Dawn's POV
The sun was just dipping below the horizon when I stepped out of the pack house, the air crisp with the scent of pine and earth. I'd left Bambi in our room earlier that afternoon, promising I'd be back soon. She was trying to keep busy, reading one of those old books from the library, but I could feel her anxiety through our bond, like a quiet hum in my chest. That letter about her brother had lit a fire in her, hope mixed with fear. I hated seeing her like that, vulnerable and waiting. As Alpha, I could fix a lot of things, but family wounds? Those ran deep.
