Chapter Six

The first sign of impending chaos was the familiar magical presence of Yao's sister.

The second? The unfamiliar voices and multiple sets of footsteps following behind her.

Then—

The front door swung open.

"Mei-Mei!" Chen Jinyang strode in like she owned the place, her voice light and affectionate, her sharp eyes immediately locking onto her younger sister.

Behind her, Ai Jia, ever the exasperated but amused spectator, followed without hesitation.

And following them—

The boys of YQCB. The moment they entered, the room shifted. Not because of Jinyang. Not because of Ai Jia. But because of two specific people.

~

The moment Ying Rong and X-Bang stepped inside, their eyes landed on Yao.

And they didn't look away.

Rong paused mid-step, his gaze lingering just a little too long.

X-Bang? His expression was more calculating, but his focus was undeniable.

It was obvious. Painfully obvious. To everyone but Yao herself.

Because instead of noticing the attention she was receiving, Yao had already jumped up from her seat, a large smile tugging at her lips. "Jie-Jie!" She strode forward without hesitation, closing the space between them with familiar ease as she met her sister in a warm embrace.

They were close. Everyone in the room could tell. There was no stiffness, no hesitation, only genuine affection.

"You look well." Jinyang laughed softly, pulling back just enough to inspect her younger sister.

"Of course I do." Yao tilted her head playfully.

"You haven't been skipping meals?" asked Jinyang as she gave her sister a pointed look.

"If I did, Kreacher and Winky would tie me to a chair, with Winky force feeding me." Yao rolled her eyes.

"Good. Then I won't have to do it myself." Jinyang snorted as she shook her head at her little as she knew how bad her Mei-Mei can get when she hyper focused on things.

~

While the sisters greeted each other, the rest of the room was far from relaxed. Because, while Chen Yao may not have noticed the interest from Rong and X-Bang…

Everyone else did.

Ming, who had been casually leaning against the couch, let out a low whistle, a smirk playing at his lips. Pang and Lao Mao exchanged glances, their amusement barely contained. Lao K took a slow sip of his tea, watching the unfolding situation like a man witnessing a fight before it started.

And Sicheng?

Sicheng's whiskey-amber eyes flickered toward Rong and X-Bang. Then back to Yao. Then back to them. His expression didn't change. His posture didn't shift. But his magic did. It was subtle, barely more than a ripple in the air. But to anyone sensitive to it, it was a warning. A quiet, unspoken statement, that he would end both males if they so much as even touched the woman.

And Ai Jia? He definitely noticed. He slowly turned his head toward Sicheng, raising an eyebrow. But the man didn't look at him. He was too busy watching Yao. And the two idiots who hadn't stopped staring at her.

~

Yao hadn't noticed the eyes on her. She hadn't noticed the way Ying Rong and X-Bang hadn't stopped staring. She hadn't noticed the quiet tension creeping into the room. Because she was too busy greeting her sister and enjoying the familiarity of having Jinyang around. But that moment was about to shift. Because Jinyang was here for more than just a visit. She had brought people with her. And now? It was time for introductions.

"Mei-Mei, since you've been stuck here playing doctor, I figured I'd bring some company." spoke Jinyang as she finally pulled away from Yao, amusement still lingering in her gaze.

"Company?" asked Yao as she tilted her head with amusement in her eyes as she eyed her sister.

"You know Ai Jia, obviously, but I don't think you've met the rest of YQCB properly." Jinyang gestured behind her as she smirked at her sister as she tilted her head some more.

Yao's gaze flickered past Ai Jia, taking in the four unfamiliar faces behind him. She recognized their names, of course. But she had never actually met them.

"This is Ying Rong—Rong-Rong—Top Laner." spoke Jinyang, always one step ahead, began the introductions.

"Pleasure." Rong grinned at the utterly beautiful witch before him.

Yao nodded politely.

"Kim Eun-suk—X-Bang—Jungler." X-Bang nodded, his gaze still assessing as he felt drawn to the female especially with her crimson almost blood-red locks.

Again, Yao barely reacted.

She had heard of them, seen their games, but it wasn't enough to draw real interest.

And then—

"And this…" Jinyang's voice took on a slight knowing edge.

"Is Lee Kun Hyeok—Hierophant—ADC of YQCB."

~

Yao had never been one for fangirling. She didn't swoon over players, didn't giggle behind her hand, and she certainly did not fawn. But she did acknowledge talent.

But Hierophant? Hierophant was damn talented. So, when Jinyang introduced him, Yao didn't hesitate.

"You're Hierophant?" inquired Yao as she stepped forward with purpose, her viridian emerald gaze bright and assessing, completely not seeing searing whiskey amber eyes flickering towards her. Her tone wasn't awed. It was blunt. Direct. Interested.

