Stacey's POV
Three young ladies are helping me with my blue tube dress. It was fitted from chest to my legs, and wide at the end. The dress revealed my curves perfectly, matched with my makeup. The design was magnificent like it was created just for me, turning me into someone else.
The diamond earrings match my outfit and everything. I can't recognize myself anymore, especially since I never had these beautiful things before. My attention was drawn to the door when it opened, and a middle-aged woman entered with a smile on her lips.
"Would you leave us for a moment? I wanted to speak with my future daughter-in-law," she said.
The three young ladies nodded before heading out without saying anything. She approached me, causing me to feel uncomfortable.
I bowed to pay respect and said, "I heard you arrive this morning, Ma'am. I'm happy to meet you."
"Don't call me like that, Stacey. You call me mom because you are already part of our family. Anyway, I came to give you this." She went to my back and put the diamond necklace around my neck, capturing my eyes.
"My mother gave it to me when I got married. I promised to give it to my daughter when she got married, but I never had one. So, I will give it to you as a gift."
I touched the necklace and said, "Thank you, Mrs. Smith. It's beautiful…"
She went to my front and sighed, "My son told me about the contract. It's a miracle for me to know he's going to be a father, and you are the woman who was carrying his child. It was fate that brought you to his bedroom, but I'm not saying it's good because I know how it ruins your life. However, Connor has loved you since he was in grade school, Stacey. I hope you'll soon change your mind…"
"He did his best to find you and your grandmother, but he's too late. I hope you'll forgive him," she added.
I don't know what to say. I am speechless but still having a hard time giving my full trust to anyone. I touched my belly and my plan on leaving once the baby was born was still on.
"Miss Davidson, your presence is needed at the party. Mr. Smith is about to announce your engagement," the coordinator said.
I nodded before turning my eyes back on Connor's mom and said, "I have to go, Mrs. Smith."
I went out without waiting for her response and made my way downstairs where the party was happening. But I stopped when someone grabbed my arm, and I was disbelieving to see it was Cindy.
"What trash like you doing here?" She looked at me from head to toe and scoffed, "Where did you steal those clothes?"
"I'm not dealing with you, Cindy."
"Neither am I, Stacey. But Dad needs you and you are coming with us," she said.
I chuckled sarcastically before gazing at my father, "Why would I do that? You kicked me out of the house, remember?"
"I'm still your father, Stacey. You are coming with me whether you like it or not!" He growled, keeping his voice low to avoid getting attention.
He gripped my arm and murmured, "You are going home with us tonight."
"No! Let me go!" I replied.
His grip was getting tighter and I couldn't escape it. "Let's go!"
"I said, no!" I pulled my arm away.
Dad was about to grab me again when Connor spoke upfront. "Everyone! I want you all to meet the love of my life, my world, and my universe. My fiance, Stacey Davidson!"
The spotlight was focused on me, and everyone clapped in joy. However, my father's reaction is priceless while I can tell from Cindy's face how shocked she is. Nathan, on the other hand, was even surprised.
"Stacey," Connor's voice stopped my thoughts. He held my waist and looked at my arm, "What happened?"
I shook my head and answered, "It's nothing serious."
Cindy laughed scornfully, "Now, I get it. You told us to find Stacey because she can be my dad's key for making you sign the contract, but little did we know it was a trick!"
"This is absurd! How did she become your fiancée, Mr. Smith? Did you know Stacey is pregnant with someone else's child?! Are you that stupid to marry a shameful woman?" Dad questioned with a mocking voice.
"He's not stupid, Dad. Connor is the father of a child, so I would like to thank you, my dear sister. If it wasn't for your evilness, I wouldn't have known Connor was my childhood best friend and the father of my child." I lock my hands with Connor with confidence, "And I will marry him. I will make you kneel for my mercy, Dad! Or should I even call you that, Uncle Howard?"
Dad was taken aback and stammered, "How did y-you…"
"I know everything, Howard. The truth that you hid from the dark has finally come to light, and it's time for you to pay for what you've done to my grandmother!" I shouted.
"You, b*tch!" Cindy tried to attack me but she was halted by Nathan. "I should've ordered that man to kill you rather than ruin your life!"
I smirked, "Yeah, you should do that when you have a chance. Perhaps it will be easier for you to steal my fiancé, but I still thank you, sissy. If you didn't seduce my fiancé, maybe I wouldn't know he's a jerk."
"B*tch!—" She paused when I slapped her.
"That's making my life miserable!" I slapped her again and added, "And that's for the pain you've caused me, Cindy. I've been crawling on the dirt since I was a child, and it's time to collect your overdue debt."
"This is not the end, Stacey. You will not make me beg! No one will kneel for your mercy because you owe me everything! You unappreciative brat!" Howard yelled.
I stepped in and responded, "Yes, you're right. It's not the end and I owe you everything, but this will be the beginning of your karma. The karma you should've wished to kill when she was an infant, and will be your regret from this day forward."
