Chapter 5 - Motherly Warmth

At that moment, I felt a familiar embrace, it was déjà vu, the warm hug of a mother, my mother, whom I had missed so dearly. May her soul rest in peace. Even in eternity, she seems to reach out to protect her child; her warmth comforted me. The fear in my heart disappeared, and all I could think of was this embrace I have missed so dearly.

Unfortunately, the moment was cut short by impending doom; the attack of the demons was fast approaching, neither far nor near. Perhaps, I will soon be with you, mother, I said. She smiled, shook her head, and said to me, "My son, remember this is your plane, your subconscious, you own this playing field."

I was shocked, the momentary warmth drove fear away from me, I could finally see the connection between me and the plane; each movement of my body resonate with the plane. This same feeling felt when I first entered the plane, but could not pin point what the connection is.

The attack was inches away from me when I conjured multiple layers of shield using my thoughts. The light golden shield, unlike anything I have seen before, right out of a fantasy novel, was layered before me. Before I could admire this beauty, I heard a loud boom, dust scattered, and debris of what seemed to be stone flew everywhere. I saw a shock of surprise on their faces when the debris settled, and a hint of fear flickered across their expressions before they quickly regained their composure.

I was shocked, excited, and happy, and it took me a moment to get a clear picture of the situation. Anything I think of or conjure in this plane will manifest. The thought of multiple scenarios from novels and mangas I have read went through my head. The excitement I could experience from this made me laugh like a maniac, with a smug look on my face.

They were angry; my laughter was interpreted as me looking down on them. I could see steam rising from the pig demon's nose as its red eye lit up brighter. It gained more momentum as it prepared for another attack. Meanwhile, the ape-toad chimera flashed a wicked smile, as if its plaything had just become more interesting.