"Yeah, that would be me." nodded Lee Kun Hyeok, slightly taken aback as he blinked, staring at the female but was not blind to his best friend's reaction to her reaction to his name.

"I have been wanting to meet you." Yao's lips curled into a brighter smile to the male.

"You have been wanting to meet me?" he repeated, amusement flickering in his eyes as he eyed the beautiful female….he had to admit since he swung both ways if his best friend clearly did not have his eye on this woman, he might have been tempted to play his hand with her.

"Yeah, I've been breaking down your gameplay for months now, and I have a lot of things to say." Yao shrugged, her usual mischief slipping into her voice.

Silence.

Ming, mid-sip of his tea, choked violently. Pang and Lao Mao exchanged alarmed glances. Lao K, for once, actually looked up from his drink.

Ai Jia? Ai Jia was grinning.

Hierophant looked both intrigued and mildly concerned.

"Oh? Things to say?" Lee Kun Heyok asked as he tilted his head as he looked both intrigued and mildly concerned.

"Yup. You're good—obviously—but your decision-making could be cleaner, and your positioning, while insane, is sometimes a little too high-risk. Don't get me wrong, you pull it off better than most, but it's one of those things that could be refined. Also, the way you bait aggression out of enemy ADCs is brilliant, but you tunnel on objectives sometimes. You're a step ahead, but you could be two steps ahead if you layered your setups a little more effectively." spoke Yao with excitement as she rocked back and forth on her feet as she stared at the man before her.

Silence.

Hierophant stared.

Everyone stared.

Because no one had ever spoken to him like that. Not a coach. Not a teammate. Not a professional analyst. Certainly not someone he had just met.

And yet—

Chen Yao stood before him, arms crossed, completely unbothered.

"Damn." spoke Lee Kun Hyeok as he let out a low chuckle.

"I know, right?" Yao grinned brightly as she was pleased with herself and the analysis she gave to the man before him.

Jinyang sighed, but there was fondness in her expression.

Ai Jia? Ai Jia was clearly entertained. Rong and X-Bang? They had zero clue what to make of this woman.

And Sicheng?

Sicheng's expression remained unreadable. But his magic? Shifted. It was barely noticeable, a flicker of energy, a small pulse that only those attuned to it would sense.

But Ai Jia? Ai Jia noticed and he could not help it as he smirked.

Because for the first time in a long while…Lu Sicheng looked annoyed.

~

Before Yao could launch into another critique, a smooth voice cut through the air like a blade of pure treachery.

"By the way, Mei-Mei, did you know Ai Jia's wrists have been bothering him?"

Silence.

Yao froze.

The entire room froze.

And then—

Yao's viridian emerald gaze snapped toward Ai Jia with laser focus.

Ai Jia, who had been casually enjoying the chaos just seconds ago, immediately paled. "Jinyang." His voice was low. Betrayed.

"What? You didn't think I was going to keep that secret, did you?" Jinyang, who had just thrown him to the wolves, smiled sweetly.

"We are courting! Is there no loyalty in this relationship?" Ai Jia looked personally victimized.

"Oh, there is. Just not when it comes to keeping you from getting your ass handed to you for being an idiot." offered Jinyang as she tilted her head, looking thoughtful.

Ming and Pang snorted, barely holding back laughter.

"Truly tragic. His own woman, throwing him to his doom." Lao Mao shook his head in faux disappointment.

"Should've seen it coming." Lao K, ever calm, took another sip of tea, muttering.

Even Rong and X-Bang, who had no context for what was happening, could feel the energy in the room shift.

Because Yao wasn't just annoyed. She was about to go full Healer mode and Ai Jia knew exactly what that meant.

~

"...I can explain." Ai Jia, sensing his impending doom, slowly turned to Yao.

"You can explain?" asked Yao as she tilted her head as she gave him a sweet smile.

"I was going to get it checked out." tried Ai Jia as he swallowed hard and tried to not flinch or run and hide from his future sister in law.

"When?" demanded Yao as she crossed her arms.

"...Eventually?" Ai Jia shuffled as he inched back from the woman as he was damn well scared of her.

"Eventually is not a time, Ai Jia." Yao exhaled sharply through her nose.

"Oh, he's so done for." Ming leaned over to Pang, whispering.

"We should've brought popcorn." Pang nodded, whispering back.

Hierophant was now fully convinced that they were all insane.

"Jinyang. Darling. Love of my life. Beautiful, kind-hearted woman—" Ai Jia, grasping at straws, turned back to his girlfriend for support.

"Flattery won't save you." Jinyang spoke as she smirked at her soon to be bonded.

