Chapter 7 - A Soul welcomes the Apex

Unbeknownst to Ignis he held Wynn's very soul in his hand as he felt the ingot whisper to him. He was aware that he could sometimes hear the will of the soulram he held but today was different. It was as if this piece of metal was alive, desperately trying to reach out to him.

Minutes passed before he reluctantly set aside the ingot and began sketching his very own design for the weapon he would eventually wield. He would use the Galewind spear as a base, however since he was a blacksmith he decided that a Warhammer would be the most efficient weapon for him.

It made use of his natural strength as well as his experience In the forge. He would use the soulram ingot to fashion his hammer head and join it right below the spearhead. The rest of the ingot would help reinforce the handle and body of the spear. Since it was originally a spear crafted out of a single large piece of metal, the modifications done to it would require adept reforging as well as layering so that the new metal would fuse with the base and not fall apart while forging.

Having settled on a design as well as the process for his weapon, he went to work. Amethyst flames roared as the forge heated up and the metal began to sing. Soon a voice could be heard, one that he wished would last forever "I love you". That's all that the remains of Wynn's soul could muster, yet the single phrase was enough to draw tears from him. Ignis looked around as he wondered where this phantom came from yet he could not make sense of anything else.

Turning his attention back to the task at hand he kept on shaping the hot metal. Day soon turned to night however he was only focused on the task at hand. A full week went by undisturbed as he held the finished weapon in his hand. Before bonding with the weapon, he added the final touches to it, he had carved a small hilt-like cavity in the handle where he carefully attached both his and Wynn's pendants, a stark reminder of his love as well as the unbridled fury he felt at the monsters for taking it away. As soon as he began to bond with Galebreak he could feel the manifestation of the soul of his weapon.

This left him baffled, many knights would yearn to see the sight before his eyes yet as the soul took shape he could only feel his stomach lurch. Finally, his bladesoul stepped out of its cocoon to greet its master yet he could not form any words. Wynn was standing in front of him and yet nothing could come out of his mouth. He had stepped into the apex realm, a feat that could only be attributed to the strong soul that housed the soulram as well as his compatibility with it. "Wynn, is that you? How is your soul still here? I definitely saw your corpse with my own eyes." The bladesoul tried answering but it could not remember anything but its name. She replied " I am Wynn?" Each bladesoul was unique, it could not manifest into the world yet but it housed itself in the weapon, granting its users increased mana as well as its skills.

Ignis calmed down as he rationalized that a bladesoul could reflect its master and since he desperately wished to be with Wynn, it had manifested as such. He knew that this particular ingot of soulram was special as he could feel its innate wind mana. He settled down and let the soul finish bonding with the weapon. His mana levels became stable and a mental link was soon established with the fledgling soul. "You shall be called Wynn from this day onwards" he answered through the connection. "Yes master" she answered and began to used to her own surroundings and power.
