Yi Weiliang rode a bicycle for three or four hours from Huaixi County to the Xintang Production Team. The rice in the fields was already bearing grains, though still quite green. In a little over a month, it would be ready for harvest. To prevent sparrows and other birds from eating the grains, many scarecrows were set up in the fields.
It was almost five o'clock now, and people who had been working were gradually finishing up for the day, carrying their tools home. Yi Weiliang came back on his brand-new bicycle, and the people in the team greeted him with smiles.
"Weiliang is back. This bicycle must be newly bought, right?"
"Team leader, no way, I'm just a temporary worker, this is my sister's bike I borrowed." Yi Weiliang replied with a smile.
"A temporary worker is good too, especially in the transportation section. You'll be driving big trucks in the future, that's promising."