"Understood." Ai Jia inhaled sharply as he fought back from whining like a kid.

"Glad we're all on the same page. Now sit down before I hex you myself." Yao, already pulling out her wand, smirked.

Ai Jia dropped onto the couch like a man walking into his own funeral.

Sicheng?

Sicheng just exhaled through his nose, shaking his head slightly. Yao might be chaos, but at least she was efficient. And Ai Jia? Ai Jia had just learned a valuable lesson. Never trust a woman who has a Healer for a sister.

~

Yao sat on the couch, Ai Jia's wrist in her grasp, her wand hovering over his skin as a soft magical hum filled the air. Her viridian emerald gaze was sharp, scanning for any lingering strain or damage.

Ai Jia, sulking like a child caught misbehaving, sat stiffly, occasionally glancing at Jinyang like a man betrayed by the love of his life.

Jinyang? Looked unbothered.

The others? They were watching.

Hierophant, X-Bang, and Rong were still absorbing the whirlwind that was Chen Yao, intrigued by the chaotic mix of energy, mischief, and authority she carried effortlessly.

And then, the unexpected question came.

"Who exactly are you?" The voice was calm, curious, and carried the weight of a leader.

Yao glanced up, meeting the calculating gaze of Liang Sheng—Student—the Captain and Support of YQCB. She didn't miss the way his posture remained steady, his presence carrying the same composed authority that Sicheng did. A smirk tugged at her lips. "Ah, finally, someone asks. I'm Chen Yao, Healer and Data Analyst Coach of ZGDX." She set Ai Jia's wrist down and leaned back slightly, completely at ease.

Silence.

The reaction was immediate.

X-Bang, who had been casually observing up until this point, straightened slightly. Rong, who had been more focused on staring at Yao than processing details, suddenly stiffened.

And then—

"Wait a damn second—our boss's little sister is working for ZGDX?!" The words came out incredulously, loud and filled with disbelief.

Sicheng, who had been silent up until now, let out a low rumble of amusement. "Interesting to know, considering Chen Yao now owns 34% of ZGDX." his voice was cold, slow, deliberate,

Silence.

Ai Jia, mid-whining about how he didn't need a check-up, froze. Hierophant, who had been leaning forward with vague interest, jerked upright. X-Bang and Rong? Both gaped. Even Ming, Pang, Lao Mao, and Lao K, who had been enjoying the show, visibly tensed. Because none of them had known. Not a single one. All eyes snapped to Jinyang, the only person who didn't look surprised.

Ai Jia, still staring at Yao like she had personally committed a war crime by not telling him, slowly turned his betrayed gaze to Jinyang. "Did you know?" demanded Ai Jia as he stared at her.

"Of course." Jinyang gave a smirk at the male before her.

The room finally descended into chaos.

"How?!"

"Since when?!"

"Why didn't anyone say anything?!"

"I didn't think it was relevant." Yao tilted her head, amused.

"NOT RELEVANT?!" Ai Jia spluttered. "YOU OWN PART OF ZGDX!"

Yao shrugged. "It's just 34%."

"JUST?!"

Pang, struggling to process this, pointed at her.

"How?!"

Before Yao could answer, Sicheng did it for her.

"Rui and CEO Bao's screw-up with her previous contract."

More silence.

More gaping.

"Damn." Hierophant, finally catching up, let out a slow whistle.

Yao grinned. "I know, right?"

"This is too much. My head hurts. Yao, fix it." Ai Jia threw himself onto the couch dramatically.

Yao, without missing a beat, flicked her wand and smirked as Ai Jia yelped as a mild headache relief charm hit him.

~

The room was still recovering from the sheer chaos of revelation that Chen Yao owned 34% of ZGDX.

Ai Jia was dramatically flopped over the couch, whining about his poor, betrayed soul. Hierophant was still processing. Rong and X-Bang looked like they had been hit over the head with a frying pan. Pang and Lao Mao hadn't closed their mouths in the last two minutes.

And Jinyang? Jinyang was still calmly sipping her tea that Lao K had poured her.

Yao?

Yao was grinning. That mischievous, chaotic grin that made her viridian emerald green eyes glow, flickering with energy, amusement, and just a bit of wicked delight. She was soaking this in. She was reveling in the madness she had unknowingly caused.

And Sicheng?

Sicheng was watching it all. Dark amusement flickered in his whiskey-amber eyes as he took in the scene before him. The sheer disaster of disbelief. The pure chaos that had unfolded in mere minutes.

And at the center of it?

Chen Yao. Sitting there, smirking like the world was hers to set on fire. His fingers tapped lightly against the armrest of his chair, his gaze drifting back to her. She wasn't just causing chaos.

She was enjoying it and she was damn good at it.
