On Saturday, Lisa came over to their house and they packed up all their supplies before leaving. As they drove on the busy streeets, Danny was playing a K-Pop song while they all sang along. Nathalie and Lisa were hardcore K-Pop fans. At first, Danny thought it was ridiculous, but they played those songs so much that he had no choice but to subconsciously start vibing along as well. Now he informed the girls of any new releases, and he's a die-hard fan himself.
"I've sent your virtual tickets; all you have to do is to scan the code to get them activated," Lisa said. Nathalie did for both she and her brother since he can't use the phone while driving.
The party was being held at a senior's house. Her name was Ashley, and since her rich parents were away for the summer, she had decided to host the party. She invited all popular people in school and some of her friends, and also people from other schools.
By the time they got there, the party was in full swing. A lot of girls in colorful bra tops were dancing, and the guys were doing so as well. The DJ was really cool, and he was mostly playing popular songs and mixes.
When Danny found a spot to park their car, they all got out. Lisa looked as though she had already missed out on the majority of the fun.
"Now this party is fire!" she exclaimed in a frenzied voice.
They all laughed while Danny shook his head as he looked at his girlfriend. He considered her expressions cute.
"We should go change out of these clothes," Danny said, referring to their casuals. "I'll find the dressing room. Let's meet at the pool in 15 minutes."
"That's fine," Lisa said as she came closer and gave Danny a kiss on the cheek. Nathalie simply looked towards another direction.
"Nasty" was the only word she could use to describe what she avoided seeing.
"Let's go," Lisa said as she pulled her hand and dragged her away.
When they were all changed, they came to meet each other at the poolside. Lisa looked amazing in her bikini; it really suited her skin tone and made her color pop out more. Danny was wearing blue shorts; although it wasn't as blue as Lisa's, it looked great on him as well. But Nathalie just stood beside them in her orange bikini. She covered both her chest and torso with the shawl she made sure to take with her, and she wore a large hat to keep off the sun and also a pair of sunglasses.
"You look ridiculous," Danny said, rolling his eyes.
"Lies," Nathalie said offhandedly as she lifted her chin high in a cocky manner.
Lisa simply laughed. "I tried to tell her the shawl was a bad idea," she said.
After a while, they all split up. Lisa had spotted someone she wanted to talk to, and Danny went to join his other friends that also showed up at the party. Nathalie was all alone, but she didn't let it bother her. She wasn't really a very social person to begin with.
She walked over to one of the beach chairs on the lawn and sat on it. She took out her sunscreen and started to apply it on her skin. She then looked towards the pool; her eyes met with Val's.
Damn.
What the heck was he doing here? Was he stalking her? While they were dating, Val wasn't someone you'd say was popular, so it was probably Dina's influence that got him here.
A damn freeloader.
She took her eyes away from his and started to apply her sunscreen more vigorously. If she had known they were going to be here, she would have refused to come.
When she looked at the pool again, she saw Val, but this time Dina had her arms wrapped around him like some sort of kraken, and they were kissing. When the kiss ended, Dina was glaring at her from where they were. Then she gave a sly smirk.
She knew Dina had been watching them. And it actually hurt her ego that she had been caught.
"Why did these pests have to be everywhere," she whispered to herself as she fought her heart not to ache at the sight of her ex kissing someone else.
She diverted her sights else where to get them off her mind, but as her gaze drifted, her mind seemed to wonder back to the moment when she was at the river with Jason.
She blushed before scolding herself all over again. She didn't want anything to do with people who are connected with Val.
Fortunately Some guy walked up to her minutes later and handed her a drink. His face looked familiar, but she didn't know his name.
"Thanks," she said before taking a sip from the can.
"I'm Adrian," he said with a shy smile. "And just so you know, you look hot."
"Hello, Adrian," Nathalie said. She didn't know what to say to his compliment, so she just gave an awkward smile.
"Would you like to join my friends and I in the water?" He offered while pointing to a group of people that played beach ball on the second pool.
She really wanted to go. She was tired of sitting at this party all alone. She had wanted to go into the water earlier, but she was afraid that she would get her shawl wet, so it prompted her to sit on her chair.
"Yes, I would love that," she said as she flashed her pearly whites at him, Adrian returned the smile and then stretched out his hand to her to pull her from her seat. They were both completely unaware that Val had been watching them.
