprised to find Ritika and Rehanshika standing there. Both carried the same seriousness they had shown during the battle.

Ritika spoke first. "We need to talk."

Inside, the four of them gathered around the table. Ritika placed a small metallic sphere on it. The sphere projected a hologram of the alien they had fought earlier.

"That creature was called a Bronze Shakti-born. And it won't be the last," Ritika explained. "They're not random monsters. They're trials—tests sent by something far greater. Every time one appears, it's because someone nearby has been chosen."

Her eyes locked on Shreyank.

Parth frowned. "Chosen? For what?"

Rehanshika finally spoke, her voice sharp. "To ascend. To climb through the star system. But understand this—every level demands blood. Every star requires risk. If your brother has been chosen, then his life will never be normal again."

Shreyank stayed silent. He already knew this deep inside. The whisper he had heard from the crystal still echoed in his skull.

The First Mission

Ritika leaned forward. "If what I think is correct, the next Bronze creature will appear within the week. And you'll need at least 10 Bronze Stars before you can face the Silver-tier."

Parth interrupted. "Wait, you're saying we have to fight nine more of those things?!"

Rehanshika smirked. "Nine more… if you survive. Most never make it past three."

Shreyank clenched his fists. "Then I'll make it. Tell me what I need to do."

Ritika studied him for a long moment before nodding. "Fine. Tomorrow night, meet us at the abandoned Sector-9 Power Plant. That's where the next trial will awaken."

And just like that, the path forward was set.

---

Sector-9

The next night, the four of them arrived at Sector-9—a massive, decayed power plant on the outskirts of Noctis-4. Once, it had powered half the city; now it stood silent, rusted, and crawling with shadows.

The air was heavy with static energy. Shreyank felt his veins glowing faintly again, reacting to something nearby.

Parth whispered, "Bhai, mujhe yeh jagah bilkul pasand nahi."

"Good," Rehanshika muttered. "Fear keeps you alive."

As they entered the central chamber of the plant, the Shakti Crystal appeared again—floating, pulsating, brighter than before.

This time, it split into two creatures instead of one. Both were smaller than the first, but their movements were faster, sharper, more unpredictable.

The trial had begun.

---

The Battle

The first creature lunged straight at Shreyank, crystalline claws flashing. He dodged, barely avoiding the strike. The second creature targeted Parth, who stumbled back in panic.

"Parth!" Shreyank shouted.

Ritika's arrow flew past, striking the creature's leg and slowing it down. "Focus! Cover your brother!"

Rehanshika was already moving, her blades slicing across the first creature's chest. But the alien's shards regenerated almost instantly.

"They're evolving," she hissed.

Shreyank felt the energy inside him building again. His palm glowed, but this time the power didn't feel stable—it surged violently, almost out of control.

I have to master this, he thought. If I can't, we'll all die.

With a roar, he unleashed the energy, blasting one creature back into the walls. The force cracked its crystalline armor, revealing a glowing core inside.

"Go for the core!" Ritika shouted.

Together, they focused their attacks. Ritika's arrows pinned it down, Rehanshika struck the weak points, and Shreyank delivered the final blow, shattering the core into fragments.

[Bronze Star Acquired: +1]

The notification flashed before Shreyank's eyes. He barely had time to register it before the second creature leapt at Parth again.

This time, Parth didn't freeze. He pulled the pin on a plasma grenade and shoved it straight into the alien's chest. The explosion tore the creature apart, leaving nothing but fragments.

[Bronze Star Acquired: +1]

Parth fell to the ground, gasping, but alive. Shreyank rushed to his side. "You did it, Parth. You actually did it."

Parth gave a shaky laugh. "Guess I'm not just the sidekick after all."

Aftermath in the Dark

The chamber fell silent again. Two more stars. Now Shreyank had 3 out of 10.

Ritika retrieved the shards, her face grim. "It begins. Each fight will grow harder. Each creature will adapt. By the time you reach the tenth, you won't just be fighting monsters—you'll be fighting yourself."

Rehanshika added coldly, "And don't forget—if you fail, the system doesn't just kill you. It erases you. No body, no memory, nothing left."

Shreyank's jaw tightened. He looked at the glowing stars floating faintly in his vision.

I can't fail. Not for me, not for Parth.

But deep in the shadows of the power plant, unseen by them, another pair of eyes glowed faintly silver. The cloaked figure from before watched silently, recording everything.

"The stars are moving faster than expected," he whispered. "If the Raheja brothers truly survive this… then the prophecy is unfoldings.
