Chapter 13 - Chapter 11: Will Clan

Beep... beep... beep...

No one knew how much time had passed. Baiyi drowsily opened his eyes. He first stared blankly at everything around him. After adjusting, he casually waved his hand. From the hem of his trench coat, a worker bee flew to the source of the mechanical sound and turned off the communicator.

He stretched lazily, looking at the high stack of Barrett in the corner, his eyes full of satisfaction.

He was in no hurry to respond to the outside world's call. Instead, he went to a few treasure chests and, looking at the yellow-orange gold coins inside, his mood gradually became joyful.

Looking at the time, it had been eleven days since he returned to Dongwu City. During these days, the shop's revenue had reached about three thousand gold coins, which he deposited into the panel.

Now he had nine thousand gold coins purely on him, and with the eighteen thousand in the Dawn Badge, which was like a bank card, his savings had reached over twenty-seven thousand.

That didn't even include the equipment and items worth seven thousand from those two Black Night Rose members.

In an instant, Baiyi felt rich. In Alchemy's three main categories and seven subcategories, he had already collected Highly Poisonous and Matter Science. Now, with this money, he could buy another discipline.

The knowledge provided by the Federation might be common fare, but it was abundant and comprehensive, like university knowledge. Though everyone pays tuition to access it, its value cannot be denied.

Not to mention, thoroughly comprehending it still required creating tangible products, the cost of materials...

Once again, Baiyi felt he was still too poor.

Beep... beep...

Just as Baiyi was planning for the future, the mechanical sound of the communicator rang out again. Baiyi frowned. This time, he didn't ignore it but quickly walked out.

It was afternoon now, and it was still Miss Elf Aileen on duty. Whether it was Aileen or Or, neither would ever press the communicator twice consecutively.

Buzz~ click-click-click...

The sound of gears turning arose, and the massive metal door slowly opened. Baiyi quickly walked out of the passage and, after opening another metal door, arrived at the front hall and asked, "What's going on?"

At this time, Miss Elf's face was a bit pale, her hand still continuously pressing the call bell.

Baiyi's voice made Aileen shudder. She barely managed to steady herself and, pointing outside, her voice quivered, "Bo... boss, look outside."

Baiyi walked a few steps forward and looked outside the shop. The sight of several corpses, unusually conspicuous, caught his attention. The once bustling street was now deserted.

Some soldiers in black light armor, holding Barrett Energy Guns, were sealing off the street. Even two Beastman Warriors with Silver Lower Tier strength stood at his shop's door, their eyes filled with vigilance as they looked ahead.

Baiyi frowned. Upgrading equipment and manufacturing firearms had only taken ten days. What had happened during this time?

This was the elite of the Apocalypse Legion, directly answering to the City Lord, similar to his guards, only protecting the city's Rich District.

Usually, this army rarely moved on such a large scale, indicating that this incident was not trivial.

Before Baiyi could inquire about what happened, a young man in a white robe, with a cold expression, walked in, ignoring the two Beastman guards.

He looked around briefly, and finally fixed his gaze on Aileen. "Did you see what just happened?"

Though it was a question, his tone was assertive.

Aileen nodded, her voice somewhat unnatural, seemingly frightened, "Yes... yes, I saw it."

"Speak, recount the scene just now." The young man ordered.

"Just... just now someone suddenly split open in the middle, like... like taking off clothes, and a blood-red figure emerged. Immediately, people around collapsed, their blood drawn out as if by an invisible force." Aileen's voice trembled more. "The... the rest I really don't know."

"Troublesome." The young man's tone was impatient. He took a step forward but suddenly stopped, turning to look at the boy he had been ignoring.

No one could commit murder in an Alchemist's lair, just as no one would storm a Mage's Tower.

"What do you plan to do to my employee?"

Baiyi's tone carried a smile, but the freshly upgraded Demon Hunting Revolver was pointed at the young man's head.

The young man frowned, his gaze still cold, with a flicker of magic power's aura glimmering on him.

But at that instant, the large screen behind Aileen, originally showcasing products, paused abruptly, then flickered red. A scanning wave ran through the shop, data fluctuating on the big screen.

[Detected excessive magic power fluctuations, scanning enemy attributes.]

[Name: Unknown.

Race: Human.

Profession: Mage.

Level: 24.

Tier: Bronze Middle Tier.

Danger Level: 0%.]

The commotion attracted the guards at the door. The two Beastmen's expressions changed. They didn't expect a simple inquiry to escalate into a conflict, and they hurried inside.

The slightly thinner warrior on the left quickly said, "Mr. Baiyi, this is Seth from the Will Clan. He is here with Mr. Ernado to Dongwu City to investigate a cult, and Mr. Ernado is a powerful Silver Upper Tier Mage."

The Beastman on the right directly stood in front of Seth.

The Beastman's voice was muffled but accurately stated his identity and backing, attempting to end this unnecessary conflict.

And because of their intrusion, the large screen behind Aileen had already scanned their information.

[Name: Garrett.

Race: Beastman.

Profession: Berserker.

Level: 36.

Tier: Silver Lower Tier.

Danger Level: 30%.]

[Name: Magat.

Race: Beastman.

Profession: Swordsman.

Level: 35.

Tier: Silver Lower Tier.

Danger Level: 30%.]

Baiyi glanced back at the three's information. Just a simple dialogue, and the first scanned Mage, the name had already changed to Seth.

Baiyi put down the Demon Hunting Revolver, calmly and leisurely putting on leather gloves. In a flat tone, he said, "You can leave now. There's nothing you seek here."

In Seth's eyes, Baiyi's disdainful arrogance appeared, seemingly thinking Baiyi's concession was out of fear.

He ignored Baiyi's expulsion and straightforwardly said, "I need to read her memory. This is an order from the Will Clan."

Fear flashed across Aileen's eyes, and she instinctively leaned towards Baiyi. No one wanted their memory read, especially Mage's reconnaissance spells, which could damage the brain.

But the person before her was a member of a prominent family, whom she couldn't afford to provoke or resist, only hiding behind Baiyi to seek protection.

Baiyi put on the gloves, clenched his fist, and calmly looked at Magat, "Please leave."

Seth's eyes were filled with indifference, his tone slightly contemptuous, "My Will Clan chased the Scarlet Sect from Kyoto to the border for the safety of the Dawn Federation. Anyone who stood in the way would be crushed. Are you sure you want to oppose a Legislator Clan?"

"Just with you, a mere alchemist...."

Baiyi's eyes gradually darkened. He stared into the eyes of the Beastman, Magat, and picked up the Demon Hunting Revolver, firing at the Beastman's head without hesitation.

Bang~

A metallic bullet, accompanied by an arc of electricity, swirled towards the Beastman. A fierce sense of crisis burst within Magat. The distance was too close, leaving him no time to react but barely tilt his head.

Suddenly, a throbbing pain coursed through the Beastman's ear, terrifying currents sweeping through his body, inducing strong paralysis.

Meanwhile, the bullet passed through the Beastman's ear, precisely aiming for Seth's forehead.

Fear flashed in Seth's eyes, as if he couldn't believe it. In the Dawn Federation, there really were people daring to attack members of the legislative families.
