Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Who Are You Really?

If it were another profession, Gu Ji might not be so sure.

But as a police academy student, for the past four years, the only people he interacted with daily were classmates, teachers, and police officers. No, to be precise, even the teachers were retired detectives, SWAT, or armed police.

So he was quite thoroughly informed about the police profession.

Due to the special nature of the profession, these people often possess highly developed cognitive skills, which means a very keen sense of observation.

Compared to ordinary people, a police officer's observation is often purposeful, planned, and prepared perception, which has greater initiative and understanding than the general sensory perception.

The glances from those two people were: purposeful, fine-tuned, timely, and predictive.

This is a typical characteristic of a detective's observation!

In other words, the two of them together have eight hundred tricks up their sleeves.

"From the series of reactions of the blonde woman just now, it should be Jillian Foster, but why didn't she respond?"

Gu Ji couldn't quite understand.

Even if you're a cop, you shouldn't be so wary of strangers, right?

However, at least he figured out why the game set him up to find Jillian Foster.

Two professional detectives, plus him, if they could join forces with the airport federal police or some combat-capable individuals, they might just be able to counter the thugs and resolve this terrorist crisis.

"Sir, if you're looking for the owner of a lost item, you can contact the airport broadcasting room for assistance, please refrain from yelling here, and we hope you understand and cooperate..."

Finally, two security guards walked up to him, extended their hands to guide him, intending to lead him to the broadcasting room.

"No need, may I know where the police station is?"

"Are you looking for the federal police? The police station is on the south side of the check-in area."

Gu Ji turned to look, at the corner on the south side of the second-floor hall, near the restroom, he saw the blue-and-black sign with the English word "POLICE."

Unlike back home, Ethiopia allows private ownership of firearms, coupled with frequent civil wars and social unrest, the issue of rampant firearms in some areas is particularly severe. Therefore, to improve security, violent departments like the police station are certainly equipped with a large arsenal.

He confirmed the location of the "ARMS AND AMMUNITION."

Looking back, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that "Jillian" and her companion had obviously become more cautious, seemingly because they heard him asking about the police station.

This didn't seem right...

Why would police be afraid of police?

If she hadn't been killed in the last round, causing the mission to fail, Gu Ji might have suspected that this "Jillian" was an enemy mole.

Just as he pondered the reason.

Suddenly.

A teeth-grating screech of tires echoed, and a dusty wine-red Toyota MPV braked sharply at the entrance to the first-floor hall of the airport, drawing considerable attention.

The next moment.

All the car doors opened, and several black men in brown camouflage uniforms, with red printed scarves around their necks, jumped out, each holding a weapon in their hands.

Under the extremely astonished gazes of the crowd.

A gap-toothed black man suddenly raised the black shotgun in his hand and, pointing at the stunned security staff at the door, pulled the trigger.

Bam—!

The loud gunfire accompanied by the flare from the muzzle shattered the glass door into countless shards, which hit the security staff all over, and with a squelch, a shower of blood splattered, plunging them to the ground on the spot!

The rest immediately stepped on the broken glass as they rushed into the hall, holding rifles aimed at the crowd, and began firing wildly.

Da-da-da!

Da-da!

The sounds of gunfire quickly melded into one; countless people fell like wheat being harvested, one after another, while an airport policeman couldn't even draw his gun before a bullet pierced his neck, and a fountain of blood spurted high into the air.

"Ah!"

"Help!!"

...

Amidst the heart-wrenching screams, the crowd scattered in panic like ants from a burst dam, some ducked under chairs, others ran into shops, and some hid in restrooms, but most rushed towards the escalators like it was the apocalypse, pressing in tight, rolling and crawling together.

But as the bullets swept through,

clouds of blood mist erupted, and numerous bodies tumbled off the escalator like dumplings, accumulating on the ground.

"Hello! Is this the command center? There's a shooting incident at the airport, with numerous casualties! Requesting reinf—"

An anxious security officer on the second floor began to call out loudly on the walkie-talkie, but he seemed to forget about taking cover, and a stray bullet swept over, just in an instant, a glancing blow peeled his cap right off.

"Quick, get to the boarding gates! The boarding gates!"

In the chaos, a yellow silhouette shouted to remind the crowd while sprinting madly towards the south side of the check-in area in the hall, moving at an incredible speed.

It was Gu Ji!

In fact, the moment the thugs jumped out of the car doors, he had shouted "Run" to alert the crowd, but unfortunately, the gunfire quickly drowned him out, and hardly anyone noticed.

"Including the driver, six people, just as I suspected. Even if they assign one person to manage the aftermath on the first floor and another to guard and support the second-floor escalator, four people are left, forming a standard CQB tactical squad to continue their assault."

Gu Ji silently recounted the details about the thugs he had observed, reorganizing the information obtained from the last round of live-action simulation. Of course, he didn't forget his other mission target: Jillian.

Less than three seconds after the attack launched, Jillian and the short-haired Caucasian woman had run towards the police station.

At this moment,

a number of frantic foreign tourists had already gathered around the police station. Most of them were relatively calm, knowing that seeking help from the police during an attack was the safest and most reliable option.

Unfortunately,

this wasn't just a typical airport shooting, but an organized, premeditated terrorist attack. The attackers were a highly trained group of single-soldier elites that ordinary police simply couldn't withstand, otherwise, the airport wouldn't have fallen so quickly last round.

"Everyone step back, don't run around wildly, find a safe place to hide!"

Inside the police station, six federal police officers had just tidied up their bulletproof vests and weapons. A relatively chubby middle-aged black officer waved his arm towards the crowd and shouted twice before grabbing a Type-56 submachine gun, ready to go down and confront the thugs with his colleagues.

"Officer! Charging out from an open ground like this is just sending yourselves to your death!"

Gu Ji finally squeezed through the crowd and grabbed him by the shoulder, "These attackers are all professional soldiers and understand CQB combat. Don't fight head-on, immediately evacuate the crowd to the boarding gates, and we will defend at the security checkpoint. The security checkpoint is the only corridor from the second floor to the boarding gates at the airport, it's easy to defend and hard to attack. And the boarding gates connect to the airport runway, even if we fail, we have a way to escape!"

The chubby black officer visibly paused for a moment.

But the nearby officer with an explosion of curly hair retorted, "Oh, buddy, what nonsense are you talking about? These guys are just a few stupid soldiers from the Luoao Rebel Army, no better than the dog I keep at home."

Just as he finished speaking, from a distance in the stands,

Crash——!

Thud!

A bullet penetrated the glass railing and struck a federal officer who was engaging the thugs. Before his nearby colleague could react, da-da, another bullet shot a series of rounds, shattering another officer's skull, with blood mixed with brain matter spraying and splattering all around.

"Ah!"

The consecutive killings of two officers sent a white female yelling in terror on the spot.

Panic ran rampant among the crowd, with some turning and fleeing, while others, though remaining, were filled with doubts over the police's ability to protect them.

The chubby black officer looked with sorrow at his colleagues' corpses. The truth was staring him in the face: the Luoao Rebel Army had exceptional shooting skills and indeed weren't something they could resist easily. He then asked Gu Ji cautiously, "How do you know so much about the attackers? Who exactly are you!"

Gu Ji deftly pulled out his passport and said in a deep voice, "Former Seoul Metropolitan Police Department Tactical Command Team Leader of the KNP868 Special Operations Team, Anti-Hijacking Group: Jiang Songyuan!"
