"Damn it, where's my milk!? There were more than twenty bottles on that shelf just yesterday…"
Inside a small shop, the store owner stared at the empty shelves with bulging eyes. His anger erupted as he stormed around the place.
"The bread is gone! The sausages are gone! Even the fresh dango I just stocked is gone too!"
"This is already the umpteenth time this month!!!"
The shopkeeper, fuming, marched back toward the counter, ready to storm off to the Hokage's office and demand justice. But the moment he got there—
"My money… Where the hell is my money from the register!?"
His furious roar shook the whole street.
Rushing out of the store, he bellowed at the crowd:
"Damn bastard! Which ninja is so broke they have to rob my store!? Don't let me find you, you thief!!"
The villagers on the street looked at each other nervously. Whispers began spreading like wildfire.
"Again? It happened again?"
"Even the Hokage sent ninja to investigate, but they couldn't find the culprit…"
"I heard even the Hyūga clan checked it with their Byakugan—nothing! It's like the thief appeared out of thin air…"
"It's not just this shop. I heard the Akimichi clan's BBQ restaurant got hit too!"
"What if it's a ghost? If not, how come so many ninja can't catch a single thief?"
"Don't say that! I run a dango stand. Yesterday I lost dozens of sticks myself…"
Panic spread. The villagers avoided the shop, as if the thief's curse might fall upon them too.
Soon after, a squad of Konoha ninja arrived, surrounding the shop from all sides. Some rushed inside immediately.
From among them, a member of the Aburame clan stepped forward. Cloaked in black with dark sunglasses, he exuded a mafia-like aura. Extending both hands toward the shop, he said in a low voice:
"Parasitic Insects, disperse."
Countless black bugs poured from his sleeves like a living storm, sweeping through the entire store. After a few seconds, the bugs returned, crawling back into him.
The Aburame ninja shook his head. "No. Nothing. The thief left behind no trace at all."
As an Aburame, his insects could detect the faintest chakra residue. But even they found nothing.
"Still nothing!?" Sarutobi Hiruzen stood nearby, pipe in his mouth, brows furrowed deeply.
"We arrived quickly, yet there's no sign… What kind of jutsu is this thief using?"
"No… what's his goal?"
The Hokage's eyes narrowed. "With such power, yet he only steals… milk, bread, and snacks?"
The Third Hokage couldn't make sense of it. Was it intimidation? A show of power? Or some kind of enemy infiltration?
At that moment, the Uchiha clan arrived—led by Fugaku himself, along with Shisui, a young Itachi, and several others.
"Good timing, Fugaku. Shisui. See if your Sharingan can find anything," Hiruzen ordered.
The crimson eyes lit up one by one, scanning the entire store. After a few seconds, Fugaku shook his head.
"Nothing. Everything appears perfectly normal."
Even under the sharp gaze of the three-tomoe Sharingan, no abnormalities could be seen.
Hiruzen's frown deepened, but finally, he gave orders:
"Have the Uchiha, Hyūga, Aburame, and Inuzuka clans increase patrols. Catch this thief at all costs."
"Understood." The Anbu bowed.
Meanwhile, within the hidden Door-Space nearby…
"Riiip…" Naruto tore open a pack of tri-colored dango, stuffing one into his mouth, eyes cold as he watched the commotion.
"Looks like things are blowing up, huh…"
It had already been three months since he first gained chakra. During that time, Naruto had become a phantom thief, using the Door-Door Fruit to plunder every type of shop in Konoha.
Convenience stores, BBQ houses, butcher shops, even weapon shops—none had escaped his hands.
The spoils had rebuilt his malnourished body, making him stronger day by day.
"But… maybe it's time to lay low," Naruto muttered after swallowing the last dango ball. He turned toward his shabby home.
The Uchiha, Hyūga, Aburame, Inuzuka, Yamanaka… all excelled in tracking. No matter how strong his spatial ability was, ninja powers were endless. There might be someone out there who could see through his tricks.
Two months later.
On the way to buy instant ramen (for camouflage purposes), Naruto walked down the street when—
Whizz!
A stone flew from the crowd, striking his forehead before he could react.
Bang!
He toppled to the ground. Blood dripped down his face as he touched his forehead, then stared at his crimson-stained hand.
"You bastards…" His eyes flashed with icy fury.
"Hahaha!"
The villagers burst into cruel laughter. A group of kids, about his age, clapped and jeered.
"The monster got hit! Hahaha!"
"The blond freak finally bled! Get out of our village!"
"Yeah, get out of here, monster!"
"…"
Naruto's gaze turned frigid, but soon he forced himself calm. Slowly, he stood back up. Surrounded by mocking villagers, he squeezed out a crooked smile.
"Everyone… don't throw stones around. You could hurt someone, you see? Look—I already got hit."
A villager sneered back, muttering: "We meant to hit you, you monster."
Naruto didn't bother searching for the culprit. What was the point? Instead, he bought his ramen, clutching his bleeding head, and went home.
After a rough bandage on the wound, he sat back down to refine chakra.
But then—
Knock knock.
Someone was at the door.
When Naruto opened it, he saw the figure outside and instantly put on a bright, surprised face, leaping forward:
"Grandpa Hokage! You came to see me!?"
