Lucifer soon arrived in town.
Because of years of training and clearing beasts and sea monsters threatening the town, Lucifer was a well-known figure there.
Most island residents were rugged and respected strength sincerely.
The strongest person on the island naturally was Lucifer, who was skilled in many abilities.
"Oh, it's young master Lucifer of the Chris family. The young master is here again!"
A town resident greeted warmly upon seeing Lucifer.
"Ah, yes, just came to buy some things!"
Lucifer politely replied.
Along the way, many greeted him, showing that although the Chris family was noble, they were good people to the island residents.
Lucifer continued until he reached the town's only sailing supplies store.
It was run by an old sailor catering to visiting merchant ships.
Buna Island was not on the main shipping lanes but was the West Sea's most prosperous island corner.
Many merchant ships passed through, and many shops served them.
Curiously, in the ten years since Lucifer arrived in this world, no pirates had ever come to Buna Island.
This puzzled Lucifer greatly.
Unless an island was deserted and abandoned, it was impossible for pirates never to visit.
But Buna Island was just like that, giving Lucifer no target even to train against.
When Lucifer left the sailing equipment store, it was late.
Buna Island lay near a magnetic anomaly line with only two seasons—summer and spring.
This climate led to very long daylight hours.
Though a poor island, with agriculture and the sea, vegetation and fish, the town was basically self-sufficient.
Noting the late hour, Lucifer headed to the forest west of Buna Island.
True to its name, the island was not small.
There were four towns.
At their center lay a large forest.
The forest was vast, but years ago the Chris family funded a road through it with other noble families for travel.
The forest was called Buna Great Forest.
It was home to many fierce beasts.
Too dangerous for most townsfolk to pass alone armed only.
Only Lucifer dared enter it solo.
Buna Great Forest produced huge white wild boars, thickly furred and nutritious.
Over the years, Lucifer had cleared many of these boars.
Buna Island's main crops were often damaged by wild boars—a universal behavior.
When Lucifer first defeated a boar and made it dinner, he made a habit of hunting a boar periodically.
This Buna Island specialty was highly beneficial to his cultivated body.
Though he couldn't explain why, lacking scientific knowledge, he knew the benefit was real.
As usual, after hunting a boar successfully, Lucifer returned from Buna Great Forest.
This boar was large enough to feed his entire family well, though most of it ended up in Lucifer's own belly.
…
Another half year passed.
The year 1497 came to an end, soon to transition to 1498—the year Roger would be publicly executed.
Lucifer's preparations were nearly complete.
His single-mast sailboat was finished a few days ago and moored at his usual beach training spot.
Notably, he had personally moved the ship there after construction.
This further showed the townsfolk Lucifer's powers—they recognized him as the strongest on Buna Island.
As old and new times exchanged places, the year 1498, destined to mark a new historical era opened by Pirate King Roger, finally arrived.
Nearly a year later, eleven-year-old Lucifer sat on a stone by the beach.
In that year, he had grown taller still, about 1.85 meters.
At just eleven, this height was unimaginable for his previous self.
Lucifer had fully left childhood behind.
Without seeing his age, no one would guess he was only eleven.
He sat on a green stone by the shore, watching shimmering waves, his thoughts drifting to Log Town in East Blue.
By now, Pirate King Roger had presumably surrendered.
After surrender, the government announced the execution date in Log Town.
Meanwhile, in Water 7, Tom was sentenced to death for building Roger's ship.
But his idea for the sea train earned him a ten-year reprieve instead.
Over the half year, Lucifer had resolved many things.
Not wanting to implicate his family, he decided to sail directly to Log Town.
After attending the "big event," he planned to apply to join the Marines at the Log Town Marine base.
What happened after becoming Marine was yet to be seen.
His detailed plan wasn't fixed, but the rough route was clear.
Join the Marines, go to Headquarters, then to the training camp, currently likely managed by Zephyr.
There he could effectively learn all Haki-related knowledge!
"Hmm... let's do that!"
Lucifer smiled watching seagulls circling above the sea.
